should people with the HIV/AIDS or other dangerous sexually transmitted diseases have to register

should people with the HIV/AIDS or other dangerous sexually transmitted diseases have to register?
There are people that knowing have these STD's and will have unprotected sex with others at their expense. Should this be criminal? yes, if a person knows he has HIV/AIDS and has sex with someone who doesn't know or some other disease of the sort it is BAD! That's exactly what I'm saying... A friend of mine had sex with a woman that knowingly had an STD. He found out and the woman knew she had it. People should not be allowed to go around doing that even though the guy was stupid for having unprotected sex with the woman. She needs to be publicly known and people of that sort! You shouldn't be able to protect the guilty and put the ignorant at risk like that. So what if someone like that gets victumized! What about what she is doing? What about the smaller ones like herpes or a few others you can not get rid of? That would be like me going out and giving people broken noses or breaking thier arms and legs! "I didn't kill them so what?" is a bad way of looking at that one...

They should be shipped to a desert island, then nuke the island.
2 :
I believe it should. They should at least have a tattoo or something around their privates that say STD So that everyone will be aware. And if you are too drunk not to notice than maybe you should quit drinking.
3 :
we already have an infectious disease register in australia, but it is a private government register. do wanna have the list so people can be safer, or do u want the list so u can find people to victimise and bash?
4 :
You said "will have unprotected sex with others". So, are you assuming that everyone with HIV or AIDS automatically intends to deliberately infect others? Or are you limiting your question to only those who admit to that intent and plan to take action on it? If the latter, then they've just also admitted to attempted battery, or arguably attempted murder, and should be locked up. If you mean punishing people (and forced public registration is punishment) just becasue they have a disease, even if they've done everything possible to prevent it from spreading, then that's just biogtry and hatred. Criminal conduct requires a mental state, either intent to harm or reckless disregard of harm, combined with some action in furtherance of that harm. You cannot punish people if they haven't done anything yet.
5 :
And where does that end? If you are having unprotected sex with a person that you don't know well enough to know about a terminal illness, then you deserve to get it and suffer the consequences. There is this thing called "right to privacy", and there would be other prejudices against those with HIV/AIDS because it is seen as "a gay disease" (even after all these years), and homosexuals would be targeted. And those with AIDS that weren't homosexual would be judged as such, and have their careers/lives ruined. And then there is this little technicality of HIV - one can have HIV, but not be terminal or contageous. So do you differentiate, or just treat everyone the same? And then what about those with diseases that are contageous, but airborne (SARS, Bird Flu, etc). Do you have those people register as well??? I think that if someone knowingly transmits a deadly disease, it IS illegal, as well as criminal. One can be tried for neglegent homocide (or something to the effect). I think having a "list" is asking for trouble. And what will one do with the information on the list? Seperate them from the "healthy" public? Maybe we put them in ghettos with large gold D's on their clothing (designating diseased), and then we could also send them off to these "special camps" where they are tattooed with identification numbers. . . . Oh wait. Something like this was done already, wasn't it? Did you not learn from it????
6 :
it already is a crime to knowlingly infect another person with AIDS! you have a good point! if chilkd molesters have to register, than whould people with AIDS? YES! IF THEY have been convicted of knowlungly infecting another human being with this disease! they should be jailed! also! and like rapists, forced to register with the county they live in for life! yes!
7 :
I don't think they should have to register that they have the disease - a person's health is personal. BUT I do think that they should be held responsible if they knowingly infect someone else. If you know you have it, and you tell your partner, that's one thing. But if you keep it from them and one day they mysteriously test positive, then you should be accountable. I know that there have been cases where people have gone to jail for knowingly infecting someone else. But I think they should be held financially responsible too - AIDS drugs are expensive!
8 :
If they are irresponsible yes. It would be illegal for me to club someone in the head and it should be illegal for me to infect someone with something they can't get rid of or something that will kill them. It is murder!

how long does it take a person who's living with Hiv/Aids to get sick

how long does it take a person who's living with Hiv/Aids to get sick?
whats are the symptoms of Hiv/Aids and what are the side effects, please help.
STDs - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
you get the virus right away, but it does not show up in your blood anywhere from 3-6 months after being initially infected.
2 :
With the new cocktail drugs and early diagnosis people with HIV/Aids are living longer and the virus becomes a more manageable chronic illness. There are people who believe in holistic medicine and are also long time survivors. There are some individuals who carry a genetic profile that are infected and never show symptoms. The symptoms are flu-like, night sweats, thrush in the mouth, rashes, herpes zoster (chicken pox), neuropathy. Aids symptoms include pneumonia, below 200 cm TCell count, cytomygelavirus infections, severe neuropathy, arthritis, toxoplasmosis (infection of the brain), shingles, MAC (tuberculosis) , wasting syndrome, etc. in other words the body in the stage of AIDS becomes a host for a variety of infections. There are alot of side effects to the protease inhibitors including nausea, headaches, inflammation, loss of appetite. So, how long does it take a person to develop this? Its hard to say because of the meds and the person immune system if the meds are helping then they could be long time survivors 20+ years or if they are neglecting and not taking meds it could be short term.
3 :
Just so that people are clear, there are many people who have been positive for the last twenty plus years and are NOT on meds. It is possible to survive that long. You just need to look after yourself and make sure you're not doing anything risky and harmful to yourself or others. Positive living, eating the right foods on a regular basis and excercise, not like a strict routine but just make sure you don't become a couch potato. If you get a cold, or flu make sure you get it treated qucikly. Infact any ailment you have just make sure you get it treated and life goes.
4 :
When first infected many PHA's report FLU like symptoms, night sweats & weight loss.I have yet to C anyone survive OVER 30 Yrs After Diagnosis. With healthy eating&,lifestyle& meds, U can expect at least 20 yrs of life.As your cd4 falls your more prone to getting a virus or bacteria infection.Dr's will NOT start HAART treatment untill your CD4"s have fallen to 500 or less.

What are some fun ways to teach about HIV/AIDS

What are some fun ways to teach about HIV/AIDS?
HIV/AIDS is a very serious topic obviously, but what are some ideas for how to teach students (high school) about international HIV/AIDS? The focus isn't sex...but of course this will be mentioned. Any ideas for activities that will engage their interest and still teach them something. Movies, films, group activities, art/crafts, etc.

pretty sure thats an oxymoron
2 :
Art/ Crafts??????? really? WTF. I don't think you can make it fun. If anything it should be serious.
3 :
I don't thin you should make it 'fun', It's a serious topic, so... make the talk serious. Making it fun make it seem like nothing. Though I remember having the puberty talk in fifth grade, you could try doing something like an hiv/aids bingo using candy like skittles or m&ms( have answers on the square, ask questions. ( remember to make several different pages ) Also you have prizes to win for that. Or using powerpoint it's possible to make a jerpoardy game using powerpoint. ( you can find a template for this online ) Have them play that using questions about hiv/aids ( it may be a boring tv show, but playing it is seems to be extremely fun!. ) Have them in teams. allow them to win prizes as well.
4 :
There really isn't a fun way to talk about it. High school students should be mature enough to stop texting for a few minutes and listen to the cold hard facts about getting HIV and developing AIDS. It is a scary virus, because there is no cure, only treatments to delay death.

After all of the education that exists about HIV & AIDS; why do people still fear "catching" it

After all of the education that exists about HIV & AIDS; why do people still fear "catching" it?
Despite all of the information available about the HIV/AIDS virus there is still a lot of fear about "catching" the disease from an infected person. What I mean is there are a lot of people who think it is possible to acquire the disease without sexual contact or through the use of intravenous needles as if they don't believe the information that is available. Furthermore, although they are afraid of catching the disease the same way that they might catch a cold they STILL chastise the infected people for the alleged "Behavior" that led to the contraction of the disease.

I wish I knew the answer to that! And I have lived in some pretty major metropolitan areas and people are still squeamish about it, like you get it from someone coughing, sneezing or the like.....how utterly ridiculous and stupid and ignorant this still is. IF it were that easy then everyone would have it. I don't get it myself..........very sad and very disturbing!

I have been running some yahoo and google searches and so far I'm not coming up with a lot of options. Any help you could give, pointing me in the right direction, would be great. Nope, just Korea. And yes, I know Southeast Asia is much worse in terms of AIDS but my interest in Korea is aiming to be professional. You didn't really touch on orphanages or helping disabled people. Care to elaborate there?

Korea for sure has not that much HIV cases. If you really want to volunteer in this you should take a look to Cambodia. It is still a third world country with many people never in their live seen electricity, living in wooden shacks, no toilettes, no fresh water, handicapped (mines) HIV (UN says the highest quotes in SEA) and many children without parents living on the streests, many times tried to get to hotel rooms by sick pedophile old western tourists. If you want to help - o to countries where it is more than needed

What characteristic of HIV/AIDS causes this discrepancy

What characteristic of HIV/AIDS causes this discrepancy?
Teens have a high rate of contracting HIV, yet more adults (25-44yrs old) die from ADIS.
STDs - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Because they contract it young & medication is helping people live longer with the disease
2 :
HIV symptoms don't occur until at least 6 months or more. If you seek medical attention early, you can get treatments to reduce it's effect (but there isn't a cure). From that, you can live longer. You can also live longer if you maintain a healthy body (other than the AIDs already inside you). AIDs reduces the immune system so you are exposed to other diseases. That's how you die from it. If you're lucky enough to avoid any other diseases, you should be a bit safer. Good luck!

What would your comfort level be around someone with HIV/AIDS

What would your comfort level be around someone with HIV/AIDS?
On my term paper, I'm including a survey on people's opinions on those infected with HIV and AIDS; if you found out that someone you knew became infected with AIDS, how would your comfort level around them change on a scale from 1-10? 1 being that it doesn't bother you at all, and 10 being that you couldn't stand to be around them.. thank you for your help! :)

I've met people with HIV and it didn't bother me at all. So I guess that's a '1'
3 :
i dont see why your feelings or opinions should have to change around a person just because they have contracted the HIV virus... its not like they are going to infect you by just being there! i think my comfort level would change if it was somebody i was going to sleep with! i dont think i could sleep with somebody if i knew they had it... but it would not stop me liking them as a person the HIV virus does not change a persons personality and it is wrong to treat them any different to anybody else. your a shallow shallow person if you ditch a long term friend on the sole grounds that they'd contracted this awful condition. id be a 1 - it would not bother me at all as a friend i'd be there for my friend in need...
4 :
1 for HIV; 5 for AIDS; 10+ for hepatitis.
5 :
I volunteer at the local hospital and its not as easy to say 1 or 10. Given the fact that all should be treated with respect and dignity, i want to warn you about getting blood on your hands ect. (its scary, and dont say its not). But they are just like us, but with a slight diff? I mean you still need to be carefull k? Just go for a "5" if you are in a bloody situation. Otherwise just go for "1". I dont like ppl behaving like "10" around sick ppl. They are truely selfish. (",) Living in South Africa, we get to do with a lot of AIDS and HIV in our society. We get taught in school alot about AIDS ect and how just normal behaviour wont get you infected (holdinh hands, hugs, sharing food ect.) but we know all about blood and the potensial threat it holds. (",) good luck with your report hey.
6 :
1. its not like you can catch it just by being near them. I have a friend who is HIV pos for over 20 yrs. Been friends with him for 30. It makes no difference to me. He is still him.
7 :
We have been working with those affected with AIDS and never felt that this will affect us, we are always comfortable. Scale 1
8 :
1... I lived with brother who had HIV/AIDS for 10 years and it never changed anything. Yes, bodily fluids are a little scarier, but I would take standard precautions with anyone's body fluids.... not just HIV/AIDS patients. All that being said, I don't think you are going to get an accurate representation of this in the health section. Most people lurking around here answering questions have at least a slight background in the medical field, or are at least interested in it and therefore most likely educated about the disease. I would try posting it in society and culture somewhere, or perhaps the teen section if you're still in high school. I think you would get a better representation of the normal population.
9 :
Ok. Everyone here is saying 1, and thats ok if they feel that way, but Im going to be honest. From one to ten, I'd be a 3, the most. I mean, Ive always had fears about contracting HIV, so yeah. Its not about ignorance, honestly, because I know that there are some ways u can and can not catch it, but its just a fear in the back of my head. Eventually, I'd just forget about it.

I would look at some peer reviewed research articles online. Just type in the subject you are interested in into a data base. There are so many of them (libraries, university libraries). This way you can back up your statement with actual research....
3 :
Most gay men don't use condoms during anal sex.The anus is a very fragile and a tender area that can easily rip increasing the chances of infection in gay men. But I strongly believe that it is a matter of using a condom rather than sexual preference.

Why dont intentional exposure laws include other std's besides HIV/AIDS

Why dont intentional exposure laws include other std's besides HIV/AIDS?
Most states have laws in place that make it a felony to expose someone to their HIV infection without first notifying their partner of the risk. Why don't these laws make it a crime to expose others to infections like Chlamydia, Herpes, and HPV? Wouldn't it help to dispel the stigma that is associated with HIV? Since people are five times more likely to catch HIV when they have an STD, wouldn't this also help bring down the rates of all STD's including HIV? Just wanna add this one detail...HPV can cause cancer and be a silent killer. Other STD's can also cause infertility. HIV is now treatable though not curable and these STD's can increase a persons chances of contracting HIV. I just think that we need to do something to send a strong message to those people who know they are infected with whatever continuing to spread their misery.

There is much deliberation in the law if wilfully infecting a person with HIV is also punishable under manslaughter. However, i think it is the fact that HIV can kill you that makes it so serious in the eyes of the law.

Your f*cked now u dumb cow.
2 :
I'm sorry... I lol'ed at this question... she has HIV "apparently"?? Was this something you found out in casual conversation? Anywho... no, don't worry. You CANNOT get HIV from any of the methods you describe. Saliva does contain HIV but not in sufficient quantities to infect you. The only way that could happen is if there was blood. Did she have any open sores in her mouth? Did you have any open sores in your mouth? If not, you're OK. If it makes you feel better you could have an HIV test in 3 months, but I assure you it's entirely unnecessary.
3 :
dude dont worry about you cant get it just from making out with her only if you mix blood or had sex so your cool dont be scared.
4 :
I doubt you caught it from her, but just so you can calm down get an HIV test to make sure
5 :
Not one chance in a billion.
6 :
There is zero chance you could have contracted HIV from your friend. First, HIV is not transmitted by sharing objects such as cups, drinks, and cigarettes. Second, there is absolutely no evidence that kissing, in the absence of seriously bleeding cuts in both partners' mouths, can result in HIV transmission. In fact, there has never been a documented case of HIV transmission from kissing. You're perfectly fine, so you can stop worrying now.
7 :
What does "apparently" mean? When I was a teenager, lots of stupid ass dumbly retarded kids would spread rumors about other kids having AIDS/HIV, and it was never true, nor was it EVER funny. Just because someone said the girl has HIV does NOT mean that it's true. Besides, at your age, you should know better than to ask this question. You should have been told a bazillion times by now that you can't get HIV that way. You know you can only get HIV through transmission of sexual fluids, or through blood. Come on, now.

What are some controversial topics related to HIV/AIDS

What are some controversial topics related to HIV/AIDS?

1 :
How about this one: is AIDS real? I mean there is a very strong correlation between having HIV and developing AIDS but it's not 100% so there's room for debate, although certain pharmaceutical companies don't want you to.
2 :
http://www.sciencemag.org/feature/data/cohen/cohen.dtl http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/aids.htm http://aids.about.com/od/newlydiagnosed/a/hivtimeline.htm http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/aids.htm
3 :
That HIV exists and it causes AIDS i not controversial. Anyone who says otherwise is extremely ignorant of the wealth of data. The practice of giving out condoms is quite controversial. They work fairly well, but does handing them out promote promiscuity? Does it matter even if it does?
4 :
One of the most controversial issues around HIV/AIDS is the assertion that HIV causes AIDS. There are scientists who now believe that the virus is simply opportunistic. This would explain why it is common in high risk groups, like IV drug addicts, homosexuals, people with hemophilia, and people with protein malnutrition. After many years of dealing with this problem, many people now believe that nutrition is key to progression from HIV infection to AIDS. This is more so in Black people, because of the heritage of maize. A maize diet causes protein malnutrition which weakens the immune system; this weakness passes from generation to generation. The affected thrive better on a low protein micro nutrient dense diet.
5 :
As a person living with HIV for 4 years I would say the biggest topic is the stigma the HIV community still faces everyday after so many years . Many people living with HIV cannot get the healthcare that is needed to live with the disease and this allows it to turn into AIDS . Many people living with HIV / AIDS face a life of fear , stigma and ignorance . I myself would say HIV / AIDS IS infact a controversial topic all in itself .

4 :
No you don't get HIV/Aids from kissing someone, only if you have an open cut or sore and their blood or liquids get in it but that's just about it and sexual intercourse. o.O

no! if only she got hiv and she got cut in her mouth or lips. did she? if no don't worry.

11 :
Only if you and her had open seeping sore in both of your mouths, then is it highly unlikely.

Only if you both have open sores or cuts in your mouth and you exchanged bloody saliva....very, very, very highly unlikely that you contacted HIV. So, enjoy and be careful!

its clinically imporssible to contract HIV/AIDS from kissing. only blood and/or sexual fluids can carry the disease.

Most states require notification if you have HIV, AIDS, and you are also required to use protection. I'm sure New Jersey does as well. Syphilis is another disease that requires disclosure in many states, but many people do not know they are infected. Call the toll free number for the state of New Jersey and ask for their STD/HIV dept. and then talk to someone. Or you might try the link shown below to answer your questions.
2 :
Yeah most states require you to notify your partner if you KNOW that you are hiv postive. Unfortantly that can be hard to prove because almost half the hiv infected population does not know they have it.
3 :
Almost every state has a std law, you can be charged with a felony for not reporting it.

Is HIV/AIDS curable? How soon will a person usually die after he is infected with HIV virus

Is HIV/AIDS curable? How soon will a person usually die after he is infected with HIV virus?

According to South Park injecting around 100,000 dollars cash directly into the bloodstream can cure aids, other wise no there is no cure, and what does matter is how much drugs you can afford to combat the disease, probably 10 years minimum but in some cases like magic johnson hes still going after 30 plus years
2 :
HIV is not curable. But there are very good drugs available meaning that the life expectancy has dramatically increased and many HIV patients are living into old age.
3 :
Ok lets get a few things clear first - HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is that actual virus that gets into the body and infects the person. AIDS (aquired immunodeficiency syndrome) is the disease which is eventually caused by HIV. Someone who is infected with HIV can live for many months or even years without developing AIDS, and thus they're usual pretty symptom free. Once AIDS has been developed the person usually starts showing symptoms. From then its a gradual deterioration over months or years until they die. The nature of AIDS is its affects on the immune system. So many people suffering from AIDS die from infections that the body cannot fight, because the immune system has been destroyed. HIV/AIDS is not curable. The reason for this is that the virus constantly 'hides' from the immune system, so unlike other viruses, the body cannot combat it. Hope this helps x Edit: Ok Darin - thank you for giving me the thumbs down. I am aware of how the HIV virus acts in the body. But as a nurse I didn't think it was appropriate to go into virology and replication with someone who perhaps has no clue about it. I use my own methods to explain illnesses to patients, and you use yours. Thanks.
4 :
Scientists have not found the cure for AIDS yet but about three weeks ago there was report from Germany that said that a guy who had AIDS for more than a decade got cured with a bone marrow transplant. He needed the transplant because he also had leukemia. They are not sure if the AIDS virus will come back but for now there is no sign of the virus being in his body. Just google bone marrow cures aids
5 :
There are cases where people have cleared the virus using different combinations of drugs. some antiviral drugs have been effective against it
6 :
Not curable at all, treatable if your rich as hell!
7 :
It is treatable, but there is no cure. Untreated HIV you can live 10-12 years if you haven't developed full blown AIDS. Once you reach that stage, you are prone to opportunistic infections like pcp pneumonia, various cancers, ect. The best treatment available is protease inhibitors that can bring down the viral load, while helping your C4 count come back up. Normal c4 count is 1500. If your under 200, you have AIDS.No treatment and you can die within months. With treatment, you can live a normal life for many years. There are side effects to the drugs, and if you don't take them properly, you can become resistant to them. Estimates are 6 years life expectancy if you have full blown AIDS with treatment, but that number climbs every year. More people are living longer with AIDS that they usually die of contributing diseases like lung cancer and cardiac arrest. I hope this helps. Update: Ok the virus doesn't "hide" from the immune system like someone on here said. The virus replicates itself by invading c4 cells and using their DNA to produce copies of themselves. Also, you don't have to be rich as hell to have treatment. Medicaid and Insurance Carriers have made the drugs very affordable. Be carefull about some of the answers you read on here. Update: Yes, the bone marrow patient shows no sign of the AIDS virus at all. That is because he recieved a marrow transplant from a match that had a genetic predisposition to HIV. 1 in 100 Euoropean blooded people carry this gene. Finding a doner match with that predisposition was a 1 in 1000 chance. So don't put your hopes on that. The good news is it opens doors for genetic studies to combat HIV/AIDS
8 :
For those people saying there is No cure , remember the case of Magic Johnson .If he got better everyone can. There are many cures reported but somehow do not make front page news. HIV treatment has been described and there were legal battles over this . A person should not die if he does all the right thins including a proper diet. Also try to learn the cause of the aids virus as reported in London Times.
9 :
Hi there i believe in right in saying aids it self dose not kill you it is normally a cold or chest infection which kills you because hiv/aids destroys your immune system and leaves you vulnerable to illnesses, e.g. colds but as of yet there is only drugs which can keep the virus at bay but not complete remove it, but we will never know what tommrow brings in adavances to medcin
10 :
There is no cure for HIV/AIDS, If someone could cure the virus, that person would be a millionaire. I do feel bad for people who have this disease.
11 :
no hiv is not curable. If you are around 20 years old, and your in good health and taking all your medications, then you are expected to live to be 67.. all we can do is prey that a cure will be found
12 :
first off, some of these answers area little wacky. Second off, no one really knows how long you will live after getting the virus. I just found out in April I had HIV. I just had a baby 6 weeks ago and both my son and my husband are negative. I got very, very lucky with my strand of the virus. I have a clean strand so I have all of the different medications to choose from to use. Then, other than the virus I have no other health problems, I am also showing a very strong resistance to the virus. I was just taken off of medication and for the last month my Tcells have stayed at 600 and my viral load was only 1500. When I was tested back in April I had the virus for at least 6 years and my viral load was only 1800. With that said, my Dr. said I may be able to go 10-15 years without medication. He also said that he could see me living another 30 to 40 years (I am 24 now). Studies have shown that people in my situation have a life expectancy of 69 years. However, that doesn't guarantee that everything is going to go as planned. Something could happen and I very well could die a month from now. There are people who are not as lucky and get some mutant strand that is resistant to all drugs and is fast acting. In those cases they could die quickly. I read a story about a man who got AIDS (not HIV) in the 80's. His strand is resistant to all of the medications, but he is still alive today. As for the cure, there really isn't one. My oldest brother did see the story on that man who had the bone marrow transplant though. I did some reading and I know there was a test done with bone marrow back in about 95' and only a small percentage of people showed to have the virus eradicated from their system. But for the most part, it didn't work. My brother said that the researchers think that if you are highly resistant to the virus then the procedure "might" work but, they really are not sure. Could it be a possible cure? Maybe. It might be years before we know for sure. The end result is HIV is not curable, but it isn't the death sentence it once was. People can live long an healthy lives and die of old age. I think the longest living person with HIV is a lady who it in her 80's and still alive today. *Edit* BTW, the pills for treating HIV are expensive, but if you have good medical insurance then it really isn't that expensive. I took Kaletra and Combivir and for a 3 month supply they would have cost about $3,000. But I paid $20 for a 3 month supply. Not to mention, if you live in the US each state has a program to help people who can't afford HIV medication.
13 :
No it s not. It depends, how soon the person finds out they are HIV+ and starts on medications. If the person takes good care of them self they can live a normal life expectancy.

How can someone cope with living with HIV/AIDs

How can someone cope with living with HIV/AIDs?
I'm in the process of getting tested for STDs right now and I'm nervous. I'm paranoid. I'm very worried. I think I would commit suicide if I tested HIV+ ...is it really worth it to live with AIDs or HIV? Its not about the physical pain but the emotional pain. How can I ever have a loving relationship with someone? My whole social life would be destroyed and all my chances of romance are squandered...

lol bro im in the same boat im worried like crazy...i was thinking about just blowing my head off if i am :( lets cross our fingers for both of us
2 :
You are getting way ahead of yourself. The test isn't back yet, remember? Secondly, It's absolutely worth living with the illness. The drugs have come a long, long way. There is an incredible support network, in the form of professionals and people with HIV. The life expectancy and dormant phase of AID's can be up to 20 years before symptoms develop and yes you can have romance, safe sex and love in your life with HIV. Again, the test isn't back yet and whatever happens, I wish you luck.
3 :
Hey Brother. I tested + about 9 months ago. I thought long and hard about ending it. On my birthday I was soaking in a very hot tub with an Exacto knife in my hands. Earlier that week I had thrown away everything I didn't need, things I wouldn't want anyone to find after my death and was ready to check out. I had the blade over my wrist, but something stopped me. I made the decision to take it year by year. Every year on my B-day, I would take stock of things and decide whether I want to go on or not. I advise you to do the same. You can always kill yourself, but you can't unkill yourself. Make the promise to yourself that you'll do the same. You can always end it later.
4 :
Dont talk about killing yourself because the hiv/aids test s ometimes come out you have it and you really dont, if you get a posrtive get a different test done before you do anything like that, and its not the end of the world if you have it just means your life become very compilicated, andpeople live with it everyday. They do it one day at a time.hope your okay. but if test comes back bad get another test, because there is mess up everyday in labs.
5 :
I went through this 2 years ago. I was a complete wreck for a whole year because I was too afraid to even go and get tested. Ignorance is bliss I guess. I finally did and it was negative. Happiest day of my life. I seriously thought what a life must be like if you tested positive, and still think about it often. I could not imagine living like that either. I mean yeah someone with HIV could live another 20 years, but that is not much comfort when a person is 20 years old. Knowing you won't live past like 40...wow I couldn't even imagine knowing that. The only thing that would keep me going and possible cause me to NOT end my life, would be hope for a cure.

If HIV/ AIDS was around in Hitler's time, would he have killed everyone who was HIV positive

If HIV/ AIDS was around in Hitler's time, would he have killed everyone who was HIV positive ?
I reckon he would have. Just wondering ? I know it definately wasnt around then. I'm just putting out a hypothetical to see peoples opinions on how ruthless Hitler may have been.

It probably was but noone knew what it was. By the way, Hitler was in very ill health most of his life.
2 :
I believe it did exist but only in parts of Africa. The major reason it spread was increased contact with effected parts of Africa and the migration of those peoples to other parts of the world that dramatically increased because of cheaper and easier travel during the last 40-50 years.
3 :
Considering that anyone disabled, homosexual, or with 'criminal' and 'Jewish' blood was killed... ... there's no doubt he'd kill HIV sufferers.

HIV, you will be weak and get sick alot. All others....your wang will look "sick"
3 :
death!
4 :
HIV: * chronic yeast infections or thrush (yeast infection of the mouth) * Fever and/or night sweats * Easy bruising * Bouts of extreme exhaustion * Unexplained body rashes * Appearance of purplish lesions on the skin or inside mouth * Sudden unexplained weight loss * Chronic diarrhea lasting for a month or more * chronic yeast infections or thrush (yeast infection of the mouth) * Fever and/or night sweats * Easy bruising * Bouts of extreme exhaustion * Unexplained body rashes * Appearance of purplish lesions on the skin or inside mouth * Sudden unexplained weight loss * Chronic diarrhea lasting for a month or more AIDS: # Lack of energy # Weight loss # Frequent fevers and sweats # Persistent or frequent yeast infections # Persistent skin rashes or flaky skin # Short-term memory loss # Mouth, genital, or anal sores from herpes infections STDS: There are lots of them..I'm assuming you're asking about STDS in men? Chlamydia is the most common and fastest spreading sexually transmitted disease. * inflammation of the urethra (the bladder duct within the penis) * stinging feeling when passing water * clear discharge from penis and possible itchiness around the opening * pain or tenderness in the testicles.
5 :
pain nasty genital stuff dripping stuff from ur cooter
6 :
All STDs signs vary depending on which it is. HIV and AIDs can go symptom free for a very long time. If you think you have something, go get checked...and don't go spreading it around to anyone new.
7 :
First symptoms and diagnosis: Chlamydia may appear 1 - 30 days or an average of 1 - 3 weeks after exposure. A culture smear antibody and other chemical test may be performed for diagnosis.
8 :
With HIV you catch colds, flu etc much more easily and then very hard to get rid of. With AIDS its the shingles, unhealed spots and sores etc. With most other STD's its a rash, burning, itching that won't go away.
9 :
there are sum punks on this site... but anyways i think signs are discharge and things that shouldnt be happening in that area like redness and things like that. i dont think HIV/AIDS has very big signs until at the end of the life because of the fact that it kills white blood cells so you cant really see an outside aprearance change other than tiredness or something. hope u dont have AIDS man
10 :
Several first signs, but they tend to vary from person to person, as well as all being symptoms of other, more trivial illnesses, since the immune system being weakened is the cause of the symptoms. Some include; Sweating loads at night Fever Rash Sore throat Nasal conestion Headache Tiredness If you're worried for you or someone else, check that it isn't something less serious, like a cold, flu or even ME or glandular fever, and don't self diagnose or diagnose from the internet. That just causes (possibly) unnecessary panic, and get a blood test at a genito-urinary clinic. Best ways to avoid = condom use, not sleeping with multiple people, trying to sleep with only one person in your life (also making for a good marriage), and preferably, them only having slept with you in their lives.
11 :
Sores, muscle and joint pains, fevers, diareah or coughs. But the best thing to do is getting tested.

Can HIV/AIDS be passed on through Mosquitoes

Can HIV/AIDS be passed on through Mosquitoes?
Ok, it's like this. Mosquitoes drink blood, and thus this provides a stable environment for viruses and bacteria to thrive correct? So, does this mean that mosquitoes can transmit HIV through carrying the virus in their bodies and passing them on to the next person they penetrate?
    Other - Diseases - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
    1 :
    No. It's been proven.
    2 :
People say they don't but I think they can.
    3 :
I don't think it can but really and trully don't know why.
    4 :
No, that's imposable. That is not the way aids is transmitted. Aids is a disease that you almost have to be trying to get. Like using needles passed around without sterilizing first or not having safe sex. .It worries me that the virus mutates and gets easier to contract. by mosquitoes, casual contact, or even airborne.
    5 :
No, according to the Centers for Disease control. Although yellow fever, malaria can be transmitted, tests (supposedly) have shown that HIV cannot reproduce in insects. So supposedly even if HIV enters an insect it cannot survive and the insect does not become infected. So..when a mosquito bites you it cannot infect you.
    6 :
No mosquitoes cannot transmit HIV . The amount of blodd they carry in their probosis is so miniscule to cause infection. The H in HIV stands for Human. HIV thrives only in human beings.studies conducted by the CDC and elsewhere have shown no evidence of HIV transmission from mosquitoes or any other insects - even in areas where there are many cases of AIDS and large populations of mosquitoes. Lack of such outbreaks, despite intense efforts to detect them, supports the conclusion that HIV is not transmitted by insects. The results of experiments and observations of insect biting behavior indicate that when an insect bites a person, it does not inject its own or a previously bitten person's or animal's blood into the next person bitten. Rather, it injects saliva, which acts as a lubricant so the insect can feed efficiently. Diseases such as yellow fever and malaria are transmitted through the saliva of specific species of mosquitoes. However, HIV lives for only a short time inside an insect and, unlike organisms that are transmitted via insect bites, HIV does not reproduce (and does not survive) in insects. Thus, even if the virus enters a mosquito or another insect, the insect does not become infected and cannot transmit HIV to the next human it bites. There also is no reason to fear that a mosquito or other insect could transmit HIV from one person to another through HIV-infected blood left on its mouth parts. Several reasons help explain why this is so. First, infected people do not have constantly high levels of HIV in their blood streams. Second, insect mouth parts retain only very small amounts of blood on their surfaces. Finally, scientists who study insects have determined that biting insects normally do not travel from one person to the next immediately after ingesting blood. Rather, they fly to a resting place to digest the blood meal.

What keeps increasing the number of people leaving with HIV/AIDS in poor countries

What keeps increasing the number of people leaving with HIV/AIDS in poor countries?
For looking at some statistics on develloped countries, the scale is not so bad.
    STDs - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
    1 :
Well poor countries don't have the technology that we have and the communication like we do! We have AIDs awareness month commercials that talk about it classrooms that teach it over in other countries they just don't ahve the funds to help people become more aware . .if you are really interested you might want to try to inter over in one of the countries to help spred the word! and how to prevent it!
    2 :
Education! There are lots of myths out there about HIV/AIDS. One example: In some countries it is believed that by having sex with a virgin girl, you can rid yourself of HIV. With beliefs like that it is easy to see why education is so important
    3 :
There are many factors that contribute to the rapid spread of HIV in poor countries. Number one is the lack of education. Many people are unaware of how it is contracted and that condoms can protect them from the spread of the disease. Second, the culture is quite different. Husbands do not remain faithful in many situations, and bring back disease to their wives...then they have children infected with the disease. Rape is also a major issue in the spread of the disease. Also, these people have little or no access to the strong cocktails of anti-virals that we here in the US have access to. These drugs have almost eliminated HIV/AIDS in newborns born to mothers who are infected.
    4 :
Poor education, lack of government funded family planning programs. Most of them are not as civilized as the rest of us. If they live in huts and villages, I can bet they don't have a local walmart selling condoms. Lack of medical care. Rape, and it happens a lot in the cultures you are speaking of. Poor hygiene. Race plays a part. Most of them are of African decent, and they have a higher number of cases, not saying that black are carriers of Aids, and it's there fault, but I once read somewhere, that 1 in 20 Black men, have HIV/AIDS. Compared to i think it was like 1 in 70 white men. This was in Florida so I don't think that counts worldwide. There are a lot of factors, but it's a shame that it has to happen, and especially to babies, and children. Especially who have no access to healthcare. They have no hope at living a full wonderful life. It's heart breaking.
    5 :
The main reason is because very few use condoms or safe sex. And there is little education to let people know how it is contracted. Also there is no money for treatment. The average life span of people in poor countries like some places in Africa are around 24. And Canada is around 80.

wow; you feel healthy? First of all it takes 6 months to show. Second of all people can have it and not know. and then one day, BAM! your dead. idkay? either way get tested!
    2 :
GET TESTED! It's not the flu, you wouldn't just start feeling bad. If you have any sores or cuts in your mouth (you can have them and not know it) you can get it.
    3 :
its only a program in your mind by the ones that hate you and simply want you depressed instead of living your life in peace, remember there is no death never was and never will be.
    4 :
Get tested! There is a high chance you will have it (there is a small chance you don't). It can take years to even feel sick. First off i hope you guys didn't know he had HIV/AIDS before you guys messed around. If he knew about it and didn't tell you he can be charged with a crime!!! Please be responsible and keep your AIDS to your self until you get tested and get the results negative, you don't want to spread that around, it will ruin lives!
    5 :
yes you can get it ...go get tested and then later get tested again.. sounds like you need to pick your partners better, because they should have told you before engaging in such stuff before hand...that's very irresponsible of them and you.
    6 :
Please go get tested for HIV. You CAN get HIV from oral sex with an infected person. The symptoms do not show for a very long time if you have been infected, so I would suggest getting to a doctor as soon as possible. The chances of getting HIV from oral sex is lesser than that of having intercourse. Also the best way to prevent getting this disease is to use latex condoms, and as for oral sex, use a latex barrier. Best of luck.

can i get hiv/aids from touching door knobs And benches then eat and masturbate without washing my hands

can i get hiv/aids from touching door knobs And benches then eat and masturbate without washing my hands?
i went to atlantic city for an hour and then coming back i ate something without washing my hands and later masturbated through my shorts without washing my hands. its now a few weeks later and i have a sore jaw and sore throat does this mean anything.

No you can't get HIV?AIDS from touching door handles etc. Thousands of people you public transit and public areas every day, eat with out washing their hands and never contract AIDS. STI's and illnesses like that tend not to live on open surfaces because they have nothing to keep them alive. If you're really worried you have some form of STI, I doubt you caught it from touching things in Atlantic City, then go get your self tested for herpes or gonorrhea. Both are simple tests with simple fixes and don't cost much. All that being said it's always good to have an AIDS test because it will let you know you have a clean slate. I'm sure you're fine.
    2 :
No. You are unhygenic and nasty, not infected.
    3 :
    no
    4 :
you'll be fine, the worst you can have right now is strep throat, that's all that i would worry about.
    5 :
The only way u cud get hiv by touchin a doorknob is if the doorknob is covered in blood like those horror movies btw whenever ya in public and your about to eat always wash your hands thats common sense aint it
    6 :
You can't get HIV that way. You can't get HIV from touching things that other people have touched. Once HIV is outside the body, exposed to air, it dies within minutes. You CAN get HIV from having unprotected sex with someone who has HIV, sharing needles for drug use with someone who has HIV, or getting infected blood into your bloodstream through an open wound. Also, women can pass the virus on to their babies through pregnancy, delivery, or breastfeeding. You can not get HIV from someone who does not have HIV.
