should people with the HIV/AIDS or other dangerous sexually transmitted diseases have to register

should people with the HIV/AIDS or other dangerous sexually transmitted diseases have to register?
There are people that knowing have these STD's and will have unprotected sex with others at their expense. Should this be criminal? yes, if a person knows he has HIV/AIDS and has sex with someone who doesn't know or some other disease of the sort it is BAD! That's exactly what I'm saying... A friend of mine had sex with a woman that knowingly had an STD. He found out and the woman knew she had it. People should not be allowed to go around doing that even though the guy was stupid for having unprotected sex with the woman. She needs to be publicly known and people of that sort! You shouldn't be able to protect the guilty and put the ignorant at risk like that. So what if someone like that gets victumized! What about what she is doing? What about the smaller ones like herpes or a few others you can not get rid of? That would be like me going out and giving people broken noses or breaking thier arms and legs! "I didn't kill them so what?" is a bad way of looking at that one...

They should be shipped to a desert island, then nuke the island.
2 :
I believe it should. They should at least have a tattoo or something around their privates that say STD So that everyone will be aware. And if you are too drunk not to notice than maybe you should quit drinking.
3 :
we already have an infectious disease register in australia, but it is a private government register. do wanna have the list so people can be safer, or do u want the list so u can find people to victimise and bash?
4 :
You said "will have unprotected sex with others". So, are you assuming that everyone with HIV or AIDS automatically intends to deliberately infect others? Or are you limiting your question to only those who admit to that intent and plan to take action on it? If the latter, then they've just also admitted to attempted battery, or arguably attempted murder, and should be locked up. If you mean punishing people (and forced public registration is punishment) just becasue they have a disease, even if they've done everything possible to prevent it from spreading, then that's just biogtry and hatred. Criminal conduct requires a mental state, either intent to harm or reckless disregard of harm, combined with some action in furtherance of that harm. You cannot punish people if they haven't done anything yet.
5 :
And where does that end? If you are having unprotected sex with a person that you don't know well enough to know about a terminal illness, then you deserve to get it and suffer the consequences. There is this thing called "right to privacy", and there would be other prejudices against those with HIV/AIDS because it is seen as "a gay disease" (even after all these years), and homosexuals would be targeted. And those with AIDS that weren't homosexual would be judged as such, and have their careers/lives ruined. And then there is this little technicality of HIV - one can have HIV, but not be terminal or contageous. So do you differentiate, or just treat everyone the same? And then what about those with diseases that are contageous, but airborne (SARS, Bird Flu, etc). Do you have those people register as well??? I think that if someone knowingly transmits a deadly disease, it IS illegal, as well as criminal. One can be tried for neglegent homocide (or something to the effect). I think having a "list" is asking for trouble. And what will one do with the information on the list? Seperate them from the "healthy" public? Maybe we put them in ghettos with large gold D's on their clothing (designating diseased), and then we could also send them off to these "special camps" where they are tattooed with identification numbers. . . . Oh wait. Something like this was done already, wasn't it? Did you not learn from it????

it already is a crime to knowlingly infect another person with AIDS! you have a good point! if chilkd molesters have to register, than whould people with AIDS? YES! IF THEY have been convicted of knowlungly infecting another human being with this disease! they should be jailed! also! and like rapists, forced to register with the county they live in for life! yes!
7 :
I don't think they should have to register that they have the disease - a person's health is personal. BUT I do think that they should be held responsible if they knowingly infect someone else. If you know you have it, and you tell your partner, that's one thing. But if you keep it from them and one day they mysteriously test positive, then you should be accountable. I know that there have been cases where people have gone to jail for knowingly infecting someone else. But I think they should be held financially responsible too - AIDS drugs are expensive!
8 :
If they are irresponsible yes. It would be illegal for me to club someone in the head and it should be illegal for me to infect someone with something they can't get rid of or something that will kill them. It is murder!

how long does it take a person who's living with Hiv/Aids to get sick

how long does it take a person who's living with Hiv/Aids to get sick?
whats are the symptoms of Hiv/Aids and what are the side effects, please help.

you get the virus right away, but it does not show up in your blood anywhere from 3-6 months after being initially infected.
2 :
With the new cocktail drugs and early diagnosis people with HIV/Aids are living longer and the virus becomes a more manageable chronic illness. There are people who believe in holistic medicine and are also long time survivors. There are some individuals who carry a genetic profile that are infected and never show symptoms. The symptoms are flu-like, night sweats, thrush in the mouth, rashes, herpes zoster (chicken pox), neuropathy. Aids symptoms include pneumonia, below 200 cm TCell count, cytomygelavirus infections, severe neuropathy, arthritis, toxoplasmosis (infection of the brain), shingles, MAC (tuberculosis) , wasting syndrome, etc. in other words the body in the stage of AIDS becomes a host for a variety of infections. There are alot of side effects to the protease inhibitors including nausea, headaches, inflammation, loss of appetite. So, how long does it take a person to develop this? Its hard to say because of the meds and the person immune system if the meds are helping then they could be long time survivors 20+ years or if they are neglecting and not taking meds it could be short term.
3 :
Just so that people are clear, there are many people who have been positive for the last twenty plus years and are NOT on meds. It is possible to survive that long. You just need to look after yourself and make sure you're not doing anything risky and harmful to yourself or others. Positive living, eating the right foods on a regular basis and excercise, not like a strict routine but just make sure you don't become a couch potato. If you get a cold, or flu make sure you get it treated qucikly. Infact any ailment you have just make sure you get it treated and life goes.
4 :
When first infected many PHA's report FLU like symptoms, night sweats & weight loss.I have yet to C anyone survive OVER 30 Yrs After Diagnosis. With healthy eating&,lifestyle& meds, U can expect at least 20 yrs of life.As your cd4 falls your more prone to getting a virus or bacteria infection.Dr's will NOT start HAART treatment untill your CD4"s have fallen to 500 or less.

What are some fun ways to teach about HIV/AIDS

What are some fun ways to teach about HIV/AIDS?
HIV/AIDS is a very serious topic obviously, but what are some ideas for how to teach students (high school) about international HIV/AIDS? The focus isn't sex...but of course this will be mentioned. Any ideas for activities that will engage their interest and still teach them something. Movies, films, group activities, art/crafts, etc.

pretty sure thats an oxymoron
2 :
Art/ Crafts??????? really? WTF. I don't think you can make it fun. If anything it should be serious.
3 :
I don't thin you should make it 'fun', It's a serious topic, so... make the talk serious. Making it fun make it seem like nothing. Though I remember having the puberty talk in fifth grade, you could try doing something like an hiv/aids bingo using candy like skittles or m&ms( have answers on the square, ask questions. ( remember to make several different pages ) Also you have prizes to win for that. Or using powerpoint it's possible to make a jerpoardy game using powerpoint. ( you can find a template for this online ) Have them play that using questions about hiv/aids ( it may be a boring tv show, but playing it is seems to be extremely fun!. ) Have them in teams. allow them to win prizes as well.
4 :
There really isn't a fun way to talk about it. High school students should be mature enough to stop texting for a few minutes and listen to the cold hard facts about getting HIV and developing AIDS. It is a scary virus, because there is no cure, only treatments to delay death.

After all of the education that exists about HIV & AIDS; why do people still fear "catching" it

After all of the education that exists about HIV & AIDS; why do people still fear "catching" it?
Despite all of the information available about the HIV/AIDS virus there is still a lot of fear about "catching" the disease from an infected person. What I mean is there are a lot of people who think it is possible to acquire the disease without sexual contact or through the use of intravenous needles as if they don't believe the information that is available. Furthermore, although they are afraid of catching the disease the same way that they might catch a cold they STILL chastise the infected people for the alleged "Behavior" that led to the contraction of the disease.

I wish I knew the answer to that! And I have lived in some pretty major metropolitan areas and people are still squeamish about it, like you get it from someone coughing, sneezing or the like.....how utterly ridiculous and stupid and ignorant this still is. IF it were that easy then everyone would have it. I don't get it myself..........very sad and very disturbing!

I want to volunteer in orphanages, HIV/AIDS camps, disabled people, etc. in South Korea. Any ideas

I want to volunteer in orphanages, HIV/AIDS camps, disabled people, etc. in South Korea. Any ideas?
I have been running some yahoo and google searches and so far I'm not coming up with a lot of options. Any help you could give, pointing me in the right direction, would be great. Nope, just Korea. And yes, I know Southeast Asia is much worse in terms of AIDS but my interest in Korea is aiming to be professional. You didn't really touch on orphanages or helping disabled people. Care to elaborate there?

Korea for sure has not that much HIV cases. If you really want to volunteer in this you should take a look to Cambodia. It is still a third world country with many people never in their live seen electricity, living in wooden shacks, no toilettes, no fresh water, handicapped (mines) HIV (UN says the highest quotes in SEA) and many children without parents living on the streests, many times tried to get to hotel rooms by sick pedophile old western tourists. If you want to help - o to countries where it is more than needed
