Yes.
2 :
If his white cells were low I would be worried but that only happens when hiv is full blown aids. if they are hiv positive their labs could be normal until they start getting really sick. it takes six months to dx hiv.
3 :
Yes, of course. A normal CBC would still be present until you actually developed active AIDS. You could still be infected with HIV, and have not developed symptoms of the active infection yet- or for some time to come. If you want to know your HIV status, you will need to be tested for that specifically.
4 :
yes ,

How small is a virus? how many angels will fit on the head of a pin ? the same answer Un-countable. Stop and think a minute. A virus you cannot see that is harbored in the "Body" fluids, what deter mains "body fluids" Pre sexual fluids, mucus from the mouth, a cut you forgot. It goes on and on and, are you so sure you didn't get any fluids on the sore you had ? If you want to take that chance with death, go for it.
2 :
Not usually. Condoms are pretty good at protecting from HIV. I guess theres always that chance though.
3 :
If the condom broke, definitely. There's about a 10% chance with normal use that HIV can be transmitted when wearing a condom, IF the prostitute was infected. Now, she probably wasn't, but she could be, so while the chances are low, it's still a good idea to go get tested for HIV.

When you get blood drawn in the emergency room, can they be able to tell if you have an std or hiv/aids

When you get blood drawn in the emergency room, can they be able to tell if you have an std or hiv/aids?
I went to the emergency room some time ago with a bad stomach ache. They drew a lot of blood from me and did lab tests on it to see if it was a possible eptopic pregnancy. The results were that it wasnt an eptopic pregnancy and my blood was normal. I wanted to know if I had aids or any other std, would they be able to detect it by doing what they did?
STDs - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
No, they would have only tested the blood for pregnancy hormones.
2 :
I dont think so, they perform special tests for those and you often have to sign an HIV consent form to be tested for HIV.
3 :
It's possible for them to run those tests yes, but they would have informed you if anything came back abnormal. They also have to inform you of the tests that they are going to do. You are the patient it's your right. If you are concerned that you might have an STD find a clinic near you and get tested.

Fastest growing gropu of people with hiv/aids

Fastest growing gropu of people with hiv/aids?
I have to write this short speech for health class and the question is " My best friend and I are having an argument over the number of hiv/aids cases in the United States. I say the fastest growing group is teenagers and she says it's homosexual men? Who is right? Help us please." I'd really like your help (: I need your source also. Thankkiesss!

I've heard homosexual men, prostitutes and drug addicts who inject themselves with shared needles.
2 :
O.k. Here Goes. The organization that keeps all this information is WHO. The World Health Organization. However locally, in your State it would be the CDC. The Center for Disease Control. I will not, do your homework for you...but I will put you on the right path. Every state differs. I am in the Medical Field, and ironically just finished an required AIDS/HIV course. The state in which I live (Washington) has the highest rate among African Americans. However, the nationality that has the most AIDS is Caucasians. This is possible, because there are more Caucasians than African Americans. Asians, had the lowest infection rates. And unbelievably the fastest growing population is not among teenagers....but amongst the elderly. Those in Nursing facility's. In my state, heterosexuals have more cases of AIDS/HIV. Probably because there are more hetero's than homosexual's. Hope that helps some. Good luck with your speech!

What would happen if hiv/aids mutated and became transmittable through kissing, touching, etc

What would happen if hiv/aids mutated and became transmittable through kissing, touching, etc?

Body condoms would become all the rage
2 :
You'd be dead.
3 :
Wow, that would be terrible. The world would be thrown into a nervous wreck. Great Question. Hopefully that will never happen.
4 :
then most of us would end up 6 feet beneath the ground except for those with natural resilience (immunity)
5 :
no kising and no touching outside wedlock. enjoy free sex within ur wedlock only; which is the safest method of enjoying.
6 :
God must be surely on his way then!! lol
7 :
What I think will happen is that the world would be quarantined and everyone would be scared and no one will probably be having sex and people will be walking around in bubbles instead of cars and people would stay inside their homes and one simple touch of one person can become chaos.
8 :
If HIV became transmittable through more casual contact you can bet the American government would get more involved in controlling the spread of the disease. The government would have to...AIDS is expensive to treat and certainly an outbreak of that magnitude would be devastating to the country.

I want to know the birth details (date , time , place of birth)of HIV AIDS affected people ? How do i get it

I want to know the birth details (date , time , place of birth)of HIV AIDS affected people ? How do i get it?
I want to study certain patterns of the life of these affected people. I need the certain details like birth details when did they come to know about it, how they have got it etc
Other - Diseases - 5 Answers

1 :
What? For one thing, how will knowing the date, time and place of birth offer any clue into the disease. Also, this is all personal information that you have no access or right to.
2 :
Wow, interesting study. Might it have to do with birth charts? I think you can find some links in google. Most likely people have undertaken this analysis too. Usually though, the info would be confidential. It's protecting rights and privacy. Especially since they are dying of AIDS. Maybe you can get some celebrity ones who have died of aids. But usually personal info is kept by hospitals and it is not according to their privacy laws to disclose it.
3 :
Do you really think you're going to get that info from people? Are you on drugs or trying to be funny? Silly question, silly person.
4 :
You will need the permission of each person included to obtain or us personal information according to the privacy rules for medical research as governeg by HIPPAA and other federal regulations. Most of what you mention has already been extensively studied, which you would know if you had done any substantive reading on HIV/AIDS.
5 :
I think you'll find it impossible to discover this sort of information - it's held confidentially and can only be released with the express written consent of the person to whom the information concerns. There is no correlation between a persons date of birth and how/when HIV was diagnosed so you may find that your proposed study has no value in understanding HIV.

I would like to know how is the state of the union. How is New Orleans? How is HIV/AIDS on this continent

I would like to know how is the state of the union. How is New Orleans? How is HIV/AIDS on this continent?
Bush didn't say one thing about the state of the union. He only talked about his failed policies. I would like to know about the state of our union not how HIV/AIDS is spreading in Africa. Do we have an exit strategy for Bush's war in Iraq YET ???
Government - 10 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
we won't have an exit strategy until bush is out of office. the only thing the man has done successfully is put this country in debt, ruin what was left of our image, and not fix any of our problems here at home.
2 :
Bush and his cohorts do not care about the state of the union. They care about power and profit - the topics he spoke on.
3 :
Watch the news that is what he responded to. And the rest of your questions are all answered on the news. If he had addressed all your questions you wouldn't have been satisfied anyway.
4 :
yeah !! tax cut for people who pay for health insurance :-)
5 :
aids has never been a priority in this country, but at least it isn't completely ignored anymore. i would post what needs to happen here in regards to aids, but it would do no good.
6 :
I watched" Veronica Mars"it was a new episode.
7 :
The state of the Union is divided! Bush must of really dreded giving his speach, but then all he did was bs
8 :
i think that h.i.v. aids is very important but i do agree with you that he said nothing on state of the union or new Orleans but then right now these issues are not as important of as Iraq Iran health care i.e immigration reform
9 :
new orleans is rebuilding. what about people and the choices they make, shouldnt they be responsible? is bush responsible for everything? oh yeah, i forgot , he is for hurricane katrina and if youre so on about helping people, why is it ok to just let an entire continent die?
10 :
The state of the union is good. Did you have the volume down ? New Orleans is improving but still has challenges as its below sea level, not a good sound choice for homesteading, HIV stats are improving, but safe sex is still prudent.! Late edit- Some folks prefer division to cohesion , but the union is undivided here!! Our government has always had diverse view points, & on my block we realize democracy doesn't mean every decision will be exactly what I want. Excited by having Nancy Pelosi as Speaker, but I think I'm supposed to hate & revile her because I still have respect for President Bush & apparently it's no longer acceptable for me to embrace elected officials w conflicting views.. who cares I.m an American
11 :
All one has to do is to read the news to see the state of the union, the union is divided. We need to focus more on our own countries issues and less on trying to make other countries into what we feel they need to be, little US of A clones. The best exit strategy I can think of is the exit of George W Bush from the white house, and getting a leader instead of an instigator.
12 :
The state of New Orleans is low--- that is below sea level. What do you expect? And what did the state's governor do? He said Boo-hoo for black people but left the school busses parked. It is STATE'S responsibility to handle evacuation and conitgency plans. Could the federal government have done better? Sure, but there was much more room for improvement in the state's actions. Katrina is just a drum beat by liberals. HIV/AIDS is under control on this continent. Perfect? No, but thanks for asking. Exit strategy for Iraq? Anything has got to be better than cutting and running, leaving a gaping hole in the middle east to be filled by its neighbor, Iran. You can despise that we are in Iraq but you can't ignore that we are there. If you believe leaving it to the terrorists is the best answer I can't help your denial.

Is it true tha hiv/aids is more common in gay men than straight people

Is it true tha hiv/aids is more common in gay men than straight people?
i heard this and it could just be an unfair assumption cuz aids used to be called grids. Is there proof to show that gay men aren't more likely to get it? I'm gay myself and i'm worried about having sex with other gay men because how do you know if they're telling the truth or not? Or what if they dotn know they have it?
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered - 12 Answers

1 :
I actually think it is more common in african american women who contract it from "straight" males!
2 :
Generally yes. Its not because you're GAY though, of course. Its because gay men have anal sex the most often when compared to straight couples and the anus is much more fragile than vaginal walls. The sensitive membrane in the anus is more prone to tearing and when there is a tear in that membrane the virus can easily enter the body and you can become infected. Additionally, one of the functions of the rectum is to absorb fluid, so that increases the risk, and there are also a lot of white blood cells around the rectum and HIV attacks and uses the white clood cells (the T-Cells) to replicate. Straight couples that only have anal sex would be at just the same risk. In Canada, for instance, around 40% of people with HIV/AIDS are gay men. It is estimated that around 33% or 1 in 5 of all the people with HIV don't know they have it.(again, I'm in Canada so these stats are relative to Canada) All you can really do is to minimize casual sex and try to only have sex when you're in a relationship with someone you trust- you're right, you DON'T know if they're lying or if they're really promiscuous etc..You don't really NEED to have anal sex either if you're really worried and still want to have casual sex- you can still do a lot of other things like frotting. Its a good idea for you and whoever you're in a relationship with to both go and agree to get tested before sleeping together as well. And then, of course, always use a condom. Just out of curiosity, lol, did you watch Grey's tonight? The old term grid was mentioned and I haven't heard it for a while.
3 :
yes because gay people do it up the butt
4 :
no
5 :
this just a stereotype. there are no statistics to show that gay men are more susceptible to get HIV or AIDS
6 :
Actually, that is false. Straight women are the highest carriers of HIV/Aids over gay men.
7 :
Not any more. Prostitutes & Black women (straight) are in the higher percentage now days. Even teens are getting infected more frequently in current statistics. they seem to think they are infallible for some reason.
8 :
well, i've heard that it is statistically more predominate in african american women. yes, passed to most by straight men,but i never counted it and don't care. gays are more likely to use protection than most straight people. but we all mess up. humanity has a real bad case of "it won't happen to me" disease. the government tried to pass it of as a "gay" disease, back in the '70's. it was on the cover of some old magazine i saw years ago. two men walking, hands in each others ass pockets on their jeans, down some street. changed their tone when straight people started getting it,too. I've heard some say it was a government thing to control population, also, it was from some guy having sex with a monkey, and even that it came from the destruction of the rain-forest's. who knows. i don't think it fair to make it sound like any one race has it more than another. it's bad enough that people have it.
9 :
not any more, once upon a time it used to be, it was seen as the gay plague. now a days, its women who are the highest carriers of the virus, although gay men and intravenous drug users still account for a fair proportion of the numbers. if you would be worried about sex all your life you would die a virgin. but regardless of risk and statistics one should ALWAYS take precautions! if you use proper precautions like wearing a condom and limiting the number of sexual partners, your risk is lowered. but the risk is the same regardless of sexuality, there's a possibility you could catch it. but to be honest, id be more worried about chlamydia, gonorrhoea, and syphilis than HIV/AIDS, they are much more common and liable to be caught. just remember 'No Glove, No Love'!
10 :
it's true. the only reason straight women have aids at a higher rate because of their GAY husbands.
11 :
The rates of HIV/AIDS in gay men are higher than those of straight men. I think they are roughly equal with those of women. I don't have any specific sources for this it's just general knowledge so I may well be wrong. But I am pretty sure the rates are higher than in straight men. Use a condom and you should be fine.
12 :
I am HIV + and have been for 9 years almost at full blown AIDS if I do not get my meds soon! MY CD4 is 280. Yes it is true here in the USA gay men seem to be the most group affected followed by IV drug users. I am straight and am not sure how I got HIV/ AIDS. Either a blood transfusion or me just being a dirty whore. USE CONDOMS EVERY TIME no matter what, it is not a risk worth taking. Let me tell you Having this virus has caused many problems for me from health to personal friendships. Make your partner get tested as you should your self as often as recommended I say every 6 months the Health Dept says yearly don't listen. Please take my words serious MY life span is 1 to 3 years until I get my meds which run around $2200.00 a month ouch! Be safe chose partners wisely. I wish you the best of luck. I heard there will be a vaccine in 5 to 7 years so that's a plus. Again please take my advice.
