It would depend on the type of work you want to do. If it's clerical, or medical, they would each need a different set of skills and training. If you know at this point the kind of work you want to do, call up a local clinic or hospital and talk to them about it. I'm sure they'd be happy to steer you in the right direction.

What has befallen our great scientists that has failed the world come up with an HIV/AIDS Cure

What has befallen our great scientists that has failed the world come up with an HIV/AIDS Cure?
For decades, the deadly HIV/AIDS continue to claim millions of people as if science has been kept under the beds. Why is it that there is no cure yet?

1 :
Well, there isn't any definite cure for HIV/AIDS because for each person who has AIDS, the makeup of the HIV is different. With each set of medicines that people with HIV/AIDS takes, the doctors have to change the dosage and what medicines according to each HIV makeup.
2 :
Because that virus destroys white blood cells that kill viruses and the antibodies for it only attract the white blood cell, it engolfs (eats) the virus but then the white blood cell explodes from inside, so there is no possible cure. Good luck with finding a cure though!
3 :
The HIV virus a tough cookie. It is a "super virus" because it mutates fast. Meaning if you create a cure or a vaccination, the virus mutates "evolves" to a new form that is immune to the medicine. By the way donĂ¢€™t be fooled by thinking that the medical word has solved loads of other cures for maladies. Many very simple diseases continue to plague man. For example: the flu, staff infections, TB, polio, Small Pocks (a.k.a. Monkey Pocks, Cancer, etc.
4 :
HIV/AIDS is a clever little bug. It kills the CD4 T-lymphocyte (helper T cells). Without CD4, there can be no immune response. As of now, all of our best medicines are aimed at helping the body heal itself, not us healing the body (look at any chronic disease to know the truth of this statement). So the question arises: how do you help the body heal an infection, when it can't do anything on it's own? How do cure an infection that can't be attacked because it lies within the body's cells? To add insult to injury, there are at least 6 known strains of HIV. What kills one strain, makes another stronger, and produces yet another variation. And besides having to fight off the HIV, your body is now susceptible to any and all passing infections. It's not the AIDS that kills you, it's the common cold. That's why we haven't found a cure, or even a vaccine.
5 :
Arrogance and greed ( not just monetary ). They could have been where they are now in HIV/AIDS research twenty years ago.

If I had unprotected sex with two girls do i get hiv aids

If I had unprotected sex with two girls do i get hiv aids?
What if I had unprotected sex with two or more girls do i get infected by HIV AIDS? How do aids hits human body?

1 :
Um maybe. The only only way to be sure is to get tested. Look up the symptoms.
2 :
If either of the girls was infected with AIDs, then there is a pretty good chance that you contracted the disease. If they were both clean, then you shouldn't worry at all. But seriously, use a condom.
3 :
Through bodily fluid it is contracted- blood, vaginal discharge, semen or breast milk. So yes, you very well could get HIV. I would be really careful.
4 :
You're more likely to catch chlamydia which can cause sterility if it goes untreated. In others, go get tested and start using condoms!
5 :
If one of them has it, then ya you probably got it. This is why one should wait until they get married. You should also be worried if you've gotten either of these girls pregnant.
6 :
You don't know how AIDS is contracted, yet you're having sex? What the hell is wrong with you? And UNPROTECTED sex? Well, congratulations, papa! Hand over your paycheck for the next 18 years. You are at risk for contracting HIV if one of your partners has HIV. AIDS is caused by HIV. A person can live for many years with HIV, but once you have AIDS you don't have much time left. It usually kills people within 2 years... or less. Start using condoms, start getting tested after each partner and asking your partners to be tested BEFORE sex, and stop sleeping around. If you don't, you'll get what you deserve.
7 :
You can't get HIV, the virus that damages the immune system and can lead to AIDS, from someone who does not have HIV. If none of the people you had sex with has HIV, you can't get HIV from having sex with them. HIV is not created just by 2 people having sex. One person has to have it for the other person to get it. However, most people who have HIV have no symptoms for several years, so you can't tell if someone has HIV just by looking at them. Having multiple sexual partners increases your risk of getting HIV, because those partners probably have multiple partners of their own, and there is a higher risk that one or more of your partners is infected. The only way to find out if you have HIV is to get an HIV test. You always have a right to insist that your partners get tested. If they are angry or refuse to get tested, they don't care about you very much, or they are hiding something.
8 :
Well, here on Yahoo Answers there are many people who don't reall know things but try to answer anyway. When it comes to something as life and death serious as HIV and Aids one should call a professional STD trained counselor to get the right answer and take appropriate action ie. testing, medication. Call this STD Hotline, it's a free call and confidential 888-585-8798 Hope that helps Evita

Who are the people who research cures and treatments for those with HIV/Aids or cancer

Who are the people who research cures and treatments for those with HIV/Aids or cancer?
I just want to know what the occupation or profession is. I'm talking about the people who try and develop vaccines, not necessarily for HIV or cancer, but those who sit in labs and test and who research possible cures. . . Thank You!

What is the transfer rate of the HIV/AIDS Virus

What is the transfer rate of the HIV/AIDS Virus?
I had an HIV test done at planned parenthood and much to my surprise they told me that some people have unprotected sex with partners which they know carry the HIV virus and never get the virus. Obviously this isn't the best idea (like playing Russian roulette) but I was wondering what the transfer rate is for the HIV/AIDS virus when unprotected sex is had with someone who is infected. Are there any stats on this?!

If it was one in ten million, I wouldn't chance it. Planned Parenthood is also not the most honest and reliable source of truthful and unbiased sexual information of the planet. They're blinded left wingers.
2 :
PP is sick. They will say and do anything to get people's money. Recently they caused a huge uproar because it is coming out that they protect sex offenders so they can abort their victims babies, and they are more than willing to accept racist donations to abort black babies (these are backed up by real phone calls made to PP). These people deserve to burn in hell.
3 :
There is also a small part of the population who are naturally immune. Which is the best chance for a cure really. Scientists are studying prostitutes in parts of Africa, where they think the virus originated from. Some are immune, they are not sure why. But there have been cases reported in the USA as well. It may be that sort of situation, I would think it to be the most logical explanation.
4 :
Looks like people have a lot of strong opinions, but they don't want to answer your questions. The CDC published a document entitled: Antiretroviral Postexposure Prophylaxis After Sexual, Injection-Drug Use, or Other Nonoccupational Exposure to HIV in the United States Here is the link to that website: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/rr5402a1.htm#tab1 In that document they have a table that answers the question you are asking: Estimated per act risk for HIV-1 by exposure route Exposure Route -- Estimated infections per 10,000 exposures to an infected source Blood Transfusion 9,000 Childbirth 2,500 Needle-sharing injection drug use 67 Receptive anal intercourse 50 Percutaneous needle stick 30 Receptive penile-vaginal intercourse 10 Insertive anal intercourse 6.5 Insertive penile-vaginal intercourse 5 Receptive fellatio 1 Insertive fellatio 0.5 Thus, about 9/10 ten people who receive HIV tainted blood transfusions will subsequently develop HIV infection. If you are a female, your risk of acquiring HIV from an infected male via vaginal intercourse is actually only about 1/1000, and if you are a male, it's even less than that. Note that these statistics are only as good as the available studies, and so, these statistics may change with better data or as HIV evolves. I have cited the studies that the above figures are based upon here: 1. Donegan E, Stuart M, Niland JC, et al. Infection with human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) among recipients of antibody--positive blood donations. Ann Intern Med 1990;113:733--9. 2. Kaplan EH, Heimer R. HIV incidence among New Haven needle exchange participants: updated estimates from syringe tracking and testing data. J Acquir Immune Defic Syndr 1995;10:175--6. 3. European Study Group on Heterosexual Transmission of HIV. Comparison of female to male and male to female transmission of HIV in 563 stable couples. BMJ 1992;304:809--13. 4. Varghese B, Maher JE, Peterman TA, Branson BM, Steketee RW. Reducing the risk of sexual HIV transmission: quantifying the per-act risk for HIV on the basis of choice of partner, sex act, and condom use. Sex Transm Dis 2002;29:38--43. Finally, obviously it is up to each individual to choose for themselves whether or not it is worth it to pursue risky behaviours, but it is not my place to preach. I just want to answer your question.
5 :
I have an amazing book on aids: The Aids Cover-up? The real and alarming facts about aids. by Gene Antonio Aids can be transmitted by any bodily fluids. Knowing that is enough. How do we know if we are immune? The Russian Roulette idea is exactly on the money.

What are three ways HIV/AIDs can and cannot be transmitted? Its for a school project, any answers will be greatly appreciated

Can be: Blood transfussion, sex, contact with body fluids that has blood in it. Can't be: By causal contact without body fluids and intacked skin, breathing same air, eating or drinking or going to the bathroom behind one that is infected.
2 :
CAN: Sharing needles, unprotected sex, blood donation CANNOT: over the internet, listening to Lady Gaga, waking up late.
3 :
There are too many variables for this. Try to avoid ALL physical contact with people who are HIV positive.
4 :
can- sex, sex, sex cant-being clean, jerking off, condom
5 :
You can catch HIV through: oral, anal or vaginal sex with someone who's HIV positive; sharing needles and/or syringes with someone who's HIV positive; also needlestick injuries in medical settings; mother-to-fetus in utero and mother-to-infant through breast milk; unscreened blood transfusions; Sharing some kinds of sexual toys is a theoretical means of transmission. Wound-to-wound transmission is also theoretically possible, but in real life, it doesn't really happen. You can't get HIV from: casual contact of any sort including kissing; coughs or sneezes; sharing food, drink, utensils, towels, etc., even if they may have been in contact with bodily fluids sexual activity where bodily fluids are not exchanged.

What if a Vampire bits a human with HIV/AIDs positive would they get aids or what would happen

What if a Vampire bits a human with HIV/AIDs positive would they get aids or what would happen?
Would they be able to sense the human has aids? How would that work out?

1 :
No because HIV is a disease that affects your immune system and Vampires are, needless to say, beasts at fighting off colds, pneumona, and other things that bring use mortals down. This is due to the eccessive amount of protein and vitamins they intake through the blood of people. The Vampire may become infected with the AIDS virus but will not experience the side effects nor know he/she even has it.
2 :
well the vampire isnt sucking blood its injecting it? Idk Im not douchebag, good question though
3 :
Just make something up that sounds sexy and attention grabbing.
4 :
well if the vampire is immortal, and has no blood, theni dont think the AIDS would have any affect on him. As for the victim, either she is going to become a vampire, and be freed from her disease... or she'll die. So really I don't think it matters.
5 :
no, they are dead. I would think a Vampire would be a very picky eater.
6 :
Well, since there aren't really vampires, no answer to this would be right or wrong. But I suppose my argument would be that dead people can't contract diseases.
7 :
No, as fictional characters, vampires are usually immune to HIV/AIDS. Only real people can get HIV/AIDS.
8 :
No. I've never seen a black vampire.
