ing the country. Which are you more afraid of contracting, AIDS or SWINE FLU?

Unless you are having sex with these people, you shouldn't worry about catching AIDS. On the other hand, anyone on a plane with H1N1 could easily infect the entire group of travelers. Without sex. Seems like H1N1 is more of a threat.
2 :
Apples and oranges. Sure, the fatality rate of H1N1 is quite low - but it's airborne and extremely contagious. Declaring it an emergency gives the CDC and public health agencies powers to quarantine and disperse the vaccine. You essentially have to have intercourse or share drugs with someone with HIV to contract it, there's no reason to discriminate against or isolate people with the condition. You're really grasping at straws for something to rip on Obama for, aren't you?
3 :
So? Aids doesn't spread from breathing on someone. This ban is outdated.
4 :
what i'm afraid of is not catching aids but now with obama care he has opened the door for us to pay for there medical exspense allso.they are not citizens they should have no right to my dollar that i worked for,and they did not. and yes aids will be even more wide spread than it ever has if people think these people will not have sex with others in this country they are mistaken
5 :
Aids can be managed, There is no reason to fear it since we know what causes it and how to prevent it.

How can I help and become active for HIV/AIDS

How can I help and become active for HIV/AIDS?

they have a cure but people cant have it. there is more money in treatment than in cures
2 :
Research. FULLY educate yourself as to where it originated. It's a start. Find out all that you can, from the facts discovered in '81, onward to now. Then, share it with others. Contact local health centers in your area and see if there are any programs under which you can enlist to go to schools and talk to others about it.
3 :
Go to med school, if your that determined to find a cure I'm sure you will do well in the field of medicine

Can I go to the Doctors for a HIV/aids, std analysis

Can I go to the Doctors for a HIV/aids, std analysis?
Can I go to the Doctors for a HIV/aids, std analysis instead of going to a testing center?
STDs - 6 Answers

1 :
Of course! In fact, I think regular doctors enjoy the std stuff 'cause its more interesting.
2 :
yes you sure can but ask first if they have hiv tresting.
3 :
Yes, and please do, if you think you may have something! Save yourself, and others, a lot of misery!
4 :
Yes, but the doctor will only take your medical history, do a physical exam, and write an order for you to go to a clinical laboratory to get such tests done.
5 :
Your question is reciprocal in nature. A doctor cannot analyze your Hiv case without some kind of testing done. Traditionally, see a doctor first and then get a prescription from the doctor to get tested for HIV. The doctor will prescribe all types of testing you needed to do. If you are afraid of getting charged high medical bill on your first doctors appointment, go ahead and get your hiv test done and then visit a doctor with the result. That way, you are kinda using one stone to kill two birds at a time. My last sentence is idiomatic, hope you grab. Good luck and test negative!!
6 :
Yes. Most general practictioners will do testing. Mine asked me if I wanted it. You might also try a family doctor aside from going to a testing clinic. But whatever place you choose, DO get tested... you are doing the right thing. STD testing is done separate lab as a overall test from HIV/AIDS, but if you are afraid of needles like I am, they will do it all with just one stick. If the doc asks u if you want AIDS/HIV done, tell them yes and do both types of testing.
7 :
Sure. But, a testing center will keep your results anonymous. The Doc's keep it confidential, they are very strict about giving any information , unless it's another Medical Professional that is providing additional care based on your results IE: Infectious Disease Specialist.

why would a cure for hiv/aids be good or bad

why would a cure for hiv/aids be good or bad?
How would a cure for hiv/aids effect the uganda population? good or bad?

what?
2 :
a cure would be good
3 :
good
4 :
Good
5 :
How would a cure for a disease ever be bad?
6 :
Bad - bigger population. Good - People don't suffer
7 :
mabey you like the hiv's company
8 :
it wou;ld be good in fact a man well two made a cure and the police arrested them why?? because they dont want people getting cured the scienctist mad e this diesaeas to kill off black peolple i know tm info
9 :
For the humanity it would be good. But then again we would have all these extra mouths to feed. That means more starvation.
10 :
Without aids, how else are we supposed to keep the black race in line?
11 :
it COULD be possbily bad because then they're population would increase dramatically, creating even more of a poor country than it already is. They would then need more aid and supplies from other countries who, in the current economy, would not have the support to give them. There's probably more good than bad reasons..so I wanted to give you a bad one
12 :
what?!?! thousand die in Africa daily because of it what kind of question is that?
13 :
it is a deseade that ,will never be able to be cured ? so people stop having sex and being herion addicts . stupid man having sex with an Ape honestly ?. so it would be nice but the population will be fineish ? for now
14 :
do you not know how many people have aids??? and how many people die and how many people get aids a year?? lots and lots and lots...... if there was a cure you know how many people would be living and stuff.... theres good and bad because there would be an even more overpopulated world but still i think it would be way better that there was a cure!!!
15 :
The population would suddenly rise very fast and the whole world would die from starvation, or there would be another war. That's the extreme side to it. If the cure is made accesible for everyone. But when there is a cure people might even fight to attain that cure. And maybe the west will make poor people pay a hell of a lot. Sometimes nature needs to do its part. People have to die, we are too many on this earth. I say we just limit our offspring and educate the third world countries while we at the same time limit our energy consumptions by biking to work and school rather than drive. The people who are fit enough for the task will survive, the other will get selected as outcasts, its nature at its best. Darwinistic evolution. Survival of the fittest. Go nature, down with human drugs :D
16 :
i think they have a cure but i also think that the reason why they wont exploit it out to the world cause soooo many kids now-a-days are having sex like its candy. for instance now theres like 9 yr olds (believe or not) losing their V's. thats horrible. im no saint but cmon at such a yung age? also its just like some stds out there. kids think since they have a cure for it - it doesnt bother them as much if they do end up getin an std cus theyll say " ehhh they have a cure so who cares" they wont value them selfs as much as some or most do now when it comes to thinking twice on who u sleep with. also ppl are afraid of over population. so its all in abuse of having a cure that later on if they do have one ppl wont take it as serious as they are now. cmon the technology we have these days i think anything is possible. thats just my opinion though
17 :
There is already a cure for it. It's only for the wealthy.. ie:magic johnson any normal person with hiv would of been dead or really really close to it. So it's all bull really. There is a cure.. if they were to leak it out they would have to find ways to serve everyone who cant afford it and then they would end up losing money. They don't want to share with the small people. It would cost too much to mass produce it for people who cant even afford it. Therefore a cure would be bad because they would keep it under wraps and everyone would be lied to. Imagine how many people would fuss over it?? riots and i'm sure it would resort to killing people. so it's bad to have it and have it hidden. Plus imagine how many people would run amuck knowing that they can do what ever they want with out any risks because they would get treated after? It wont be taken seriously, and more and more people would become affected. THen we would run out of the resources that is needed to be in the cure all. Bad idea.. leave as is.
18 :
It would cause a dramatic rise in juvenile pregnancies (as happened when cures for things like syphilis became generally available). Fear is the only thing that keeps at least a lot of people from banging every bit of meat that crosses their way. As such a lack of a cure probably also prevents a lot of people from fooling around outside their marriages, something that is extremely traumatic for the kids. And in Africa AIDS acts as a major means to keep the population down, preventing wars, famine, and a mass influx of refugees to Europe and Asia. By wiping out stupid people who do bang everything of the other sex (and sometimes same sex) it also helps increase the intelligence of the human race. It also reduces the number of slaves available to Arab slavetraders (and the market demand for African slaves in Arab countries). Last but not least it may prevent some people from turning into rapists. So overall it's a good thing there's no cure for it.
19 :
well how the fuck would it be a bad idea?? No offence but it's kind of a no brainer
20 :
Honestly it would be good for the people that have HIV for a cure to be invented. However disease is natures way of killing people off. Population control, it has always been and will always be its sad people have to die but without death really what kind of lives would we lead? Think about it.
21 :
It would be nothing but good. Insanity saying that AIDS is tolerable as a means of population control! Perhaps those who are proponents of the slow death of people in poverty-stricken nations should do the charitable thing and off themselves, thus ridding the world of its burden of surplus population. The best way to prevent overpopulation is not to sit back and let people die, but improve education and provide effective birth control. When a country's economic status improves, birth rates fall. The result is a higher standard of living for the people and less overpopulation. Sub-Saharan Africa has difficulty increasing education and incomes partially because of AIDS, which has ravaged the population, killing those in their prime. Successfully treat or prevent HIV infections and standards of living will eventually rise.
22 :
Cass if you actually did your research you would not have made the unfounded comment about sex with an ape, as the HIV virus is suspected from coming from the Green monkey not an ape and is about the size of an average house cat, therefore it was not from sex with the animal, but rather because the animal was used as a source of food and the virus spread during the cleaning or butchering of the animal when the man cut himself. Any cure would be good, but also bad because it would create a situation that would promote carelessness and increased spreading of the disease until everyone has either been cured or vaccinated for HIV.

Is it true or not that HIV/AIDS is a disease of poverty? If so, in what ways do they contribute to poverty

no aids does nto discriminate on anyone in the whole entire world can get aids hell maybe the president even has it >im nto sayin he does im sayion he could< so no your question is wrong its nto a poverty disease
2 :
I do not think that HIV/AIDS only happens to poor people. Magic Johnson = not poor and has HIV.
3 :
NOT TRUE AT ALL. They do not contribute to poverty. If you have HIV/AIDS and don't have medical care - you are up the creek without a paddle. If you have medical care - then you can afford some treament. Plenty of rich people get HIV and AIDS - it's about participating in those risky behaviours that spread it - not about economics.
4 :
Well, it could be if the person doesn't have money or sources to get a condom, OR indeed to get the education they need. Think of all the people in Africa who have it. I bet education and sources are passing them by.
5 :
HIV does not discriminate against any financial level. BUT, if some one is living in poverty there is not much if any extra money for activities or medical care, so there is a lot more free time for sex and drugs. And where there is sex and drug use there are STDs/HIV, especially if there is not enough money to put food on the table, condoms are not going to be purchased. And people are willing to trade sex for drugs. So in some ways poverty can add to the higher rates of STDs and HIV. But working with HIV+ people there are a lot of people that have lots of money that also have STDs and HIV.
6 :
HIV isn't, but AIDS is. confused? well let me explain. if you found out you have HIV and have money to get the best nutrition, you can never get AIDS so you continue to live long and healthy like magic Johnson, but if you don't hve money.........if you are poverty, you will get AIDS
7 :
The demographics of AIDS worldwide is largely related to poverty. Poverty is not a cause - impoverished nations lack the infrastructure to provide education about AIDS and STDs in general, they lack medical testing and treatment, and in many poor nations, a condom can't be found anywhere within a hundred miles. In some African nations there are so many people with AIDS that the entire gross national product of the nation is not enough to pay for the medical care, and there are fewer and fewer workers healthy enough to work. Within a nation such as the US, there is a tendency toward higher rates of HIV toward lower incomes primarily because one of the largest groups of people with HIV are IV drug users, which are people that usually can't hold a steady job. If you remove the IV drug users from the equation, racial and cultural demographics outweigh income.
8 :
With that theory, you are saying that only poor people engage in sexual activity. We both know that isn't true.
9 :
HIV/AIDS is very prevalent in the African American community. They make up about 60% of new infections while only constituting 13% of the population. African Americans also have the highest rates of poverty, so maybe you are equating these two facts. A person is probably more likely to engage in risky behavior if they are in poverty and have a lower education level. Treating HIV/AIDS is definitely difficult to do if you are in poverty. For obvious reasons, it's expensive!

What is the name of this song on this HIV/AIDS commercial

What is the name of this song on this HIV/AIDS commercial?
The commercial isn't shown anymore but I believe 1 or 2 years ago there used to be this HIV commercial with this blonde woman and man. There was a song playing that I liked. I'm not sure it was a real song or just a song made for the commercial. The lyrics went like this: "This is our life. This is our life. It's the perfect chance to make things right." Hopefully someone knows this. Thanks.

How close are they to finding a cure for HIV/AIDS

How close are they to finding a cure for HIV/AIDS?
So i recently tested positive for HIV. i didn't know until a girl i was with for a few months called me and told me she was positive, and i got tested. I know there's no cure yet, but I know i don't have unlimited time. Do you think they'll have a cure in the next 5 years? 10 years? If not, at least better treatment? im a 19 year old college student so I think you can understand the kind of predicament i'm in. also i'm worried how this will affect my future when it comes to getting jobs and stuff. i plan on getting an education and starting a career but i've heard they wont hire people who are HIV positive.

damn that sucks - sorry to hear that but, i do hear they are making progress and they do have better treatments now. good luck hon.....
2 :
Try looking into some alternative methods, the meds just suppress the issue and don't really deal with the problem.. Oxygen therapy has worked well over seas, I don't want to put a claim out there, but people do Oxygen therapy and there is a good chance you wont need to deal with it any more. You probably haven't heard about this in the states, as the government wants you to purchase there drugs. it is a process, and allot of work, but there have been some eye opening results! how do you think Magic Johnson has lived so long, he gets treated out side of the US, where they actually heal people!
3 :
I'm so sorry to hear about those results. So far there is no cure for HIV/AIDS. How ever there is hope. Everyday researchers are finding more and more new treatments and may soon be able to utilize lysozyme to slow the spread of the disease. HIV status is confidential, so employers won't know. Even if they find out, they can't fire you just because you have it.
4 :
I am sorry that this has happened to you. But you can manage. Please follow your health very carefully. Take your medicines, keep your appointments. Know your viral load, your CD-4 count pretty much all the time. The latest data shows that newly diagnosed HIV patients can expect to live at least 25 years, and that number is going up all the time. You may want to visit, if you live in a city with a medical school, the HIV clinic associated with the medical school. They are going to get you the best most up to date care. Your HIV status is something between your physician and you. It is no one's business. It is illegal to discriminate against you. Also, there are a lot of quacks out there trying to sell stuff to sick and desperate people, do not fall for it. There is no easy way out. There are no easy cures. I have many friends and patients with HIV and many friends working on ways to fight it. These are brilliant people working hard everyday. If you come across a remedy that seems too good to be true, it probably is. Keep your head up, keep smiling, stay healthy, exercise and keep up the hope that we will be rid of this scourge one day.

One very important book you MUST read is "Natural Cures 'They' Don't Want You To Know About" by Kevin Trudeau. There's a lot of bad press on Kevin Trudeau, but ignore it all until you've read his book and then you can form your own opinion about him. There's NO harm in reading a book. Find it out for yourself. http://secure.naturalcures.com/products/Natural_Cures_They_Dont_Want_You_To_Know_About.php This book alone will give you a better understanding of natural, or alternative options of treatment for your disease. Drugs will only suppress symptoms; and will never cure. If you PM me, and I'll give you as much info as I possibly can!
