Is it possible to get HIV/AIDS in the military in battle

Is it possible to get HIV/AIDS in the military in battle?
if you were in the military and your buddy(who had aids) got shot and you had to carry him or got blood on you, and you then rubbed your eyes, nose or mouth or whatever, or even a cut/wound you had would you be able to get hiv or aids in a battle in the military? or do they separate people with aids to a special unit or something?

Lot's of probabilities. THEORETICALLY it is possible. However, If I'm not wrong, soldiers are tested for HIV, so they would probably not be in the military.
2 :
soldiers may pick up HIV after being initially tested. yes, anythings possible. but the #1 way to get HIV/AIDS in the military in a battle is to have sex with someone who has HIV/AIDS while in battle....as you can imagine, this may be a feat that would win you a metal, regardless of an unfortunate STI contraction.

What have you done to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS

What have you done to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS?
Since today is AIDS Awareness Day, I was wondering what you have done to make more people aware about the AIDS virus and how to prevent HIV/AIDS to others especially to children and teens? We should inform children, teens, and adults about the serious AIDS virus and how we can prevent spreading the virus.

Well I would say not having sex without a test. Lol.
2 :
Nothing at all. I work in a school and the fact that this was Aids awareness day was not even brought up by anyone. We all live in a state of denial.
3 :
CELIBACY GOD BLESS
4 :
nothing
5 :
teens, mite be hard cuz they have a mind of their own and their hormones are just raging. adults can stop sleeping around, be faithful to their partners. use protection.
6 :
I'm in nursing school, we do HIV/AIDS education all the time. Also, I practice absitnence, waiting for that special someone.
7 :
I get tested regularly.
8 :
Get tested!!! There are free clinics throughout the USA for HIV/AIDS testing. Example: Red Door Clinic. You can give them a donation to cover the cost of the test but if you don't have the money they will still give you the test for free. Please go get tested it only takes about an hour out of your day that hour can save you or someone else.
9 :
Testing Myself, In the Past. Not Enough. In my Opinion, One Big Thing, to Keep the HIV From Spreading, Would Be if Anti-Virals Were Not So Expensive and Widely Available.

how does memory work build resilience in children affected by HIV/AIDS

how does memory work build resilience in children affected by HIV/AIDS?
memory work is a process of preparing children whose parents/gurdians are terminally ill due to HIV.It involves among others open disclosour to children, will making, dicision making about future careers, showing close relation family history and tree....The benefits to mothers has been usad so as to expand memory to communities afflicted with HIV,but am wondering if memory work leads to the building of resilience in children and how do we know if children are resilient?

Children are innately resilient. If we are honest with them and explain complex subject matters to them at a cognitive level that they can comprehend, they will absorb the information and accept it as an integral part of their mental function. We only get ourselves in trouble when we attempt to obfuscate the truth. Children can usually see right though that facade.

What EVIDENCE is there to support the US gov involvement in developing and/or distributing HIV/AIDS

What EVIDENCE is there to support the US gov involvement in developing and/or distributing HIV/AIDS?
Skeptics: please donĂ¢€™t insult me as i tend to lean toward your side on this issue. Instead, please provide evidence of the actual origins of HIV/AIDS Proponents: while I might be skeptical, the implications of such a thing being true are far too great to ignore the possibility. I am open to new information, but please make sure your sources are credible. Others: if you dont have evidence or something interesting to say, please just (star the question and...) move on

I dont know of any reported evidence in this regard. File under Paranoia
2 :
I, myself, have never seen evidence that supports this claim. I have seen evidence that supports the claim that AIDS' origin is from primates in Africa. Here is a good link that looks at the history and conspiracies: http://www.avert.org/origins.htm
3 :
Everything I've ever heard or read in the last 25 years regarding HIV suggests it did originate in other simians and made its way into humans. Don't ever completely trust the government, but view conspiracy theories with healthy skepticism as well.
4 :
Is it too much to believe that this wasn't a massive conspiracy and just a case of nature making the point that our species is not invulnerable? Given that the most common transmission vectors are unsafe sex practices and the sharing of needles, isn't there a personal responsibility element here? As far as evidence goes, there must be numerous epidemiology texts and websites on this topic. Try doing a Yahoo search on Origins of HIV.
5 :
It is well documented that the US Military was developing immune system resistant viruses for decades prior to the breakout of AIDS. It is also common knowledge that the Military experimented with syphillus on soldiers of a certain race, without the soldiers knowledge. While this is not evidence it does cast a shadow on the government and suggest the proclivity to experiment on the population.

Paul Farmer, physician, anthropologist, and author of AIDS and Accusation: Haiti and the Geography of Blame, describes beliefs held by many Haitians that, while official accounts in the United States blame Haitians for the advent of AIDS in the West, the disease was actually sent to Haiti by Americans. A common theme is that the U.S. wanted to get rid of Haitians because too many had immigrated to the States to work and jobs were running low. Assessing these (and other) conspiracy theories with a "hermeneutic of generosity," Farmer finds that they are based on a great deal more truth than many official accounts from the early days of the epidemic. Epidemiological studies reveal that the virus did indeed enter Haiti via Americans - gay tourists who had sex with young male sex workers, forced to perform this work due to abject poverty. The high rates of poverty, malnutrition, and poor medical infrastructure allowed the HIV virus to spread easily within the Haitian population. By engaging in a macro-level analysis and examining the history and political economy of Haiti, Farmer describes the important role the slave trade, Western (neo)colonial powers, and the United States in particular, played in the current poverty of Haitians. In the words of Farmer, "AIDS, although a new disease, is deeply embedded in social and economic structures long in place... violence, poverty, and inequality are the fault lines along which HIV spreads."

well...i dont know if u would consuder this evidence or interesting but i do have something to say about the situation mother nature created a cure for every disease known to man..yes! even cancer 714- (trimethyl chloride) is a drug not legal in the united states yet it has been known to cure cancer (i actually have a friend who has an uncle who crossed the border to mexico to illegally bring back this drug,he was a cancer patient,3 years later, the cancer was gone but unfortunately he was caught w the drug and imprisoned.) now heres an interesting fact...studies have shown the aids virus to be identical to 2 other viruses VISNA..(which causes a fatal disease in sheep but not humans and HTLV-1 (human T-Cell lekeumia virus) the similarity can not be explained by natural mutulation or evolution..it seems the only possible explanation is that it was artifically created the whole monkey theory i believe was created by a racist ignorant a$shole to make black people look bad (like they go around fu(king monkeys) however the reality is it may have been created as some sort of warfare there is NO evidence that the aids virus was around in africa till the mid 80's but the first documented case was in the late 70's in new york there is no earthly made cure for aids...anything made by the earth the earth has provided a cure for....yes, man may doc it up a little but the earth gave the sources..there is some controversy that it was first tested on prison inmates in trade for an early release. ALSO....there was a 10 million dollar research project announced by the pentagon in 1969 and during the period between 1969-1978 there was a top secret project going on at fort detrick...the results of that project have failed to ever be announced and with that i think ive said enough good question!
8 :
we sure ... meaning the federal government certainly are not doing enough to eradicate the disease!
9 :
The government of the United States had and has absolutely nothing to do with the development of aids . It does little to prevent aids because current thinking is that not having sex is the only solution . Thats like telling people if we can stop the rain you never have to get wet again . Never mind selling them raincoats ,umbrellas and building shelters to come in out of the rain . Stupidity is at an all time high in America .
10 :
You can blame USA on a lot of bad stuff but NOT AIDS , it came from Africa, I wonder in my head why all your questions make USA very bad , We are not the best country , we have many bad things , but the people of USA are honestly good people - wallalhi

Serious question regarding HIV/ Aids and the possibility of transmission

Serious question regarding HIV/ Aids and the possibility of transmission?
Hi, I want to know what are the chances of being infected with HIV/ Aids while i had a small cut on my lips and was bleeding a small amount. I used some paper towels i got from a meat department in a grocery store to stop the bleeding. So what are my chances that i can contract HIV/Aids in that situation? or is it even possible?
Infectious Diseases - 4 Answers

1 :
If bodily fluid (saliva doesn't count) came into contact with the open wound from someone who is currently infected with HIV/AIDS, then yes, it is possible to contract it.
2 :
In that manner, you cannot catch HIV. HIV dies in the air; it must remain in blood or another fluid to remain alive. Since you got those paper towels while they were exposed to air, HIV would have died even if someone had put the virus on the paper towel (which the chance of that is so small that it is practically impossible). You can catch some things doing that, but nothing dangerous and certainly not HIV.
3 :
not possible. you get it from sexual contact.
4 :
i highly doubt u contracted HIV/AIDS from the cut on ur lip unless someone with the disease helped u and also had a cut on a finger that was bleeding and touched u with said finger on ur lip. u cant contract the disease from a paper towel and HIV/AIDS only lives outside the body for a few minutes.

It's a good sign, but I think it's impossible to be cured. Sorry.
2 :
Don't get your hopes too high, last I heard there was still no cure.
3 :
Once a person has HIV/AIDS that person is eventually going to die from this horrible disease. THERE IS NO CURE! Once you have it that's it! I think whatever doctor your friend is seeing, is incompetent if he/she has told your friend that the disease is no longer detectable in their body!
4 :
Everyone else's response is correct in the fact that HIV is incurable. However, although this individual may be coming up with an HIV negative test, he still has the disease. To explain the anomaly in positive vs. negative tests, it all has to do with how HIV works against the body and the body's production of white blood cells. 6 months or so after the initial infection, the body's WBC count will be extremely high. This is why many doctors will wait to test you if you think you have contracted the disease, since by this 6 month time frame your body will have reacted enough to start fighting the virus. Over time the body's WBC count will drop and the disease itself will seem to be in remission. However, during this time HIV is destroying the immune system slowly. As your immune system weakens you will eventually develop AIDS since your immune system has been run down so severely. Usually people die from AIDS-complicated illnesses such as pneumonia or influenza. Sorry this was lengthly, but I hope this helps!
5 :
interesting question. take the case of magic johnson. once he knew he tested positive, he immediately started taking the "cocktail" drugs. now 15 years later when he tests for hiv his results are "negative". let me explain, his doctors believe that johnson STILL has hiv and have advised him to continue his medication. they think the disease is dormant. nobody is suggesting that johnson stop taking his medicine just because he no longer tests positive. the johnson case seems to suggest that if hiv is treated properly (the guy gets the best medical treatment) then hiv is no longer an immediate death sentence, but a long term, manageable disease. i am not a doctor, and i am only passing on information from an article i read years ago. the moral of this story is always the same: condoms.
6 :
Sorry hun, but short of a miraculous healing from God, HIV is a death sentence. Once you get it, that's it; you're positive once and for all.
7 :
With medications ones viral load can be reduced to undectable levels. This is a very good thing, but it does not constitute a cure. There is no cure, yet.
8 :
People that are HIV+ don't get cured. HIV does not go away, but it might be that his viral load is so low that it will not be picked up on a HIV test. It just means that the meds are doing their job. But it does not mean he is cured.

How Close is the World to Finding a Cure to HIV / AIDS?
I have been HIV Positiive for Little Over 2 years and I believe I am Equipped with a Rare Strain of HIV that Will not Develop to AIDS, and Recent Extensive lab Research about My DNA & The HIV Virus Contained therein Authenticates this Finding.
