How would you translate "HIV/AIDS" into Latin

How would you translate "HIV/AIDS" into Latin?
Considering the disease didn't show up until the 20th century, it wouldn't be in a classical dictionary. I'd be interested in a scientific Latin name, but even more interested in something new and creative.

AIDS, according to the 1992 'Lexicon recentis Latinitatis' dictionary would be SCDI: Syndromis Comparatis Defectu Immunitatis [1]. S. Albert however calls it SIDA: Syndroma Immunodefectus Acquisiti [2]. HIV, according to Vicipaedia could be called VIDH: Virus Immunitarii Defectus Humanae [3].

How do you infected with HIV-aids beside contacting someone who already have it

How do you infected with HIV-aids beside contacting someone who already have it?

Other - Diseases - 15 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
1) using dirty needles after someone who has aids uses it (you shoudlnever use needle even if you think they are clean) 2) havign sex with someone infected
2 :
Direct contact with bodily fluid. Sex, sharing needles, etc...
3 :
Using needles that were used on HIV patients... Getting injected with blood from an HIV person... or being born with it.
4 :
Blood or blood product transfusions could do it.
5 :
Through infected needles Kissing ie. If someons has a cut in their mouth.
6 :
-dirty needles (someone has used the needle who has the virus) -blood transfusion, yes people it still happens -having sex/oral sex with an infected person All it has to do is get in an open wound or your bloodstream
7 :
You have to do more than just contact someone with HIV for it to be transmitted. You won't get it by touching someone with AIDS. Here are the most common ways: 1) Have unprotected sex with them 2) Share needles (and basically, blood) with them 3) Be born to an HIV-infected woman In all of these cases the transmission rate is not always 100%. But in all of these cases there are steps that can be taken to reduce the risk. This is especially true in the case of sex, where protecting yourself using condoms and spermicidal lubricant can reduce the risk to near zero.
8 :
Blood transfusions have been known to spread AIDS. Also I remember one dentist in the 1980s spread AIDS to people that he cleaned their teeth, that is why they use thick heavy gloves for cleanings now and make you sign that you haven't got AIDS since the last time you came in for a check up.
9 :
If you use a needle someone else with HIV has already used. This happens mostly in the case of drug addiction, where the addict cannot afford new needles. Or, HIV can also be derived from unclean blood donated to a blood bank. They do their best to screen the blood, but it isn't 100% fail-safe. Anyway, if any sort of infected HIV fluid comes in contact with a mucous membrane (eye(s), blood, or ingestion), you can get infected.
10 :
needles, sex, or being born to a mother with it. I think it's very hard to get it through body fluids, as I believe it travels in blood. You should google it..
11 :
I'm not HIV positive nor do I have AIDS but you can get it thru using the same drug need, unprotected sex, if you have a cut and someone has AIDS and that person's blood is somehow shared with yours, the main things is to not use needles from someone else if you use drugs and don't have sex but if you have too then use protection!!!!!!!!!!!1
12 :
well you cant get it from breathing the same air or being in the same room but other than sex and blood you can get it from drug usage that is if your an addict who is on the hard stuff and cant afford a new hypo and certain bodily fluids can have the virus in it but can be killed rather easily by a cotton swab with alcohol. dont let aids and hiv rule your life.you can be friends with people that have it.dont push them away.they are like all of us all except they are going to be sick for a very long time and possibly die if those big corporate idiots would give up the cure. just like diabetes cancer and other big money diseases these huge pharmecutical companies do have a cure for most diseases but they are making billions from the meds they invent so why stop getting richer?they also think its a great way for population control just as war is. dang im poed
13 :
Blood Semen Vaginal Fluid Breast milk You have to come into direct contact that allows one of those fluids into your blood stream. Shaking hands, sharing a restroom, etc. will NOT get you infected.
14 :
This site will tell you evey thing you need to know about getting infedcted with the HIV-aids Virus.
15 :
You have to have hiv first bfor aids.It is a blood desease.you have to have sex,cut yourself and hiv person has to literally has to bleed into you.HIV is so misunderstood. The lack of education is the biggest killer.Log onto any site about HIV,it's the virus that causes aids.A person can live a full life with the hiv virus and never contract aids.Times are different with meds for hiv.Have safe sex,but understand yor not gonna get it from the toilet seat,or even kissing an hiv infected person.IT IS A BLOOD DESEASE.I encourage you to surf the net.EDUCATE YOURSELF and pass it on

Of all the discussions we can have about HIV, see what HIV/AIDS has done to the African children:check out, http://youngheroes.org.sz just stumbled on this site and was touched:

I am not sure what your asking. There is a ton of research on glutathione (GSH) It seems is it an indicator of how far AID's is depending on how low it is. Stands to reason that if you boost it, you would do better. Well the same is true of cancer, chronic muscle wasting, Parkinson, and a number of other diseases. Here is the thing. You cannot get GSH from taking GSH. Your body will break it down. However, if you take the building blocks of GSH (in our diet or by drugs) then you have a way to possibly improve your health. So, what do you mean by biotechnology? Both un-denatured whey cysteine and NAC are manufactured using biotechnology methods. They are not really drugs although they are listed in the Physician Desk Reference. Hope this helps. Do a search on PubMed to find more.

Do you think that you can catch HIV/AIDS from a mosquito

Do you think that you can catch HIV/AIDS from a mosquito?
I heard that they can get the blood from one person and carry it to another. But what I hear today is that HIV can only be received by bodily fluids!

1 :
I don't believe enough blood is in a mosquito to give you AIDS
2 :
STOP it lol just stop it...
3 :
NO definitely not. The mosquito does not reinject the blood it eats.
4 :
The results of experiments and observations of insect biting behavior indicate that when an insect bites a person, it does not inject its own or a previously bitten person's or animal's blood into the next person bitten. Rather, it injects saliva, which acts as a lubricant so the insect can feed efficiently. HIV lives for only a short time inside an insect and, unlike organisms that are transmitted via insect bites, HIV does not reproduce (and does not survive) in insects. Thus, even if the virus enters a mosquito or another insect, the insect does not become infected and cannot transmit HIV to the next human it bites. http://aids.about.com/od/technicalquestions/f/bugrisk.htm
5 :
no... the only ways HIV/AIDS can be transfered is through 1.blood 2.semen 3.vaginal fluid 4. breast milk
6 :
no
7 :
A mosquito does not have the body temperature to pass the aids virus on as the aid virus would die in the mosquito. So the answer would be no.

Is HIV/AIDS the leading cause of death in gay men

Is HIV/AIDS the leading cause of death in gay men?
If not, what is? In America. RK - It's a hardcore FACT that HIV is primarily associated with gay men, as far as AMERICA is concerned. Why don't you check the statistics with the CDC before you spout off nonsense. You're doind a disservice to your fellow LGBT.
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered - 7 Answers

1 :
No... I remember reading some article that said it was smoking.
2 :
It's a misconception that HIV/AIDS is primarily a concern with only gay men. HIV and AIDs spreads no matter what a person's sexuality is. As for another cause of death, where do they live and what is their life style choices. Perhaps it's smoking.
3 :
Nope. It's heart disease followed by cancer, just like straight men.
4 :
Yes, HIV/AIDS is the leading cause of death in gay men. The majority of gay men just love bath houses and whether they go to bath houses or not many gay men have too many partners and just keep passing the disease around. You don't have to go to a bath house to spread it. Alot of the men don't care if they have the disease, they will just keep having unprotected sex. Sex is not worth all the pain and suffering that anyone can get and will have later on in life. HIV/AIDS doesn't go away, but the pleasure sex give you for a short amount of time will. Straight males and females have HIV/AIDS as well, but they dont go to bath houses waiting in line to have sex with the person next in line like gay men do. Bath houses are still very popular even though the guys know what they are risking themselves for. P.S. : Nick and hank need to do their homework, its HIV/AIDS. Heart disease is nowhere near the leading cause. http://www.examiner.com/dc-in-washington-dc/hiv-aids-a-gay-man-s-disease-again
5 :
for the love of god don't listen to nonnickname, hiv and aids is not the leading cause of death in gay men, It's heart disease followed by cancer, just as Hank said.
6 :
Seems that you have done some research already. But not enough. In 1990 the leading cause of death for all men 25-44 was unintentional Injury. Today it is the same. In 1990 the #2 cause of death for all men 25-44 was HIV/AIDS. Today it is #9 Today the leading cause of death for homosexual men 25-44 is still Unintentional Injury, followed by Heart Disease, Cancer, HIV/AIDS, Suicide and Homicide. HOWEVER, the leading cause of death in our youth is not in the top 4 above. Ages 12-24 the leading cause of death is suicide of which more than 30% are homosexual. CDC and AVERT.org for references. http://www.avert.org/america.htm The rate of increase in the homosexual community has remained stable for about 15 year as a whole, however, the 12-24 age group is not learning from the past as the rate of infection has inched up about 2% in the last 5 years. WHY? There is a very simple answer to that but I don't think you will believe it based upon your hostile remark above. The Religious/Political Right has attacked every effort to teach full sex education in our schools for about 10 years now. The ruling out of any basic sex education that includes sexual orientation and the special needs of precautions needed by those students and instead teaching "abstinence only" is an abysmal failure. Rates of general STD's has gone through the roof. A perfect example of this is the TV advertising for various medications for Genital Herpes and the huge increase in clamidia. Right along with the increases in these STD's has been HIV in the 12-24 age group. The single most vunerable group when not give FULL disclosure education on the disease. Frankly, the biggest "disservice" being done to our society as a whole is the repression of HIV/AIDS education for EVERYONE!! starting in the elementary schools and for all types of diseases as well. When I was in school some 50 years ago, we got the whole truth about STD's. Today they don't do but one day out of the school year on these types of diseases all because some overly religious busybody sticks their noses where it don't belong, the general welfare of our nations health. PUBLIC HEALTH is everyones responsibility. That includes full disclosure on ALL STD's and other fatal diseases.

yes right after certain cancers...

What laws does texas have regarding partner notification for HIV, AIDS, and other sexually transmitted

What laws does texas have regarding partner notification for HIV, AIDS, and other sexually transmitted?

If you have HIV you are remanded by law to inform any sexual partners you may have, the doctors will tell you this when diagnosed. Other sexually transmitted diseases can be tricky. If it is a know n fact and he or she was told by a doctor their prognosis. than there could be some legal ramifications on your part. Seek a lawyer on your area and try to work pro bono hope this helped friend!
2 :
This is an Axia course question for the weeks assignment. This is cheating. Not to mention I live in Texas also and have to answer this question. The answer that was first given is incorrect for this state. do some research. You'll find more to it then just it being a law to tell your partner.
