why should people living with hiv/aids tell their employers about their infection

why should people living with hiv/aids tell their employers about their infection?
My class is having a debate on whether people living with hiv/aids should have to tell their employer or school headmaster/principal etc. I am on the side that says they should have to tell (sides were randomly selected) I am looking for points (personal and factual) to make our argument stronger. Please help.

Well, when someone is bleeding, it is a sensible precaution to use gloves to clean it up, but if someone has HIV/AIDS, it is way more important, to the person cleaning it up, and those around. I think information like this however, HAS to be kep 100% confidential, because there is still a stigma attached to AIDS. Hope i helped, although you probably already got this idea
2 :
I don't think they should. It could make them the victim of prejudice, reveal that they are gay, etc. I've seen enough of corporate America to not want to trust an employer with confidential medical information. Besides, it is not air born, it is only spread through needles and sex, not things that should be happening in the workplace.
3 :
It is a terrible thing to try and make someone disclose something as private as their health status. Especially when there is really no way to get infected by working with someone. People with HIV are more accountable than you might think about doing the right thing. And really, the only way you can catch it is if you have sex with them. How would you like it if you had to stand up and report to your workplace the most private, sensitive thing that ever happened to you? Close-minded people can be very hurtful to someone like that, who is already dealing with a terrible issue.

Why pornographics is abusing innocent men and women but there promoting HIV/AIDS and the government allows it

Why pornographics is abusing innocent men and women but there promoting HIV/AIDS and the government allows it?
The rate of abuse in pornographics of men and women is high and they promote anal sex causing HIV/AIDS and the government allows these scum to produce films .Chemical ware is terrorism so is biological terrorism so is teaching some one to have anal sex to catch HIV/AIDS.

Government loves porn. It keeps the stupid masses distracted.
2 :
As a huge fan of porn I am very offended by your blasphemy
3 :
The reason pornographics is abusing innocent men and women is because you are misinformed. 1) the people being abuses (actors) are not innocent, and personalities are very similar to the producers. 2) Anal sex is dangerous, and taboo. That's what causes the "secret excitement" in so many and therefore sells. Welcome to psychology 101. 3) Chemical war is much worse than consenting adults playing with cameras and their bodies. There generally is a lack of consent when one is subject to a chemical attack warez. 4) Get over the guilt already from viewing the movies you saw. Allah is probably going to let this one slide by and not kill you- BUT DON"T DAREZ DO IT AGAIN.
4 :
The pornographic industry is usually pretty strict about STD testing. Regular sex spreads HIV/AIDS too.
5 :
Freedom of speech that´s why. Also, anal sex doesn´t cause HIV. HIV isn´t created in the anus. HIV can be transmitted via anal, vaginal and oral sex. But to catch HIV it must be transmitted via blood and/or semen from a carrier to to the blood of a receiver. Basically sex in general is the culprit. Since mankind is sexual and will have sex anyhow regardless of what is taught or not taught the general public has decided that it´s better to teach and promote safe sex and hope for the best than to not teach sex as was the case for centuries.

When do the symptoms of HIV/AIDS infection show up shortly after you have been infected

When do the symptoms of HIV/AIDS infection show up shortly after you have been infected?
Also, what are the early signs of HIV/AIDS? Just asking. Been asking a lot questions about the subject because of the fact that I saw "RENT".

From what I understand, shortly after a person is infected, the only sign is a fever, sometimes high, sometimes not, sometimes non existant. Then it starts doing its dirty work. I do not know how soon a person can infect another after they are infected. On a side note, I have known 3 people who died from AIDS, all male, all three gay. Their lovers never got it. I am not sure why. I have also heard it is hard for a male heterosexual to get it from unprotected sex, but very easy for a female. Apparently the AIDS virus needs to get directly into the blood stream. Anal intercourse as well as vaginal intercourse can result in tearing of tissue. Therefore, for the females peace of mind, always use protection. Just things to ponder. Peace Jim .
2 :
from what i have learned from the internet it can take up to months like about 6 .. maybe , but just to be safe use protection ..kk
3 :
The acute symtpoms you are referring to are experienced by anywhere from 40-90% of people newly infected with HIV. They are usually expperienced 2-4 weeks after infection but can occur anywhere up to 3 months. Symptoms are usually self-limiting -- after a week or two they go away (some may last for a month or two) Symptoms include: a rash and/or fever (most common) possibly in combination with: swollen lymph nodes, sore throat, muscle aches and pains, genital/mouth sores, headache, weight loss >5kg, nausea, vomitiing, diarrhea. Not everyone experiences the symptoms, and the symptoms are indicative of many other diseases and are often misdiagnosed. And just to remind you, RENT takes place before HAART or combination therapy was available (only AZT was on the market). Treatment/prognosis has drastically improved since then.

How much of an increased chance do nurses have of contracting HIV/AIDS

How much of an increased chance do nurses have of contracting HIV/AIDS?
I am planning on going into nursing, however, HIV/AIDS is something that has terrified me since I learned about it. I'm not planning on letting that stop me, I just wanted to hear some opinions.

0 % if you are careful and work follow the guidelines

I once thought of a nursing major, and then getting my family nurse practitioner degree. I have a lot of friends that are nurses, and none have contracted it. It depends mainly on where you work at. At a hospital, in the ER, where you might not know the history of the patient, and they are stressed and apt to do anything, you pose a good risk of getting it. Sometimes patients will pull out IVs and try to stap nurses and doctors with them. But as far as just working with blood and bodily fluids, as long as you practice proper hygiene, chances are pretty low. I don't know a percentage amount for contraction by healthcare professionals at work, but just going by the number that I know of, I would say very slim chances, and I know a couple hundred nurses. The main ones that worry are the ones that work in the ER.

HIV is the virus that causes AIDS. Being HIV positive does not mean you have AIDS. AIDS is diagnosed when you have T4 cound of 200 or less. These are white blood cells. This is when the immune system is extremly weak and oppurtunstic infections may occur. HIV progressed to AIDS in about 10 years without meds. While there is no cure yet, there are many treatments to slow down this dramitically. Some people can expect to live a full life with these while others can get another 10 years it all depends. I know the rate in America is growing, about 1 million people in the USA.
2 :
The four stages of the HIV infection are as follows: 1) The period following infection is called the window. It is called this because it reflect the window of time between infection and that which antibodies are devlop in a person. The HIV test looks for antibodies not the virus. 2) The second stage is called seroconversion. This is when the body begins to develop lots of antibodies to fight off the virus in the body. During this period a person may have flu like sympton. Also during this period is said to be very infectious. 3) The third stage is called symptom free. During this period a person may have no sympton what so ever. This can last any where from 6 months to well over ten years. The medical world is not sure why some people are living sympton free for so long. 4) The final stage is called AIDS. This is the period when TCELL drop to below 200 and the OI"S are present. So, as we see, HIV is a infection that will leads to AIDS.

How do you feel about someone going around effecting people with HIV AIDS?
How do you feel about someone going around effecting people with HIV AIDS? If it happened to you would you go around killings others or would you kill yourself? Could you even forgive someone for doing it? Would you be mad at God? How would you feel? I was watching a movie about this the guy who got effected went about doing it to others! I assume this guy knew he was infected and decided to spread it. If he were caught, he should be put on trial for murder, since he knew he'd kill the people he infected in the long term. I'd find it very hard, but I hope I'd accept it in the end. I sincerely hope I wouldn't contemplate murder or suicide. I would *never* forgive that person though, if I knew that it was on purpose.
2 :
He should get life in jail.
3 :
i don't usually say this but i wouldn't mind if this guy got sent to his grave. Doing stuff like that is just sick and pure evil. People like this should have their pleasures in hell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=expIsftp9n
4 :
If they didn't know they had HIV/AIDS then it isn't there fault, they had no intentions of giving you the STD. But if they did, they CAN be trialed in court. Besides you can't blame GOD. God wants you to wait till marriage. If you waited for marriage you would of known he had this STD before you married him, and had sex with with them.
5 :
AHHHH!!!! *pulls hair out* My God, that's sick. I have the worst idea. These people should have some kind of permanent label, or wear something to indicate they are infected. Kind of like the Scarlet Letter. :P. Still, people shouldn't be SO promiscuous. It would prevent a lot of tragedy. I don't understand this whole "one night stand thing." It should be called "one night screwed." (pun intended)
6 :
he infects people. not my problem. only solution is to go celibate or move country
7 :
last time i heard about someting like this it was a woman going around doing this in Arizona and they tried to convict her of crimes against the people she infected she didnt give a shit like you say she wanted to infect others
