What would you do if your mate knowingly infected you with HIV/AIDS

What would you do if your mate knowingly infected you with HIV/AIDS?
I just read this article about this situation and the man only got 8 yrs for his crime. And they didn't say anything about the victim feeling any justice. I myself would not be satisfied with 8yrs. I might seriously murder someone if they knowingly infected me with HIV/AIDS. That's a death sentence for them sooner that what AIDS gave them. The world is really screwed when you have people infecting you on purpose because they was irresponsible with sex. Life is Crazy!

Uh... dont have pre-marital sex... Uh... wear protection... I think this person should have a smaller sentence. Clearly both people are immoral in my perspective.

"File charges at the nearest County Court Clerk." "That's it. Sex Life is over."

If they did so knowingly, then you should not be with them any longer. The most likely person to give you HIV is someone who does not know they have it in the first place. This is why you should err on the side of assuming that everyone you have sex with may have HIV and you should be protected. I understand the feeling of outrage and I have no sympathy for someone who is prepared to be reckless with another person's health. However, as a matter of public policy criminalising the transmission of HIV is not a good idea. There are public health consequences. In the developed world the worst symptom of the disease is the stigma that is attached to it and in all places stigma makes it spread. Stigmatising those who have the disease is dangerous. People become reluctant to get tested. In fact if they are positive, they can have a near normal life provided they get treatment quickly and adhere to it. The best way to fight the pandemic is to take precautions, which means safe sex only. Encourage people to get tested and make sure that hiv positive people are treated. Very few people can say that they have never done something that could have lead to them getting HIV. Empathy and sympathy is more effective than revenge. Stay safe.

First off having medical coverage is not going to insure the fact that you'll stay alive depending on what stage its at taking medicine might not even help... but I can honestly say that i really don't know how i would react or feel for that matter. I would be hurt but i don't know if i could solely blame someone else for the mistake that we made together. I mean no one would honestly be able to say that they didn't give their partner the advantage of infecting them...
