Condoms aren't always that reliable because they can break or already have a hole in them. But your likelyhood of catching it with a condom is alot lower but you are still at risk. That is vaginal/anal sex. But oral sex, I'm pretty sure your likelyhood is very low.
2 :
I dont know the exact statistics, but you would not be completely protected from HIV, no. The risk = too much to be worth it, in my opinion.
3 :
condoms do not protect agains sexually transmitted diseases.
4 :
Unless you have sores in the mouth or esophagas you should be relatively safe...stomach acids have been shown to kill the virus.
5 :
It is absolutely NOT complete. Secretions slip through the top of the condom. I myself am too afraid these days of being with someone no matter how clean they appear. They may not even know they are HIV positive. Symptoms of HIV may not appear in a person for 10 years.
6 :
Oral sex is a low risk activity for acquiring HIV. It is important to remember that there is still risk. Using condoms properly lowers the risk even further. That being said, it does not eliminate it. Condoms are medical devices in the US and Canada and must meet rigorous testing to make it to the shelf. Do people who use condoms as contraception sometimes get pregnant... YES. Do people who use condoms to control the spread of STIs... YES. It is about risk, and what level of risk you are comfortable with. That being said, if you get tested and your partner is tested and you are in a monogamous relationship you will have a pretty good idea of what level of risk you are really dealing with. The reality is nothing is perfect; condoms are not an exception. Seatbelts save lives in car crashes, condoms save lives when it comes to sex.... neither is 100% perfect. You have to weigh your risks. Good luck!
7 :
eh, not a large chance, but there is a chance, even if theres a condom
8 :
Well considering your partner is positive, the risk of transmitting HIV orally when using a condom are extremely rare. A good site to check out which holds a discussion of experts in this area looking at the risks from oral sex with HIV positive partner with No Protection. http://hivinsite.ucsf.edu/InSite?page=pr-rr-05 Hopefully after reading some of that and adding a condom in to the mixture you would agree it is very low.
9 :
If you are having oral sex...... which means shes sucking and ur licking kinda stuff. Its 99%impossible to get aids, but herpes.....etc are possible. Because to get aids she would have to put a gallon of saliva all over you and it would have to enter into your blood stream. But.... if you are having vaginal, anal sex then a condom wont protect you, you may still get an std. Just get checked and have her get checked. I mean its free at most if not all clinics and this way both of you will enjoy sex much more.

What are the chances of catching HIV/AIDS from someone that doesn't have it by anal sex without a condom

What are the chances of catching HIV/AIDS from someone that doesn't have it by anal sex without a condom?
Me and my girlfriend had anal intercourse without a condom maybe a week ago. Up until now I didn't know it was so risky. So what are the chances of me catching HIV/AIDS from that even though we are both HIV/AIDS negative because we have never had sex before.

If neither of you have HIV/AIDS then it is IMPOSSIBLE to get it from each other. One of you would have to have the virus in order to spread it to the other. HIV/AIDS just doesn't "appear". Take care!
2 :
I don't think that it is possible because one of you would have to have HIV in order to catch it. So i think that you are ok.
3 :
No....and stop buggering your poor girlfriend
4 :
You cant catch anything from a person who doesnt "have it"
5 :
you can't acquire HIV/Aids if neither of you carry the virus. But don't have sex without condoms again! You can't trust someone's a virgin just because they say so and you could pick up all sorts of nasty stuff by putting your unprotected penis in someone's dirty botty.
6 :
you can only catch it through exchange of fluid with anoather infected person. If your girlfriend were infected you could catch it through any of the more traditional sex acts, ansl sex has nothing to do with it.
7 :
You should be fien, unless one of you lied or uses unsteralized needles you should be fine. Don't worry you are good. The only thing you should worry about is if you do have anal you can rip and tear certian tissue which could cause bleeding but other then that nothing to worry about. =]
8 :
wow u both have never had sex before and already shes letting u get it from the buttocks...OUCH!!
9 :
the only way is if she been gettin it from some dude on the street... like me, per-say...
10 :
ok if the two of you never had sex b4 ...does it really make sense for you to ask a question like this ..come on...lol

its just another virus to be afraid of. and i think we need to develop a universal cure for viruses, no matter what makes them up
2 :
A terrible illness, somewhat easy to avoid in most instances, keep it in your pants, be faithful and if you must stray or experiment, keep it wrapped up, no glove no love!
3 :
its like that song bombs over bhagdad by outkast but instead of bhagdad its africa and instead of bombs its aids
4 :
terrifying.
5 :
Very scary, very sad. Find a cure!
6 :
It doesn't really effect me.
7 :
It's horrible. What else is there to say about it? It just awful and I'm sorry that anyone has to get this disease. It's not fair. And for anyone who doesn't think they are affected by it, don't be so sure. My friend contracted HIV and died of pneumonia. I'm just a working class, married, woman, librarian, and mother. I thought I would never be directly affected by HIV either. I was wrong.
8 :
As horrible as it is to say, like all other diseases and ailments, it is a bringer of balance, controlling over population and over consumption. Not to say it isn't a devastating and terrible epidemic, but disease and death is part of existence.
9 :
i believe that if parents weren't actually kids who are having kids these days that it wouldn't be as bad, but since the parents are kids they are not teaching their kids on the safety of sex. It is actually sad, but what can you do it's going to happen whether we like it or not, and it's not like you can do a background check on every person you plan to sleep with and some people will not be honest about what they have. I know I personally have an STD and was just stuck with it and I am not angry with that person it has actually made me a better person. The guy I am with now before I even followed through with an relationship I made sure he knew exactly what he was getting himself into STD and CRAZINESS... he got the whole package before it was sent.

My mum and dad are both doctors. When I was really little mum got a phone call and she had to rush to the hospital, I had to go because I was too young to stay home alone. We went into this cubicle and there was a man lying on the bed, and he couldn't have even been 20 (this was in Zimbabwe). He was thin, gaunt and crying, but the worst part was that his cubicle was empty except for my mum, me and several other doctors. All his family had died of aids and now he was. I cried for the whole day. Later my mum told me that the HAART therapy he was going to receive would cost $15, 000 a year. He couldn't afford it so he died that day, coughing up blood.

I read that it was created in a US Bio weapons lab splicing a harmless retrovirus with another virus to make a virus that would attack the immune system. Spread to Africa by the WHO using contaminated Smallpox vaccines (mistakenly or deliberately????). Front page news in Russia but called disinformation by the US government (but I attached a link to an audio confession of a Merck scientist attached). The original government weapons development documents for the HIV virus can be found online with a bit of searching. This activist has the blueprint available to researchers.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECV52iiLbRM&feature=related He claims that its a race specific Bio-weapon and the cure is US Patent 5676977 Remember the W.H.O. workers were arrested in Libya because of this too? I didn't find it surprising or hard to believe at all and its not the first time, its been going on since 1904. The US government has been spraying, feeding and injecting deadly drugs, virus', uranium, mercury, fluoride etc etc on the US population, military families, foster children and orphans for decades. To make matters worse the disease has been severely over-diagnosed and some of the expensive drugs used to treat it are more deadly than the disease. More pharma exploitation of the situation they created. Sites with the evidence are revealed in the last video link.

How do I start a Christian Ministry to help HIV/AIDS Victims

How do I start a Christian Ministry to help HIV/AIDS Victims?
I am surrounded by HIV/AIDS sufferers. The problem seems to be promiscuity and lack of basic sex education. I would like to help from a christian perspective. Our churches seem to be shying away from this problem, especially the Pentecostal churches. Please advise.

Use this medium to bring together some people to help. Petition, advocate, peace march, write letters, petition groups, talk to governmental representatives. Let us know how it goes. All people need God's love and have it.
2 :
If you really "ARE" a "CHRISTIAN".....then should'nt you be asking GOD that question instead of "US" out here? If it is "MEANT" to "BE".....it will "BE"!
3 :
I agree with Astra. Go into the hospitals go where they are and just reach out to them. If this is something God has put in your heart Then he will make the way. Find out if there are any organizations in your area.
4 :
why can't you just be a person helping people?.....the church steals...ahem.....i mean "has" sh!tloads of money...
5 :
You might try Government Grants on-line and get some ideas.

What are the chances of contracting HIV/AIDS from recieving unprotected oral sex from an infected person

What are the chances of contracting HIV/AIDS from recieving unprotected oral sex from an infected person?
Hi everyone! I'm doing a project for school about HIV/AIDS and I have a few questions. Which I tried to research but have not found any specific answers. How soon can a person get tested for HIV/AIDS after having unprotected sex with an infected partner? To put it another way: When does HIV finally show up in testing?
STDs - 2 Answers

1 :
More than 98% of people would test positive within 3 months after being infected. In very rare cases, it could take up to 6 months for someone to test positive.
2 :
there is a chance but too low ... just in special situation(e.g cut on lips or on mouth or bleeding in the mouth ) anti-body blood test shows the infection after 3 months.max in 6 months but in some cases anti-body test doesn't show HIV positive even after 12 months.but it's rare

Who can recommend HIV/ AIDS organizations in Cambodia to help people living with HIV to work with organization

Who can recommend HIV/ AIDS organizations in Cambodia to help people living with HIV to work with organization
People living with HIV want to work to exchange with salary for support children education and living. They didn't want to wait for HIV/ AIDS organization to feed or care. Please, if you are doners, may have priority than others. Thank you in advance.

.................HIV/Aids

.................HIV/Aids?
I know it is a growing Disease/Virus all over the world. I am currently doing a Health project for my Health 101 class on it. I was wondering if anyone out there would like to talk to me about it. Maybe a personal story. I had an uncle who died of it but it was when I was younger and I don't remember much about him. All of it will be anonymous of course...you can use a fake name or I will make one up for you if you lack in imagination :-) If you would like to talk and share your story just let me know and I will provide an e-mail either on yahoo or Windows Live. Many Thanks and Lotz of love.

One of the best places to start getting information is the Gay Mens Health Crisis in New York City. They can surely steer you to resources if they dont have exactly what you are looking for. There is so much written about the topic. Best of luck on your paper.

HIV && AIDS

HIV && AIDS... ???????????
Ok, i dont have it, but i want to know what ways you can get it. And how you can prevent it from heppening. Thankyou :)

1 :
you can get it by: -sharing drinks -kissing -sharing blood (and i mean like if like they have a cut and you have a cut and your both bleeding, and then then their blood gets in you) thats all i can think of right now
2 :
HIV is transmitted through direct contact with the blood or body fluid of someone who is infected with the virus. The three main ways HIV is passed to a very young child are: while the baby develops in the mother's uterus (intrauterine) at the time of birth during breastfeeding Among teens, the virus is most commonly spread through high-risk behaviors, including: unprotected sexual intercourse (oral, vaginal, or anal sex) sharing needles used to inject drugs or other substances (including contaminated needles used for injecting steroids and tattooing and body art) In very rare cases, HIV has also been transmitted by direct contact with an open wound of an infected person (the virus may be introduced through a small cut or tear on the body of the healthy person) and through blood transfusions. Since 1985, the U.S. blood supply has been carefully screened for HIV. To Prevent it just be safe.
3 :
I am a Nurse and i work at a Nursing home and i wear gloves all the time while i am at work for protection but it does not mean that i will be 100% protected, I guess it is just the risk i take.. With Sex use the protection that's out there like condoms..
4 :
You can not get hiv from kissing. The only way you can get it from kissing is if you both have bleeding gums
5 :
HIV Virus is a virus that turn into Aids. HIV is a STD. STD=Sexually Transmitted Disease So to get the Aids Virus you will have to have sexual intercourse with your partner. So that is the ONLY common way to get hiv. Like who wouuld cut themselves and then just share theyre blood to get something that ALWAYS LEADS TO DEATH! No cure for Aids. But dont worry about getting it from a toilet seat, drinks, sharing clothes, etc. Hope this helps Also you can get it while the baby develops in the mother's uterus but thats is rare.
6 :
The only way to get it is through the transmission of body fluids with an infected individual. The only way to prevent HIV is to protect yourself from coming in contact with the virus itself. Do not participate in risky sexual behavior, any possible contact with suspected fluids from another person should seek immediate medical advice, evidence is still vague if saliva will transmit the virus that causes AIDS (HIV), but leaning towards unlikely ( so kissing is considered safe, with consequences of its own as well), and above all, don't assume you are invulnerable to contract it. Use common sense, if you feel you shouldn't do it, don't!
7 :
You don't get "it" by not having sex, or sharing needles for IV drug use, or by using condoms for sex, or by having just one partner that you have had a HIV test with. IF you don't do what I just said, you can become infected.
