The easiest thing would be the demographics of who gets AIDS. The cdc.gov website should be very helpful with this. Break it down by race, sex, age, sexual preference etc.
2 :
Here are some things you can search for: Viral Load CD4 count Elissa Western Blot Cryptosporidum PCP Pneumonia Thrush The life cycle of HIV This website is a good place to start: www.thebody.com
3 :
How does needle sharing put someone at risk for HIV infection? Don’t you have to have an open cut or wound for HIV transmission to occur? If I have sex with a male and he "pulls out" before he ejaculates, have I put myself at risk for HIV? How does the "AIDS test" work? What is the window period? What is the OraSure® test? Hope this helps!
4 :

5 :
why do some people still fool around knowing that they are putting themselves at risk? If someone tests HIV + after sharing needles or being promiscuous, why should we (the general public )feel sorry for them seeing as it could've been prevented by abstaining (NO ONE has ever gotten an STD, HPV, or AIDS via respecting themselves and their body and by saying NO) and by not doing drugs. Why are so many people against abstinence only programs b/c it promotes a healthy life style whereas promoting safe sex (condoms for ex) only encourages folks that it's ok to fool around and if you test +, that's ok, the gov't/ general public will support your cause.

0........................ since when did u have to pay to get an STD test?
2 :
Many clinics do free HIV/Aids testing, look in your local yellow pages under HIV/Aids. Also in every county are free clinics for STD testing, also look in your phone book for your local county hospital...they can direct you.
3 :
I've heard that an STD test which covers herpes, gonorrhea, and chlamydia is about $100 with Planned Parenthood.
4 :
You can check the website hivtest.org to find free HIV and STD testing sites in your area. Just enter your ZIP code.

Why is HIV/AIDS so prevalent among gay people

Why is HIV/AIDS so prevalent among gay people?
This is not a loaded question. I really want to know. I know that straight people have unprotected sex too. Why is it so prevalent among gay men? There are so many ads in gay magazines for HIV/AIDS medications but I've never seen any in "straight" magazines. The New York Times has written articles on this. What is going on? Why is it so prevalent among people with this lifestyle?

1 :
tearing in the entry point of copulation (their rear end holes get tore up when the do it in the bum = fluids entering the bloodstream easily, k?) plus they tend to be promiscuous
2 :
lots of unprotected sex. I had a gay roommate and alot of his friends were positive from having lots of casual sex without protection.
3 :
because gaymen can't stop putting there package where it does not belong!!
4 :
because gay people don't have to worry about pregnancy so they usually don't wear protection more often then straight people do
5 :
Well they are mostly sluts, i dont know how else to put it..... Most gay men will find a partner off the web or myspace, they meet up and have sex... most of them has unprotected sex....
6 :
Actually, the reality of this is that IT'S NOT. It's NOT more prevalent among gays than straight people, it's only about 40% gays and 60% heterosexuals. The reason gays get more attention over this topic is because in the 60's they were blamed because they reported it more and were more openly tested. Don't believe this nonsense! Anyone can get HIV/AIDS. However, anal sex can lead to more tearing, and since homosexual couples cannot have vaginal intercourse, there is a higher risk if they are having sex with an infected person. Then again, so is anyone when they have anal sex with an infected person.
7 :
Sorry this will be graphic. The skin of the anus is so much weaker and susceptible to tears than the vagina is. Sorry, it's true. A vagina is meant to take it, not an anus. Therefore HIV can get into the bloodstream easier if the skin is weaker. So it's not being gay that makes you more susceptible to getting AIDS, it's having anal sex with someone infected! But I guess that leads back to since the only sex gays can have is anal, they are more likely to get AIDS than a person with the option of doing it vaginally.
8 :
You are misinformed, it is actually higher among heterosexuals.
9 :
The main reason it is so prevalent among gay men (and it was first identified in gay men more than 20 years ago), is that risk of transmission of HIV through anal sex is the highest among all sexual activities, due to the high risk of bleeding, as someone explained above. That said, over the past several years, HIV has actually become much more prevalent in heterosexual women than in gay men.
10 :
Gay men were the first to rally around HIV and issues to help friends that were infected, this was over 25 years ago. If the gay population had not been so proactive we would not have gotten as far as we have in education and medical interventions. Yes there is a new mind set among younger gay men, with the advancement of medications they are not worried about dying as they use to be. There is also a mind set that "I'm gonna get it so I might as well get it and get it over". Yet the gay population is not on the highest risk right now- it's the heterosexual population. A lot do not think they are at risk and do not bother to test. People can be HIV+ for 10-12 years and not bother testing, because they do not feel they were at risk. WHere the gay population is great about testing and testing often.

Why do men get raped in prison sometimes? I mean cant they get aids/hiv from unprotected sex

Why do men get raped in prison sometimes? I mean cant they get aids/hiv from unprotected sex?
Why is prison rape allowed in the united states? If a man raped in prison comes back out in to society and contracted aid/hiv from prison and then has a wife and gives it to her etc. Is that not gross? Prison rape is not funny nor is it alright, contracting Hiv/aids is a death sentence. Rape is rape, whether it is a man raping a woman, another man, or child. Rape is rape and it should be condemned in prison and abroad. What does the yahoo community think about this issue?

1 :
I think rape in prison is wrong to because the person getting raped can be very traumatized and men get raped in prison because the other men perfurably the ones that are going to be thier for 20 to life and the hardened criminals arent going to see women for a long time so they feel they must get thier needs taken care of
2 :
prisoners can do prity much anything they want in the UN well with n reason lol, it keeps the prisoners from givn the guards a hard time. i had 2 redo my answer i miss read ur question lol.
3 :
I doubt a woman would have unprotected sex with a man who was released from prison without him getting tested and if he has unprotected sex while infected and passes it on he'll go right back to jail. 20% of inmates get raped. That's just how it goes. No different than 40% of women getting raped at some point in their lives outside of prison. Men are basically evil for the most part.
4 :
Rape is not allowed in prison, the guards are supposed to condem the peoplel that are responsilbe for raping the people. It is gross and wrong but the prison system is are not responsible for what goes on when the lights go out.

Why are there so many black people and gay people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS

Why are there so many black people and gay people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS?
It seems like rates of AIDS are extremely high in Africa and the gay community. Is there a connection gay and black people have with AIDS that just makes them so attached to that disease?
Religion & Spirituality - 19 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
I'm pretty sure it originated in Africa? & The disease spread quickly among the gay men because most are promiscuous.
2 :
Perhaps lack of sexual education? I.e. access to condoms as well?
3 :
Because the Catholic church told people in Africa not to use condoms, and anal sex carries a higher risk of passing on STDs. Pretty straight forward, if you think about it, which bigots generally don't.
4 :
In Africa there isn't as much knowledge about condoms and contraception, and many women there are promiscuous, so combine these two things and you get a boatload of AIDS. As for the gay community, I'm not sure. It could be the same with condoms and promiscuity but then again hetero's can be pretty slutty also.
5 :
Well aren't you just a lovely individual. People in Africa don't have access to the types of medical care that you take for granted in the industrialized world. And there are cultural issues which prevent African men from utlizing condoms *if* they're available at all. The gay community has similar issues, what with the lack of education and access to good LGBT-friendly medical services. A lot of gay and bisexual men also just take it for granted that they'll eventually contract HIV anyway, so they don't take the necessary precautions to avoid it. Then there's the fact that contracting HIV is no longer a death sentence, so gay men don't necessarily feel too worried about it.
6 :
AIDS is rampant in Africa because people have countless children simply because there is nothing better to do. These children are born with HIV and can develop AIDS. The gay community just has lots of unprotected sex and it spreads fairly quick
7 :
A) The virus is bloodborne, and thus transmits more easily through tears to the anal wall than through the vagina (which is both more structurally sound for intercourse without injury and is protected by a layer of secretions), so it's transmitted much more readily by anal sex. B) It originated on the border of Uganda, so it spread through Africa first.
8 :
Gay sex does have a higher transmission rate of disease because of the exposure from blood vessels being greatly increased. It just means that anal sex is more likely to spread HIV than other forms of sex. The race issue is mostly about the country, and the poor quality of access to proper education about what cases such things, and how to prevent them. As well as poor access to contraceptives, such as condoms. Though in some countries, syringes are equally as dangerous, and people pick them out of the garbage to clean them and sell them again, which isn't sterilizing them either.
9 :
lack of education and lack of contraceptives in Africa. Gays who knows ask one.
10 :
Ask the black dudes who have sex with your mom. At least you'll get half an answer.
11 :
In Africa far too little people use contraception /protection that protects them against the disease There is a lot of rape in some wartorn areas as well, which spreads the disease Also people are often uninformed about sexual knowledge/family planning If you're talking about African Americans? it's because there is a lot of promiscuity in many African American neighborhoods and often times people do not use protection Gay people often practice anal sex which is very risky--AIDS is easier spread through anal sex than vaginal because of the blood that's transmiitted In some gay communities people are very promiscuos not all but many And that may sound wrong, but I'm just saying what I've witnessed with some people.
12 :
Firstly, the AIDS epidemic in Africa stems from total lack of education amongst the population as to what safe sex is, coupled with inaccessibility to disease prevention devices such as condoms. As for the gay community, many of them (not all) have had many partners over time and this increases their exposure to the disease. However, failing to show and back up this question with appropriate medical statistics and more than likely a poor knowledge of the issue shows a blind ignorance. Any xian who claims that AIDS is part of god's wrath to Gay people only needs to look at the countless children born with it inherited and those who catch it unknowingly from sly partners that it is merely a disease that requires research and treatment, much like the common flu virus.
13 :
Well, STD's are usually more common among gays because they think they don't have to wear a condom. I don't know about Black people, though...
14 :
No connection at all. Gay people are receiving there just reward for their chosen lifestyle. So that they will know that there is a consequence for going against Gods will, God gives them up, and they receive what they asked for. It has been long known that the 3rd world populations are, and have been used as experimental humans by those that think humans are expendable, such as syphlis was injected in to black men, as an experiment years ago, and is only now being made known as fact.
15 :
HIV rates are extremely high in Africa due to a number of things: Poor education Poor health resources Lack of access to contraception Cultural and socioeconomic reasons AIDS rates are high due predominantly to the lack of availability of modern medicine. HIV/AIDS rates are higher in heterosexuals than in homosexuals - it's an old sterotype that its a "gay disease".
16 :
There isn't as much present knowledge, funding or information available to the uneducated in Africa.Gays have less of a reason to use condoms as they can't actually reproduce with each other.Obviously, you don't just have sex with someone if you suspect they are infected either.Straight couples just have more at stake, so they use protection more often.
17 :
Because HIV/AIDs was created by a right wing cabal for the express purpose of decimating the Black population of the world, that it entered the general population through a Gay vector was pure chance but in accord with their agenda
18 :
Well, everyone seemed to have answered the reason for the spread of HIV/AIDS: lack of education and medical resources, plus unprotected and often high-risk sex. The first recognized cases started in the US, NOT in Africa. The first patients were gay men.
19 :
The main cause of rising AIDS cases in the gay community, no matter where the gay community is located, is UNPROTECTED SEX. The same is true of ANY GROUP of individuals in ANY part of the World that have contracted the HIV. High and or rising reports of AIDS cases in Africa have a bunch of reasons why; SUPERSTITION being one of the main reasons. Many African men believe that having unprotected sex with pre-teen girls can cure them of AIDS so they rape young girls in an attempt to either not get the HIV or to attempt to cure themselves of AIDS. One responder accused African women of being promiscuous. One could very easily say that of CAUCASIAN WOMEN ALL OVER THE WORLD…and YES; that includes Caucasian women in the United States as well. The incidence of rape in African countries is high and that is also one of the main contributing factors of AIDS cases in Africa. AIDS isn’t bigoted or superstitious. HIV is affecting ALL of mankind; NO ONE is immune. HIV spreads from heterosexual to heterosexual; from heterosexual to gay and from gay to heterosexual; from Caucasian to people of color and from people of color to Caucasian. Until there is a cure EVERYONE MUST either practice safe sex, i.e. for males AND females to USE CONDOMS or be celibate. Spread the word.

How did the HIV/AIDS virus really start

How did the HIV/AIDS virus really start?

Infectious Diseases - 10 Answers

America had discoverable AIDS cases as far back as the 1950's, but it didn't reach total epidemic status until the late 1970's early 1980's. This film brings that information out. It also brings out the information that this disease, although concentrated in the gay community, had no specific target, anyone could/would get it. The people in my life were not all homosexual who contracted the disease but a few were just receivers of blood transfusions. At the time they received the blood, the test was not developed for screening. Just like the film points out, they too (family, friends, associates) suffered.
2 :
That's a million dollar question. No-one knows. There's speculation about it being a man made virus, originating from apes in Africa, a mutation of another virus but that's all it is - speculation. Scientists have been trying to trace it's origins for decades but without success.
3 :
it was either in Africa or in India and i think aids started because they would eat i think green monkeys ( that's the breed ) without draining the blood but go to answers.com they have a lot of information about almost anything you could think of
4 :
This one guy in Africa started it. He had sex with a monkey THIS IS NOT A JOKE so after that he must of spread it to different girls and they gave it to other people.
5 :
When you don't know a people and have unsafe sex with him or her, if he is a AIDS carrier than you are bound to have AIDS. Carrier means a person already infected with AIDS virus. Unsafe sex means sex without condom.
6 :
From what I read....it is found in certain species of monkey but does cause them any harm. There is a lot of speculations, how it jumped from the monkey to the human species?
7 :
someone fucked a monkey in africa with aids and then fucked a person and whammy everyone is dying. who fucks monkeys anyway?
8 :
There is a virus related to HIV that is called SIV, that is simian immunodeficiency virus. SIV appears to be the precursor to HIV, and SIV is endemic to the Congo. Like Ebola, it was hidden in the jungle for many years. The first known cases ("slim sickness") are in the 1930s in Africa; there were cases identified later as AIDS in the 1950s and it was soon afterward that the virus arrived in Haiti. While "And The Band Played On" is a good read, there are some doubts as to its strict accuracy. Gaetan Dugas, for example, only seems to exist in documents that cite the book.
9 :
Scientists have found HIV's ancestor viruses in some monkeys in Africa. It was probably transferred to humans when they ate the meat of chimpanzees. This is pretty certain because genetic analysis of the virus has discovered that its closest relative was in chimps. It got into humans in the early 1930's, but didn't become a "mainstream" virus until the early 80's.
10 :
One theory is that one strain of AIDS comes from the Green Monkey found in Africa. Scientists are not quiet sure how the virus was transported to humans though. HIV/AIDS was not heard of until it was discovered in homosexual men in America.

1 :
B/c unprotected sex is a lot more common with gays, since there is no risk of pregnancy. There is probably more partners too, since society does not exactly encourage long-term committed relationship between gays. Finally, chance of getting AIDS is lot higher during anal sex than during vaginal or oral one. I won't get into technical details since there are 13 year old on this site; I'll just say that AIDS is transmitted through blood.
2 :
Actually, if you bothered to research, you'd see you are wrong!! :@)
3 :
Because back in the eighties when HIV first became a major issue not many gay men used condoms, now obviously everyone does but also its because anal sex is a particularly dangerous form when it comes to transmitting STDs as the lining of the colon and that area is a particularly thin skin that tears easily, so during the act of anal sex some tearing can occur very easily leading to tiny openings for and std's to get into the blood stream, leading to a higher prevalence of HIV and other STDs... but now days everyone wears a rubber (not that i have experience) but thats the general response on here it seems...and i don't know if teh prevalence is as high anymore because of the increase in use of condoms.
4 :
Becuse they involve in more risky sexual behavors(as well as sex in volume) than other people do. Gay men can keep it in thier pants they just dont becuse people wont let us get married.
5 :
Well lesbians are at a lower risk to get STD's than hetero or gay couples. Mostly because STD's are harder to infect through the fingers or mouth, but don't get me wrong--accidents can still occur! On the other hand, Gay men are at the higher risk zone due to anal intercourse. Infected semen is more easily transmitted into the recipients bloodstream through the anus than it is throught the vagina. There's more cappilaries and veins surrounding the anus, and it's easier to infect someone if semen goes into direct contact in the bloodstream. It's not "promiscuity" of gay men or women, this is an ignorant legend.
6 :
HIV is actually decreasing among gay men, the fastest spread is among heterosexual women. The reason that you don't see ads in "heterosexual" magazines is the same that you don't see ads addressing any other STDs, they believe, as do you, that it's purely a gay problem and refuse to entertain any other possibility, so they take no precautions against it.
7 :
Read up on the statistics of AIDS/HIV, then come in here and ask your "not" loaded question. Gay people are NOT the ones most commonly diagnosed with AIDS/HIV. How about you go ask this question to the correct demographic?
8 :
Actually in the lesbian community we have the lowest prevalence of HIV/AIDS! Its a problem in the gay male community because schools and other institutions fail to teach safe sex practices for homosexuals. Its ridiculous. However we are active in trying to stop this and if you come to any pride event you will see we are doing our part. The real question is why isn't the government and school systems doing theirs!

What are your ideas of curing / eradicating HIV/AIDS

What are your ideas of curing / eradicating HIV/AIDS?
OK, SO UP TO DATE THERE IS NO CURE. But sometimes we often meditate and think of craziest or sensible ways that we can cure sicknesses, including HIV/AIDS. What concept would you come up with that you think can work? Otherwise, how can it be eradicated? (No hate answers or responses of profanity will be tolerated, as that willmay be reported to the administration of Yahoo! Answers.)
STDs - 8 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Well, some people has HIV/AIDS and are not affected, they are totally immune to it. Maybe we can use them to make some kind of cure or something.
2 :
We just need to come up with an HIV-equivilent virues for all the infectious diseases in the world so they'll be weaker too.
3 :
Handing out free condoms (that don't have the intructions stapled to them) and having an aggressive campaign in schools, and in the media. It would also help if big name celebrities were to join that campaign to raise awareness.
4 :
Provide hospitals in developing countries with sterile syringes, and train them in proper use and disposal. Dirty (re-used) syringes are a majour cause of the spread of HIV.
5 :
Nanobots. Inject nanobots into the bloodstream that change the protein matrix surrounding the virus. White blood cells would no longer recognize the protein matrix and wouldn't 'consume' the virus. Problem solved. Okay... so it's horribly improbable... but it would work. I think our best bet is with vaccine, they're making some pretty exciting progress with some strains.
6 :
Ideas? Yes I do: Stop having unprotected sex: this is one of the fastest ways that the disease is spread. The community has been educated, but they just aren't taking action. Some of them claim they couldn't help it because they were drunk or stoned, so there's another thing that needs to go. Stop sharing dirty needles: drug habits are the second fastest way to spread this disease. If people would take control of themselves and put a stop to foolish behaviors like these, you would see a drastic drop in the number of people with HIV. But it seems like such a dream doesn't it?
7 :
this is such a hard question, but if i could change one thing, it would be to stop the war in iraq and spending soooo much money on the military and take all those millions of dollars being WASTED and put it towards research for a cure, vaccine, education, and medication for the needy. what the hiv/aids problem needs is MORE MONEY and more focus, sometimes it really seems like it is not a priority at ALL to our government or people to help this epidemic here, and worldwide, when i personally believe it is a huge and tragic problem that needs much more attention and funding than it currently recieves.
8 :
Quite unfortunately, there's no modern cure for any strong diseases and health problems / complications like: Systemic Sclerosis (no strong cure yet, but there are ways to live with it "in harmony"), AIDS/HIV and Cancer (just to name the few). However, there is a way of making the patient feel better and ease their pain. Doctors are at loss as to what to do in any severe case of suffering. They gave a vow to serve and heal all without any resentment or double-guessing. All of them keep that vow even though it is hard for them, especially when they might / do loose a Patient knowing that they haven't done everything to help him/her in this case. I believe, due to the increase in the of population and high demand on this-and-that, modern technology and medicine are over-looking the other side of the curing / healing / improving someone's lifestyle: Alternative Medicines and Therapies. Alternative Medicines and Therapies include the following: Yoga, Acupuncture, Fasting, Herbal Therapies and Medicines, Aroma Therapies and many other ones that'll take days to describe. Chinese Herbalogists / Acupuncturists / Therapists -- they all have highest Medical Degrees in this field and can serve as the powerful source of information. If to look into how the body functions and behaves when certain problems arrise and how they affect the health and well-being of the person, you'll be able to find the answer practically for everything. The only requirements are: - Open-minded and positive outlook from the Patient, his/her family members, and the caring Professional who'll be helping the Patient. - Being able to look over everything that's present at the moment and look TOGETHER for the solutions. - Do not give up ahead of time and no matter what don't put it into the Patient's head "It can't be done" or "It's holpeless, there's no cure." Otherwise, once in his/her head, you'll see a negative reaction to the overall health and in worst case scenario, it'll deteriorate even worse and a lot faster. Think of it this way: Right before you'll drink a glass of water say out loud "It's the sweetest water I've ever tasted" and mean it when you say it. What do you think will happen? The result will be surprising: the water in the glass WILL taste as sweet as you never expected before. If THAT can do to the water, what do you will happen to an ill person's body when we consist of about 90% of H2O? I strongly believe that if the Modern Doctors / Health Professionals and Alternative Medicines and Therapies Professional would work as one and/or side-by-side WITHOUT hate / resentment / disgust / shock / fear and be more open-minded to BOTH sides. Surgeries will be performed less and Doctor's will valued a lot more than ever before, only because of working side by side with those who know SO much about other ways to heal and cure the Human Race. Can you believe the wonderful and positive changes that will be going on then? The Doctors will be trusted more and people will be able to depend on them a little bit more. And plus to that, the Alternative Medicine and Therapies will get the honor it so richly deserves in this modern life and in our world of the highly developed technology :) Just IMAGINE how strong the Medicine and Cures will be in ANY case and ANY problem that might arise again in the future... How many people we'll be able to safe and how many diseases we'll be able to prevent from ever occuring again... The numbers of healthier, stronger, and less fearfull of the unknown, people will rise expanentially. It'll be a new world, new life and new lifestyle, that can't be compared to anything we ever had or have. Just to let you know there are couple of books (out of so many available now in the book stores) on this called: - "Alternative Medicine: The Practical Guide" - "Foods that Harm, Foods that Heal" by Reader's Digest I have both of them, and always relying on what it is that they introduce as a "healthy-no-drugs-needed-in-specific-cases" way to solve an ailement. Best of luck, take care, and stay healthy :)

How long does it take for an HIV/AIDS test to come back

How long does it take for an HIV/AIDS test to come back?
im in the military and they recently gave me and blood test. its been about 3 months now. im not sure if it was an HIV/AIDS test. they say there going to draw blood and i say ok you know what i mean. but i havent heard back from them. if it was an HIV/AIDS test would they already have the results? and would they contact me if i had somethin?
STDs - 2 Answers

1 :
Hi there, If they asked you when your last sexual encounter was, and you answered within the last 3 months, it will take 3 months for results to come back. The reason for this is because they have to test if your blood is reactive to the hiv virus, and this can take 3 months to get a clear answer. In simple terms, they put hiv antibodies into the blood sample they took from you, and if your blood cells mimic the hiv antibodies then it is positive, if they don't it is negative. Obviously this doesn't happen immediately, so they monitor it over 3 months. If you havn't had a sexual encounter in the last 3 months, it usually takes one week. Most places which test often do the 3 month test to make absolutely sure. They should contact you whether the results are positive or negative, but i'd imagine that they would have had to do a large amount of testing at the same time so the delay might just be getting in touch with you. If there is someone you can contact e.g. the people who carried out the blood test, it would be a good idea to call and enquire about it :) Also don't panic, HIV isn't as common as the media makes out. Im unsure of USA statistics but in the UK only 1% of the population has it :) Hope this helps you.
2 :
Another answer indicates that it would take 3 months for the lab to get the results back. That is not true. The results would have been back long ago. However, HIV testing can not be done without the written consent of the person being tested, so if you did not ask for the test and sign a consent form, it would have been illegal for them to test you for HIV. They should have told you exactly what they were testing for, and how long it would take to get the results back. Call them and check. Also: It can take 3 months, or in very rare cases, up to 6 months, for someone to test positive for HIV after they get infected. (More than 98% of people who have HIV would test positive within 3 months.) Testing is recommended 3 months after possible exposure, followed by retesting 6 months after possible exposure.

Reagan was unable to even SAY the word "AIDS" until the last of his so-called presidency. He was really a super uptight white guy.
5 :
He believed that AIDS was God's retribution for homosexuality and he was right!

Reagan went along with his advisers on this and felt that AIDS is "nature's revenge on gay men."

Pornograhics is teaching unsafe sex acts causing HIV/AIDS and should pornograhic sellers be sued

Pornograhics is teaching unsafe sex acts causing HIV/AIDS and should pornograhic sellers be sued?
Pornograhics are teaching the young to have anal sex and unprotected sex .Should sellers and makers of pornograghics be sued by government or should government be sued for approving film that causes disease.?David Harris.

not gettin' any are ya?
2 :
Are you retarted? Can't sue people for something like that, especially if they don't even say anything about it in the movie..
3 :
Im sorry, but you are wrong. First off, the reason our children are having ANY sex is because, as parents, we are soooo scared to sit down and discus sex w/ our children! We sit back and say that its the Schools responseability to teach our kids about the stuff thats a little uncomfortable. And CHRISTIANS are even worse, telling kids sex is bad and making boys feel ashamed for admiring the naked female body. I AM A MAN AND I LOVE TO LOOK AT NAKED WOMEN! If GOD(s) didnt want us to look they why are they sooo pretty? What is causing AIDS/HIV is some ppl 100's of years ago humping animals. But today it is uneducated ppl who are against prostitution. If it were legal to prostitute then we could create laws that make sure the prostitutes are clean and in safe situations as well as the "johns". Plus we could make a ton of cash off taxing sex. Im sorry that you cant love the bodies GOD(s) gave us. Your question is like asking.....Should we sue Ford for all the Ford car crashes? drrr! no!
4 :
Sued? Are you kidding? Their not doing anything wrong! Maybe the idiot parents need to be slapped for not sitting down and actually talking to their kids about sex. Probably 80% of kids these days never get the "talk" and get their sex education from their friends.
5 :
Which Christian cult do you belong to Dave? Mormon, Babtist...
6 :
No... Producers of PORN do not force you to watch it. Neither should the producers of DIE HARD - be sued if someone gets the Idea to blow up a building from watching it. In this LIBERAL WORLD... where PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY is out the window... blaming the producers of adult films for YOUR bad choices - elevates the ridiculous to the sublime. Porn is to sex as PRO WRESTLING is to fighting. Everyone know it.
7 :
I don't think it is the gov't place to sue anyone. I believe a law should be passed if it poses a public threat such as disease communication. Since it is nationwide and crosses state lines, it could be a federal issue. I am not against states making laws either. It is not protected under the First Ammendment. It is not speech. The First Ammendment protects individuals from government prosecution for expressing dissent. The Supreme Court is wrong.
8 :
If anything, doesn't porn encourage masturbation? ...Now how on earth did one of the previous answers include an attack on Democrats?
9 :
That is the same argument that has been tried against gun makers and the tobacco companies. It is totally possible a lawsuit could be filed, but it will depend on how powerful the porn lobby is and how much money it at their disposal to wear out the plantiff(s).
10 :
Usually pornographic films and materials have their own "underground" distribution network, so the government never gets to approve any of it. However, in the US, porn is protected by the Bill of Rights under Freedom of Expression.
11 :
and Congress is teaching corruption, greed and chaos....they should be sued also.
12 :
Pornography is hardly a "teaching tool" for anything; it is a form of entertainment geared towards a specific adult audience, and countless federal court rulings have upheld its legality under the First Amendment. Neither is pornography responsible for any epidemic. It is the person who engages in such risky behavior that is ultimately responsible. (Taking human nature into account, one does not truly need porn to be able to partake in such acts to begin with.)
13 :
First: If you actually watch a pornographic movie you will see that there are warnings about unprotected sex and disclaimers about the performers being tested regularly. Second: There is nothing wrong with anal sex as long as both partners are consenting
14 :
then the abstinence only movement would also need to be sued for committing the same crime in public schools.

Can people with HIV/AIDS work in the medical field as a nurse

Can people with HIV/AIDS work in the medical field as a nurse?
I am doing research on a paper that I am writing for class. I want to know how it is living with HIV/AIDS.
STDs - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
It is not advisable because while administering injections & intravenous drips, the nurse can accidentally get own finger pierced which could result in transfer of infection 2 the patient.
2 :
If you are a medical professional, you obviously take standard precaution regardless of the patient you care for.If, you come to know that someone has any blood borne disease, you will be more vigilant in your practice. Likewise, why can`t we care our patient with the same precaution even if, we have HIV/AIDS?I do agree the risk in it. Recently, a huge outbreak of MRSA attracted everyone concern in a large Intensive care setting. According to the advise of the Infection control team, every patient and staff of the particular unit had been screened for MRSA. The results have shown that few of the staff carried MRSA.Now, what is your conclusion?Whom to blame? The infected staff were given medical leave and allowed to return to their work after they have been cleared of the infection. The problem comes only when, the patient became aware of your status that you have got HIV.You may honestly declare to your patient but, you are not certain what you get in return. But, having said that, you would not declare all your personal and confidential matter to your patient prior looking after them.Neither, it is mandatory for you nor for your patient. Caring patients will also be a problematic if, you started to show up debilitating symptoms of AIDS.In this stage,I would not recommend anyone to care for their patients.Because, in this stage, they them self need lot of care. Stopping people with HIV/AIDS,from work in my opinion ,is the way of discriminating against them. They can be permitted to work as long as they are physically and mentally healthy.Support from the peer and employer is mandatory. When, you accept drug addicts, physically handicapped, people with learning disability into the medical field, why not a HIV nurse or doctor?. This require a sensitive decision. Regards,
3 :
I dont see why not but should let the hospital know that you are sick. but I dont why should not be able to work, all you have to do is take precaution just like person that is not sick.
4 :
Yes people with HIV/AIDS can work as nurse's, doctors, or anything else associated with a hospital. Anyone who wants to enter into the medical field is taught to use universal precautions. Universal precautions are infection control guidelines designed to protect workers from exposure to diseases spread by blood and certain body fluids. The Laboratory Centre for Disease Control, Health Canada and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control have developed the strategy of "Universal Precautions" to prevent contact with patient blood and body fluids. Universal precautions stress that all patients should be assumed to be infectious for blood-borne diseases such as AIDS and hepatitis B. They have to assume that every patient is infected, and have to use all kinds of safety guidelines: gloves, proper discarding of sharps and needles, masks. People are so afraid of persons who have HIV/aids because they don't want to be infected with the virus, but people without the virus are more of a danger to them then they realize. Working in a hospital is more of a risk to them because of the diseases like the common cold, flu, and other immune attacking viruses. I commend them for working in hospitals because they put themselves at more risk of getting sick. As long as they use their universal precautions there is no way they can spread their disease to anyone else.

how long after contracting hiv/aids will it take to be definitely apparent

how long after contracting hiv/aids will it take to be definitely apparent?
I mean if you get a blood test two days after you get it will it definitely show up? Or should you wait six months or something?
Medicine - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
You have to wait at least 3 months - it's called the window period where the virus may not show up
2 :
To learn more about HIV and AIDS, check out these sites below. I would start with the CDC website.
3 :
My father's infectious disease doctor always told us it could be as late as six or nine months before the ELISA test will show antibodies for the viral infection...so not only should you be tested at six months, but maybe at nine months, too. When you have been exposed, it is important to test more than once, because sometimes individual results are not accurate. It is possible to get a false positive, as well as a false negative. I know it's scary...it's a hard wait...but hang in there! Keep in mind that HIV is only transmitted from the transfer of bodily fluids, including blood, semen, vaginal fluids, and breast milk. HIV is NOT transmitted through saliva, sweat or urine. If you kissed someone with HIV, you wouldn't be at risk unless that person had a huge bleeding cut in his/her mouth. You cannot get HIV from contact with a person's skin. Risky practices associated with HIV include unprotected sex (oral, vaginal, and anal), sex during which a condom breaks, and using intravenous drugs (like heroin). HIV is rarely transmitted through dentist/doctors offices, anymore. It is rarely transmitted through blood transfusions. Careful screenings are now done to ensure sanitation. Approximately 1% of the population has a fortunate deletion mutation in its genetic coding for CD4 receptors. It is called the Delta-32 mutation. If you are part of this 1%, you are highly unlikely to catch HIV upon exposure. Do not, however, rely on this protection, if you are tested for this mutation. That said, if you think you have been exposed, peace of mind is always a good thing and you should get tested. Refrain from unprotected sexual activity and NEVER, under any circumstances, use an illicit IV drug. Never share needles.

Can I have HIV/AIDS if my boyfriend licked my vaginal discharge?
When me and my boyfriend were together during this October and November, we did things like oral sex, making out, touching each other, 69, and he fingered me. But when I gave oral sex to who is now my ex, he didn't even cum. But can discharge cause HIV/AIDS, from 69?

How close are they to finding a cure For HIV, AIDS, Genital herpes

How close are they to finding a cure For HIV, AIDS, Genital herpes?
Im just wondering. Also do you think there will ever be a cure?
STDs - 5 Answers

1 :
There has not ever been nor will there probably ever be a cure for any virus. Only "treatment" for symptoms.
2 :
They cannot cure the common cold. No, they are not close. The problem is, they find something that will counteract or slow-down one string of virus and then the virus mutates from person to person. So the same things don't work for others that may help some. I don't think there will ever be a cure. I think we are looking at it wrong. It's like the fly that keeps running into a window when there is a door open 3 feet away. I read a theory that some people in England have certain things in their blood that PREVENT them from contracting HIV/AIDS. If they can duplicate it, and reproduce it in mass quantities, we may be able to control the spreading of HIV/AIDS. I am always hopeful that there will be a way. There HAS to be a way.
3 :
they have treatments and medications for all of those, but not yet cures. but i really wish the could cure herpes since i have them.
4 :
The problem is the outer shell of the virus:you need to make a key that fits to get to the core. And kill it. The horrible HIV-virus changes all the time:years ago there were 4 variants:lost track after that. And viruses cannot be cured at all. The symptoms can be treated. Sorry for all those million infected:they will die anyway.Especially in Africa:no money to get treatment. Sky Been a "buddy"for years till the meds got that much better that HIV /Aids patients can take care of themselves. Greetings:Sky.
5 :
I don't think there will ever be a cure. Hopefully a vaccine at some point.

If you are circumsized will you have less chance of contracting HIV/AIDS

If you are circumsized will you have less chance of contracting HIV/AIDS?
Is it true that if you are not circumsized you have MUCH higher chance of contracting HIV AIDS? Some one told me this is true, but surely if you are having unprotected sex (whether snipped or not), you have an increased chance of contraction. This seems like a totally stupid argument that being circumsized is going to prevent infection.

Can me and my boyfriend get HIV AIDS if we are virgins

Can me and my boyfriend get HIV AIDS if we are virgins?
Well me and my boyfriend are virgins. Let's say we started to have allot of unprotected sex with only each other his mom doesn't have it or my mom could we still get AIDS?
STDs - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
No, I don't think you can get aids but really make sure he hasn't been having sex with anyone else that he is not admitting. And as always, unprotected sex can be dangerous unless you know your partner very well and absolutely know he hasn't had sex with someone else.
2 :
*facepalm* No. You don't get any type of STDs just because the sex is unprotected. You get them if you are unprotected and the other person has the STD. It's like putting your hand in the oven. You won't get burned if the heat isn't on. The heat has to be on for you to get burned.
3 :
No, not if you don't already have it. It doesn't just appear out of nowhere. There are other ways to get it besides sex, like blood transfusions or dirty needles. So being a virgin doesn't necessarily mean you're HIV free. But to stick to your question lol, if you're positive neither of you have it, then no you won't get it.
4 :
You cannot get HIV by having sex with HIV-negative person. However, if you do intravenous drugs with used needles, had wound that was contaminated with blood from HIV-positive person, got blood transfusion from HIV positive person, you may (and you'd better :-)) remain virgin for rest of your life and be HIV-infected. You also can be technically a virgin while having anal sex.

What's the financial burden for adopting a child with aids/hiv

What's the financial burden for adopting a child with aids/hiv?
I would like to know how much prescription drugs for hiv/aids patients costs and how much, if any, medicaid contributes. Please include sources.

Adopting a child with AIDS is a HUGE responsibility; not only morally but also financially. If you can afford it; I would say go for it! Helping a child is the best thing you could ever do! btw, I found a really good site for the cost of monthly meds. I hope that helps. As for using medicaid for the drugs, back in '97, the Clinton administration vetoed a bill that would not allow medicaid to help with AIDS meds and ever since then, it has been an sluggish situation. Some states have their own rules for if and how medicaid can be used for AIDS meds, but you would have to contact a medicaid adviser and see what the state laws say in regards to that. Good luck

Hello everyone, My name is Mrs Maureen Sliver and life is worth living comfortably now for me and my family now and every day of my life now, i sit down and smile and thank GOD for saving us because i am a mother of three kids and i my husband encountered a terrible accident in the past that made him suffer from a serious spinal cord injury that have made him to be unable to stand, walk or work and his doctors states that he needs to undergo a delicate surgery for him to be able to walk again and we could not afford the bills for his surgery and his medications costs us so much weekly and i have been solely responsible for the up keep of the family ever since and life felt so hard and it to a point we have no funds for our rent we were about getting evicted from our house by our landlord and we felt so terrible as we could barely eat until one very faithful day, i was browsing through yahoo answers and i came accross a loan lender Mrs Lillian Johnson who provides loans at an affordable interest rate and i have been hearing about so many scams on the internet but at this my desperate situation, i had no choice than to give it an attempt and suprisingly it was all like a dream, i received a loan of $70,000 USD and we payed our rent and did not get evicted from our house and my husband had his surgery and thank GOD today he is okay and can walk and is working and the burden is longer so much on me and we can feed well and my family is happy today and i said to my self that i will shout aloud to the world of the wonders of GOD to me through this GOD fearing lender Mrs Lillian Johnson and i will advise anyone in genuine and serious need of loan to contact this GOD fearing lender via lillianjohnsonloancompany22@yahoo.com
3 :
The average cost for prescription drugs alone per year is in the neighborhood of $20k-$30k. In my state, your burden for the drugs if the child is on Medicaid will be less than $100. Many states have special programs for those with AIDs/HIV. You should review your options.
4 :
You should seek state coverage and assistance--
5 :
It will depend what state you are in. There is ADAP for persons living with HIV It is based on income. My partner is HIV+ and his medications are basically cover by his insurance. He pay out around $ 80.00 per month. So look at all of your options. Good Luck

Do you think condom is the solution to an increasing HIV or Aids cases on our society today

Do you think condom is the solution to an increasing HIV or Aids cases on our society today?
This is in relation to government spending million to buy a lot of condom to be distributed to Filipinos as an answer to increasing number of HIV/Aids cases on our society.
STDs - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Morals and abstinence work better!....
2 :
So they give you condoms and this is increasing the number of HIV/AIDS cases ? Hmm, maybe you're not using them right. You are putting them over top of the head to catch the ejaculant , aren't you ?
3 :
Yes, they work well to prevent infection. Abstinence is a little more effective for individuals, but you won't get everyone to follow it, especially in countries where women have less power and don't always have the option of saying no. For societies, the most effective reduction schemes follow the ABC method - Abstinence, Be faithful, use Condoms.
4 :
Condoms prevent HIV transmission. But bear this in mind: 1) Latex condoms. Lambskin condoms do not prevent transmission. Polyurethane condoms are a very good alternative to latex, if you are allergic to the latter, although they have not been completely studied. 2) Condoms have an expiration date on the package. Make sure the condom has not expired. 3) Comdoms will weaken if they undergo friction or elevated temperatures. Carrying a condom in your wallet "in case you get lucky" is not a good idea at all. Abstinence only programs are just a joke.
5 :
Educating the people and increasing the awareness about the virus and the infection is perhaps the best means of preventing the disease. The use of condoms during sexual contact can greatly reduce the risk of infection. To get accurate testing consult your Local STD Testing Centers, everything here is guaranteed accurate and reliable.

What is the connection between HIV/AIDS and heroin addiction

What is the connection between HIV/AIDS and heroin addiction?
Those diseases are sexually transmitted, right? Then how come that treating heroin addicts are able to lower the number of people who are afflicted with such diseases?
Other - Health - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
it is not just sexually transmitted. aids can also be contracted by sharing a dirty needle. heroin addicts use needles therefore transferring the disease to others that use his/her same dirty needle
2 :
Sharing needles or using unsanitary needles is decreased so in turn may cause a decrease in transmitting the virus.
3 :
Well, the truth is, HIV/AIDS and drug abuse/heroin usage are almost inseparable. This is due to the fact that there is a proliferation of the sharing of drug paraphernalia. Needles, cotton swabs, tourniquets, and cookers are being used by the drug users and then pass it on for another person to use, thus making the other person vulnerable to the affliction of the disease especially because the virus is easily transmitted from one individual to the other. The virus can easily transfer to the other person by an infected blood or body fluid's contact wtih an uninfected person's mucous membranes, broken skin, or blood. There is also the fact that a person who does drugs may have only very little control over his own actions. This could lead to uninhibitions and imulsiveness, therefore causing him to make rash decisions. This could lead him to perform sexual activities with an infected person, and he can transfer the virus to somebody else. Once the patient is infected with the virus, this further dulls the brain and puts his life in grave danger.
4 :
The other two are correct. Dirty needles.
5 :
sharing needles

2 :
Why?? Do you know how much of hard work it was, to make the virus??
3 :
The ones making TONS of $$ of the disease probably aren't doing a thing. The cure itself is what I am more interested in now. There is a preventative treatment but it is a path no one wants to take. CONDOMS or no sex. C'mon, who wants that? Just find a cure and we will all be happy. (except the bible thumpers and right wingers. Oh, and the companies making Billions of dollars from the meds. too.)
4 :
Not many focus on HIV/AIDS drugs b/c the return on investment is too low. Sure, there are some pharma companies that have HIV/AIDS drugs in the pipeline (Pfizer) but their focus - BECAUSE THEY ARE A BUSINESS - is on more common disease states (hypertension, arthritis, dyslipidemia, COPD). Merck probably does minor research, too. Don't know of any European companies but there probably are some.

What is the relationship between HIV AIDS and Leukemia

What is the relationship between HIV AIDS and Leukemia?
Can one be the causative factor for another? How?
STDs - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
You should use zerit, it is the best about it you can get information from here http://mdcan2.notlong.com/9AAUjbi
2 :
Yes, very good question. Many people, even medical professionals aren't aware of the relationship. Leukemia is basically abnormal white blood cells.. typically immature. But the gross definition is 'abnormal white blood cells'. This abnormality causes the symptoms and problems associated with leukemia. Which is why blood transfusions and current therapies work in the way they do. HIV is a completely different entity -- so how on earth are they related? Well quite simply HIV infection causes an imbalance in growth factors. Some of these growth factors and hormones cause bone marrow cells to grow. On occasion (in fact it's only on a very rare occasion) some of these bone marrow cells grow and become leukemic. (In case you aren't aware, the bone marrow produces the blood cells... in this case white blood cells. So you alter the creator of the cell, the cells will be created abnormally, hence leukemia.) Example of growth factor is IGF-1 -- bodybuilders often use a growth factor for lean muscle mass,.. at the risk of predisposing themselves to carcinogenic activity. Hope that helps.
3 :
1. HIV is a virus that attacks CD4 T Cells (one of 2 T cells CD4 and CD8). Essentially what will happen is that over time the virus will eliminate all of the CD4 T Cells (you will still have CD8 T cells "the other type"). CD4 T cells have 2 functions: they stimulate the activation of B cell secretion of antibodies and they recruit other immune cells (macrophages) to destroy pathogens. Once CD4 T cells reach a low level a huge chunk of the adaptive immune system is not protecting the individual so an HIV patient usually succumbs to opportunistic pathogens that typically don't cause harm in individuals with functional CD4 T Cells. (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome = gradual loss of CD4 T Cells). 2. Leukemia is cancer of the blood or bone marrow. It's a general term and can be distinguished by cancer of any of the leukocytes to include CD4 T cells. There are many different types and causes of leukemia, one of which is caused by a virus that targets CD4 T cells. If it was my HW, I would say that both HIV and Leukemia affect leukocytes (general term = white blood cells) and result in a decreased adaptive (humoral) immune response. Individuals with HIV (and other virus infections) are at a HIGHER RISK of developing certain leukemias.
