HIV/AIDS is a very serious topic obviously, but what are some ideas for how to teach students (high school) about international HIV/AIDS? The focus isn't sex...but of course this will be mentioned. Any ideas for activities that will engage their interest and still teach them something. Movies, films, group activities, art/crafts, etc.

Art/ Crafts??????? really? WTF. I don't think you can make it fun. If anything it should be serious.

I don't thin you should make it 'fun', It's a serious topic, so... make the talk serious. Making it fun make it seem like nothing. Though I remember having the puberty talk in fifth grade, you could try doing something like an hiv/aids bingo using candy like skittles or m&ms( have answers on the square, ask questions. ( remember to make several different pages ) Also you have prizes to win for that. Or using powerpoint it's possible to make a jerpoardy game using powerpoint. ( you can find a template for this online ) Have them play that using questions about hiv/aids ( it may be a boring tv show, but playing it is seems to be extremely fun!. ) Have them in teams. allow them to win prizes as well.

There really isn't a fun way to talk about it. High school students should be mature enough to stop texting for a few minutes and listen to the cold hard facts about getting HIV and developing AIDS. It is a scary virus, because there is no cure, only treatments to delay death.
