I have gone through treatment with Burkitt's Lymphoma, a type of cancer. I just finished chemo in May. I'll try my best to answer your questions. I don't use Yahoo Chat though *is not good with technology* so maybe just message them to me (along with an e-mail adress if you can't fit it all in because of the world limit) and I will send a reply or e-mail back with my answers.

Can HIV/AIDS be passed on through Mosquitoes

Can HIV/AIDS be passed on through Mosquitoes?
Ok, it's like this. Mosquitoes drink blood, and thus this provides a stable environment for viruses and bacteria to thrive correct? So, does this mean that mosquitoes can transmit HIV through carrying the virus in their bodies and passing them on to the next person they penetrate?

No. It's been proven.
2 :
People say they don't but I think they can.
3 :
I don't think it can but really and trully don't know why.
4 :
No, that's imposable. That is not the way aids is transmitted. Aids is a disease that you almost have to be trying to get. Like using needles passed around without sterilizing first or not having safe sex. .It worries me that the virus mutates and gets easier to contract. by mosquitoes, casual contact, or even airborne.
5 :
No, according to the Centers for Disease control. Although yellow fever, malaria can be transmitted, tests (supposedly) have shown that HIV cannot reproduce in insects. So supposedly even if HIV enters an insect it cannot survive and the insect does not become infected. So..when a mosquito bites you it cannot infect you.
6 :
No mosquitoes cannot transmit HIV . The amount of blodd they carry in their probosis is so miniscule to cause infection. The H in HIV stands for Human. HIV thrives only in human beings.studies conducted by the CDC and elsewhere have shown no evidence of HIV transmission from mosquitoes or any other insects - even in areas where there are many cases of AIDS and large populations of mosquitoes. Lack of such outbreaks, despite intense efforts to detect them, supports the conclusion that HIV is not transmitted by insects. The results of experiments and observations of insect biting behavior indicate that when an insect bites a person, it does not inject its own or a previously bitten person's or animal's blood into the next person bitten. Rather, it injects saliva, which acts as a lubricant so the insect can feed efficiently. Diseases such as yellow fever and malaria are transmitted through the saliva of specific species of mosquitoes. However, HIV lives for only a short time inside an insect and, unlike organisms that are transmitted via insect bites, HIV does not reproduce (and does not survive) in insects. Thus, even if the virus enters a mosquito or another insect, the insect does not become infected and cannot transmit HIV to the next human it bites. There also is no reason to fear that a mosquito or other insect could transmit HIV from one person to another through HIV-infected blood left on its mouth parts. Several reasons help explain why this is so. First, infected people do not have constantly high levels of HIV in their blood streams. Second, insect mouth parts retain only very small amounts of blood on their surfaces. Finally, scientists who study insects have determined that biting insects normally do not travel from one person to the next immediately after ingesting blood. Rather, they fly to a resting place to digest the blood meal.

What keeps increasing the number of people leaving with HIV/AIDS in poor countries

What keeps increasing the number of people leaving with HIV/AIDS in poor countries?
For looking at some statistics on develloped countries, the scale is not so bad.

1 :
Well poor countries don't have the technology that we have and the communication like we do! We have AIDs awareness month commercials that talk about it classrooms that teach it over in other countries they just don't ahve the funds to help people become more aware . .if you are really interested you might want to try to inter over in one of the countries to help spred the word! and how to prevent it!
2 :
Education! There are lots of myths out there about HIV/AIDS. One example: In some countries it is believed that by having sex with a virgin girl, you can rid yourself of HIV. With beliefs like that it is easy to see why education is so important
3 :
There are many factors that contribute to the rapid spread of HIV in poor countries. Number one is the lack of education. Many people are unaware of how it is contracted and that condoms can protect them from the spread of the disease. Second, the culture is quite different. Husbands do not remain faithful in many situations, and bring back disease to their wives...then they have children infected with the disease. Rape is also a major issue in the spread of the disease. Also, these people have little or no access to the strong cocktails of anti-virals that we here in the US have access to. These drugs have almost eliminated HIV/AIDS in newborns born to mothers who are infected.
4 :
Poor education, lack of government funded family planning programs. Most of them are not as civilized as the rest of us. If they live in huts and villages, I can bet they don't have a local walmart selling condoms. Lack of medical care. Rape, and it happens a lot in the cultures you are speaking of. Poor hygiene. Race plays a part. Most of them are of African decent, and they have a higher number of cases, not saying that black are carriers of Aids, and it's there fault, but I once read somewhere, that 1 in 20 Black men, have HIV/AIDS. Compared to i think it was like 1 in 70 white men. This was in Florida so I don't think that counts worldwide. There are a lot of factors, but it's a shame that it has to happen, and especially to babies, and children. Especially who have no access to healthcare. They have no hope at living a full wonderful life. It's heart breaking.
5 :
The main reason is because very few use condoms or safe sex. And there is little education to let people know how it is contracted. Also there is no money for treatment. The average life span of people in poor countries like some places in Africa are around 24. And Canada is around 80.

wow; you feel healthy? First of all it takes 6 months to show. Second of all people can have it and not know. and then one day, BAM! your dead. idkay? either way get tested!
2 :
GET TESTED! It's not the flu, you wouldn't just start feeling bad. If you have any sores or cuts in your mouth (you can have them and not know it) you can get it.
3 :
its only a program in your mind by the ones that hate you and simply want you depressed instead of living your life in peace, remember there is no death never was and never will be.
4 :
Get tested! There is a high chance you will have it (there is a small chance you don't). It can take years to even feel sick. First off i hope you guys didn't know he had HIV/AIDS before you guys messed around. If he knew about it and didn't tell you he can be charged with a crime!!! Please be responsible and keep your AIDS to your self until you get tested and get the results negative, you don't want to spread that around, it will ruin lives!
5 :
yes you can get it ...go get tested and then later get tested again.. sounds like you need to pick your partners better, because they should have told you before engaging in such stuff before hand...that's very irresponsible of them and you.
6 :
Please go get tested for HIV. You CAN get HIV from oral sex with an infected person. The symptoms do not show for a very long time if you have been infected, so I would suggest getting to a doctor as soon as possible. The chances of getting HIV from oral sex is lesser than that of having intercourse. Also the best way to prevent getting this disease is to use latex condoms, and as for oral sex, use a latex barrier. Best of luck.

can i get hiv/aids from touching door knobs And benches then eat and masturbate without washing my hands

can i get hiv/aids from touching door knobs And benches then eat and masturbate without washing my hands?
i went to atlantic city for an hour and then coming back i ate something without washing my hands and later masturbated through my shorts without washing my hands. its now a few weeks later and i have a sore jaw and sore throat does this mean anything.

No you can't get HIV?AIDS from touching door handles etc. Thousands of people you public transit and public areas every day, eat with out washing their hands and never contract AIDS. STI's and illnesses like that tend not to live on open surfaces because they have nothing to keep them alive. If you're really worried you have some form of STI, I doubt you caught it from touching things in Atlantic City, then go get your self tested for herpes or gonorrhea. Both are simple tests with simple fixes and don't cost much. All that being said it's always good to have an AIDS test because it will let you know you have a clean slate. I'm sure you're fine.
2 :
No. You are unhygenic and nasty, not infected.
3 :
no
4 :
you'll be fine, the worst you can have right now is strep throat, that's all that i would worry about.
5 :
The only way u cud get hiv by touchin a doorknob is if the doorknob is covered in blood like those horror movies btw whenever ya in public and your about to eat always wash your hands thats common sense aint it
6 :
You can't get HIV that way. You can't get HIV from touching things that other people have touched. Once HIV is outside the body, exposed to air, it dies within minutes. You CAN get HIV from having unprotected sex with someone who has HIV, sharing needles for drug use with someone who has HIV, or getting infected blood into your bloodstream through an open wound. Also, women can pass the virus on to their babies through pregnancy, delivery, or breastfeeding. You can not get HIV from someone who does not have HIV.

Would be possible to get rid of HIV/AIDs if all the people with HIV/AIDs died out

Would be possible to get rid of HIV/AIDs if all the people with HIV/AIDs died out?
Or would it somehow reappear?
Infectious Diseases - 5 Answers

no yes
2 :
I think you can cure anything no matter what it is as long as you believe in yourself. Please answer mine http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AgByY6uDdNQz9Se9yGzCtqjsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100829110645AAlexGx
3 :
"Would be possible to get rid of HIV/AIDs if all the people with HIV/AIDs died out?" -- No. All primates with SIV would have to die too. "Or would it somehow reappear?" -- We theorize that HIV originated from SIV. As long as SIV exists, the possibility for another HIV would also exist.
4 :
I would say, yes. Although HIV originated from Simian Immunodeficiency virus, which exists in monkeys and apes, it was able to cross species-species barrier only 3 times (lineages, M, N, O). Only M caused pandemic. It was extremely rare event. HIV-1 originated from chimpanzee's SIV. There are a handful of chimpanzees in the wild that have this virus. Other SIVs are very different and to successefully establish themselves in human population they have to change even more drastically than SIVcpz did. HIV-2 from sooty mangabeys crossed the barrier but did not cause pandemic. SIV contaminates human blood when people hunt monkeys and apes for food or slaughtering them as agricultural pests. If this practice ceases there will be even less chance for virus to reappear.
5 :
HIV-1 disappears if all carriers die. There is a wrinkle with HIV-it is very unlikely that it ever happens because many people who carry HIV will never get sick and diagnosed. They live as they never have been infected. They may serve as reservoir for virus for centuries to come. 1 There were viruses that went extinct because they were so virulent that they killed some population and themselves with it. 2 There are many viruses that co-evolved with us so that they are getting so suppressed in our body that they are always dormant and we never even know that there are there until we are immunocompromized. 3 Many viruses left DNA "fossils" in our genome. They passed stage two and they are extinct. HIV-1 goes by route 2. It may take million+ years to reach the co-evolution stage similar to that between apes and SIV- high viral load with no overt illness and another million+ years - general dormancy with rare outbreaks (like Herpes), and another million+ years-dormancy with almost no outbreaks (Eipsein-Barr), and another million+ years - extinction.

if two peoples blood mixes together and they are both hiv negative, will that cause hiv or aids

if two peoples blood mixes together and they are both hiv negative, will that cause hiv or aids ?

hm...
2 :
can you catch someone no one has?
3 :
No.
4 :
no, don't be stupid
5 :
what the hell are you talking about....I'd be more worried about ABO incompatibilities.
6 :
no, one of you HAS to be infected for the other one to get it.
7 :
what???? no negative means they do not have it..
8 :
noooooooooo they have to have it for you 2 get it
9 :
No..neither of them have HIV so how would it just magically appear?
10 :
Simple answer = NO,
11 :
no
12 :
no, but why would anyone do that, you freaks.
13 :
no they bothe dont have hiv how can you get it?
14 :
Yes because two negatives make a positive. You guys are so screwed!
15 :
If both are HIV negative, then no there is no way for their blood mixing to cause HIV/AIDS. However it is still not a smart idea because there are more blood born pathogens than HIV
16 :
Ah, no! If that were the case every baby would be born with aids and every person who has sex without a condom would have aids so no!
17 :
if theyre both HIV negative, theres no way that they will get HIV or AIDS. tell your friend to think.
18 :
Science says "absolutely not". Someone would have to have hiv to give it to someone else, it doesn't magically appear out of no where. Like, if your friend doesn't have the flu and you don't have the flu, would you two being together give you the flu? No.
19 :
no. but i heard that when two retards rub their bodies together, it produces questions like this.
20 :
HDIVAIS
21 :
( - )( - ) = ( + )
22 :
Depends. If one of the of the people's blood has exchanged with a third parties' blood recently, then it is highly likely if that person had exchanged with another person and another person and another person. So in lamest terms, if the person was a slut or slept with a slut, the chances of getting hiv are extremely high. Btw, it would be hiv. Hiv and aids are commonly confused with each other. With hiv, a person can live a normal life if they take their medicine and live righteous up to another 30 yrs from being diagnosed. With full blown aids, a person dies within a week from contracting it.
23 :
No. HIV (virus that can lead to AIDS) is not created or caused by mixing 2 people's blood together. You can not get HIV from someone who does not have HIV.

A degree such as biomedical science, biology, genetics etc would be the most appropriate. Your salary will depend on what country you are in and what type of area you end up working in but I think in general science salaries are fairly modest.
