If a person with HIV or AIDS spat into your water or on your salad before serving you, could you get HIV

If a person with HIV or AIDS spat into your water or on your salad before serving you, could you get HIV ?
What is the probability of getting HIV/ AIDS from them ? Just wondering, Thanks.

NO!

I think it has to be transferred by blood or sexual contact, unless there is blood in the spit. Why such a strange question haha :)?
3 :
Doubtful. That's like the equivalent of sitting on a toilet than an infected person did, minimal.
4 :
i dont think so
5 :
HIV can only be contracted through pathogens and breast milk.. For example blood ,semen'urine'breast milk

What characteristic of HIV/AIDS causes this discrepancy

What characteristic of HIV/AIDS causes this discrepancy?
Teens have a high rate of contracting HIV, yet more adults (25-44yrs old) die from ADIS.

Because they contract it young & medication is helping people live longer with the disease

HIV symptoms don't occur until at least 6 months or more. If you seek medical attention early, you can get treatments to reduce it's effect (but there isn't a cure). From that, you can live longer. You can also live longer if you maintain a healthy body (other than the AIDs already inside you). AIDs reduces the immune system so you are exposed to other diseases. That's how you die from it. If you're lucky enough to avoid any other diseases, you should be a bit safer. Good luck!

What would your comfort level be around someone with HIV/AIDS

What would your comfort level be around someone with HIV/AIDS?
On my term paper, I'm including a survey on people's opinions on those infected with HIV and AIDS; if you found out that someone you knew became infected with AIDS, how would your comfort level around them change on a scale from 1-10? 1 being that it doesn't bother you at all, and 10 being that you couldn't stand to be around them.. thank you for your help! :)

One.
2 :
I've met people with HIV and it didn't bother me at all. So I guess that's a '1'
3 :
i dont see why your feelings or opinions should have to change around a person just because they have contracted the HIV virus... its not like they are going to infect you by just being there! i think my comfort level would change if it was somebody i was going to sleep with! i dont think i could sleep with somebody if i knew they had it... but it would not stop me liking them as a person the HIV virus does not change a persons personality and it is wrong to treat them any different to anybody else. your a shallow shallow person if you ditch a long term friend on the sole grounds that they'd contracted this awful condition. id be a 1 - it would not bother me at all as a friend i'd be there for my friend in need...
4 :
1 for HIV; 5 for AIDS; 10+ for hepatitis.
5 :
I volunteer at the local hospital and its not as easy to say 1 or 10. Given the fact that all should be treated with respect and dignity, i want to warn you about getting blood on your hands ect. (its scary, and dont say its not). But they are just like us, but with a slight diff? I mean you still need to be carefull k? Just go for a "5" if you are in a bloody situation. Otherwise just go for "1". I dont like ppl behaving like "10" around sick ppl. They are truely selfish. (",) Living in South Africa, we get to do with a lot of AIDS and HIV in our society. We get taught in school alot about AIDS ect and how just normal behaviour wont get you infected (holdinh hands, hugs, sharing food ect.) but we know all about blood and the potensial threat it holds. (",) good luck with your report hey.

1. its not like you can catch it just by being near them. I have a friend who is HIV pos for over 20 yrs. Been friends with him for 30. It makes no difference to me. He is still him.
7 :
We have been working with those affected with AIDS and never felt that this will affect us, we are always comfortable. Scale 1
8 :
1... I lived with brother who had HIV/AIDS for 10 years and it never changed anything. Yes, bodily fluids are a little scarier, but I would take standard precautions with anyone's body fluids.... not just HIV/AIDS patients. All that being said, I don't think you are going to get an accurate representation of this in the health section. Most people lurking around here answering questions have at least a slight background in the medical field, or are at least interested in it and therefore most likely educated about the disease. I would try posting it in society and culture somewhere, or perhaps the teen section if you're still in high school. I think you would get a better representation of the normal population.
9 :
Ok. Everyone here is saying 1, and thats ok if they feel that way, but Im going to be honest. From one to ten, I'd be a 3, the most. I mean, Ive always had fears about contracting HIV, so yeah. Its not about ignorance, honestly, because I know that there are some ways u can and can not catch it, but its just a fear in the back of my head. Eventually, I'd just forget about it.

Is it possible to get HIV/AIDS even if you use a condom

Is it possible to get HIV/AIDS even if you use a condom?
I mean with regular penis to vagina sex. Lmao, penis. If you don't have a sore in your mouth or your partner doesn't have a sore in their mouth could you still get it? From what I've read it does..It goes HIV then AIDS.

lol you people and your fear of HIV! haven't you heard...it doesn't really cause aids!!
2 :
HIV does lead to AIDS, and if you had protected sex you fine. You should get tested to be sure you don't have HIV and always use protection

Straight men have lower hiv/aids rates than gay men and drug users

Straight men have lower hiv/aids rates than gay men and drug users?
i know this is true, but where can i find more information showing data of how many hiv/aids cases were attributed to heterosexual sex ONLY?

center for disease control

I would look at some peer reviewed research articles online. Just type in the subject you are interested in into a data base. There are so many of them (libraries, university libraries). This way you can back up your statement with actual research....
3 :
Most gay men don't use condoms during anal sex.The anus is a very fragile and a tender area that can easily rip increasing the chances of infection in gay men. But I strongly believe that it is a matter of using a condom rather than sexual preference.

Why dont intentional exposure laws include other std's besides HIV/AIDS

Why dont intentional exposure laws include other std's besides HIV/AIDS?
Most states have laws in place that make it a felony to expose someone to their HIV infection without first notifying their partner of the risk. Why don't these laws make it a crime to expose others to infections like Chlamydia, Herpes, and HPV? Wouldn't it help to dispel the stigma that is associated with HIV? Since people are five times more likely to catch HIV when they have an STD, wouldn't this also help bring down the rates of all STD's including HIV? Just wanna add this one detail...HPV can cause cancer and be a silent killer. Other STD's can also cause infertility. HIV is now treatable though not curable and these STD's can increase a persons chances of contracting HIV. I just think that we need to do something to send a strong message to those people who know they are infected with whatever continuing to spread their misery.

Because they aren't as deadly.
2 :
There is much deliberation in the law if wilfully infecting a person with HIV is also punishable under manslaughter. However, i think it is the fact that HIV can kill you that makes it so serious in the eyes of the law.

My friend has hiv/aids apparently. We shared cigs and a drink and i was really drunk that night and i made out?

Your f*cked now u dumb cow.
2 :
I'm sorry... I lol'ed at this question... she has HIV "apparently"?? Was this something you found out in casual conversation? Anywho... no, don't worry. You CANNOT get HIV from any of the methods you describe. Saliva does contain HIV but not in sufficient quantities to infect you. The only way that could happen is if there was blood. Did she have any open sores in her mouth? Did you have any open sores in your mouth? If not, you're OK. If it makes you feel better you could have an HIV test in 3 months, but I assure you it's entirely unnecessary.
3 :
dude dont worry about you cant get it just from making out with her only if you mix blood or had sex so your cool dont be scared.
4 :
I doubt you caught it from her, but just so you can calm down get an HIV test to make sure
5 :
Not one chance in a billion.
6 :
There is zero chance you could have contracted HIV from your friend. First, HIV is not transmitted by sharing objects such as cups, drinks, and cigarettes. Second, there is absolutely no evidence that kissing, in the absence of seriously bleeding cuts in both partners' mouths, can result in HIV transmission. In fact, there has never been a documented case of HIV transmission from kissing. You're perfectly fine, so you can stop worrying now.
7 :
What does "apparently" mean? When I was a teenager, lots of stupid ass dumbly retarded kids would spread rumors about other kids having AIDS/HIV, and it was never true, nor was it EVER funny. Just because someone said the girl has HIV does NOT mean that it's true. Besides, at your age, you should know better than to ask this question. You should have been told a bazillion times by now that you can't get HIV that way. You know you can only get HIV through transmission of sexual fluids, or through blood. Come on, now.
