Why are there so many black people and gay people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS?
It seems like rates of AIDS are extremely high in Africa and the gay community. Is there a connection gay and black people have with AIDS that just makes them so attached to that disease?

I'm pretty sure it originated in Africa? & The disease spread quickly among the gay men because most are promiscuous.

Perhaps lack of sexual education? I.e. access to condoms as well?

Because the Catholic church told people in Africa not to use condoms, and anal sex carries a higher risk of passing on STDs. Pretty straight forward, if you think about it, which bigots generally don't.

In Africa there isn't as much knowledge about condoms and contraception, and many women there are promiscuous, so combine these two things and you get a boatload of AIDS. As for the gay community, I'm not sure. It could be the same with condoms and promiscuity but then again hetero's can be pretty slutty also.

Well aren't you just a lovely individual. People in Africa don't have access to the types of medical care that you take for granted in the industrialized world. And there are cultural issues which prevent African men from utlizing condoms *if* they're available at all. The gay community has similar issues, what with the lack of education and access to good LGBT-friendly medical services. A lot of gay and bisexual men also just take it for granted that they'll eventually contract HIV anyway, so they don't take the necessary precautions to avoid it. Then there's the fact that contracting HIV is no longer a death sentence, so gay men don't necessarily feel too worried about it.

AIDS is rampant in Africa because people have countless children simply because there is nothing better to do. These children are born with HIV and can develop AIDS. The gay community just has lots of unprotected sex and it spreads fairly quick

A) The virus is bloodborne, and thus transmits more easily through tears to the anal wall than through the vagina (which is both more structurally sound for intercourse without injury and is protected by a layer of secretions), so it's transmitted much more readily by anal sex. B) It originated on the border of Uganda, so it spread through Africa first.

Gay sex does have a higher transmission rate of disease because of the exposure from blood vessels being greatly increased. It just means that anal sex is more likely to spread HIV than other forms of sex. The race issue is mostly about the country, and the poor quality of access to proper education about what cases such things, and how to prevent them. As well as poor access to contraceptives, such as condoms. Though in some countries, syringes are equally as dangerous, and people pick them out of the garbage to clean them and sell them again, which isn't sterilizing them either.

In Africa far too little people use contraception /protection that protects them against the disease There is a lot of rape in some wartorn areas as well, which spreads the disease Also people are often uninformed about sexual knowledge/family planning If you're talking about African Americans? it's because there is a lot of promiscuity in many African American neighborhoods and often times people do not use protection Gay people often practice anal sex which is very risky--AIDS is easier spread through anal sex than vaginal because of the blood that's transmiitted In some gay communities people are very promiscuos not all but many And that may sound wrong, but I'm just saying what I've witnessed with some people.

Firstly, the AIDS epidemic in Africa stems from total lack of education amongst the population as to what safe sex is, coupled with inaccessibility to disease prevention devices such as condoms. As for the gay community, many of them (not all) have had many partners over time and this increases their exposure to the disease. However, failing to show and back up this question with appropriate medical statistics and more than likely a poor knowledge of the issue shows a blind ignorance. Any xian who claims that AIDS is part of god's wrath to Gay people only needs to look at the countless children born with it inherited and those who catch it unknowingly from sly partners that it is merely a disease that requires research and treatment, much like the common flu virus.

Well, STD's are usually more common among gays because they think they don't have to wear a condom. I don't know about Black people, though...

No connection at all. Gay people are receiving there just reward for their chosen lifestyle. So that they will know that there is a consequence for going against Gods will, God gives them up, and they receive what they asked for. It has been long known that the 3rd world populations are, and have been used as experimental humans by those that think humans are expendable, such as syphlis was injected in to black men, as an experiment years ago, and is only now being made known as fact.

HIV rates are extremely high in Africa due to a number of things: Poor education Poor health resources Lack of access to contraception Cultural and socioeconomic reasons AIDS rates are high due predominantly to the lack of availability of modern medicine. HIV/AIDS rates are higher in heterosexuals than in homosexuals - it's an old sterotype that its a "gay disease".

There isn't as much present knowledge,funding or information available to the uneducated in Africa.Gays have less of a reason to use condoms as they can't actually reproduce with each other.Obviously, you don't just have sex with someone if you suspect they are infected either.Straight couples just have more at stake, so they use protection more often.

Well, everyone seemed to have answered the reason for the spread of HIV/AIDS: lack of education and medical resources, plus unprotected and often high-risk sex. The first recognized cases started in the US, NOT in Africa. The first patients were gay men.

The main cause of rising AIDS cases in the gay community, no matter where the gay community is located, is UNPROTECTED SEX. The same is true of ANY GROUP of individuals in ANY part of the World that have contracted the HIV. High and or rising reports of AIDS cases in Africa have a bunch of reasons why; SUPERSTITION being one of the main reasons. Many African men believe that having unprotected sex with pre-teen girls can cure them of AIDS so they rape young girls in an attempt to either not get the HIV or to attempt to cure themselves of AIDS. One responder accused African women of being promiscuous. One could very easily say that of CAUCASIAN WOMEN ALL OVER THE WORLD…and YES; that includes Caucasian women in the United States as well. The incidence of rape in African countries is high and that is also one of the main contributing factors of AIDS cases in Africa. AIDS isn’t bigoted or superstitious. HIV is affecting ALL of mankind; NO ONE is immune. HIV spreads from heterosexual to heterosexual; from heterosexual to gay and from gay to heterosexual; from Caucasian to people of color and from people of color to Caucasian. Until there is a cure EVERYONE MUST either practice safe sex, i.e. for males AND females to USE CONDOMS or be celibate. Spread the word.
