should people with the HIV/AIDS or other dangerous sexually transmitted diseases have to register

should people with the HIV/AIDS or other dangerous sexually transmitted diseases have to register?
There are people that knowing have these STD's and will have unprotected sex with others at their expense. Should this be criminal? yes, if a person knows he has HIV/AIDS and has sex with someone who doesn't know or some other disease of the sort it is BAD! That's exactly what I'm saying... A friend of mine had sex with a woman that knowingly had an STD. He found out and the woman knew she had it. People should not be allowed to go around doing that even though the guy was stupid for having unprotected sex with the woman. She needs to be publicly known and people of that sort! You shouldn't be able to protect the guilty and put the ignorant at risk like that. So what if someone like that gets victumized! What about what she is doing? What about the smaller ones like herpes or a few others you can not get rid of? That would be like me going out and giving people broken noses or breaking thier arms and legs! "I didn't kill them so what?" is a bad way of looking at that one...

They should be shipped to a desert island, then nuke the island.

I believe it should. They should at least have a tattoo or something around their privates that say STD So that everyone will be aware. And if you are too drunk not to notice than maybe you should quit drinking.

we already have an infectious disease register in australia, but it is a private government register. do wanna have the list so people can be safer, or do u want the list so u can find people to victimise and bash?

You said "will have unprotected sex with others". So, are you assuming that everyone with HIV or AIDS automatically intends to deliberately infect others? Or are you limiting your question to only those who admit to that intent and plan to take action on it? If the latter, then they've just also admitted to attempted battery, or arguably attempted murder, and should be locked up. If you mean punishing people (and forced public registration is punishment) just becasue they have a disease, even if they've done everything possible to prevent it from spreading, then that's just biogtry and hatred. Criminal conduct requires a mental state, either intent to harm or reckless disregard of harm, combined with some action in furtherance of that harm. You cannot punish people if they haven't done anything yet.

And where does that end? If you are having unprotected sex with a person that you don't know well enough to know about a terminal illness, then you deserve to get it and suffer the consequences. There is this thing called "right to privacy", and there would be other prejudices against those with HIV/AIDS because it is seen as "a gay disease" (even after all these years), and homosexuals would be targeted. And those with AIDS that weren't homosexual would be judged as such, and have their careers/lives ruined. And then there is this little technicality of HIV - one can have HIV, but not be terminal or contageous. So do you differentiate, or just treat everyone the same? And then what about those with diseases that are contageous, but airborne (SARS, Bird Flu, etc). Do you have those people register as well??? I think that if someone knowingly transmits a deadly disease, it IS illegal, as well as criminal. One can be tried for neglegent homocide (or something to the effect). I think having a "list" is asking for trouble. And what will one do with the information on the list? Seperate them from the "healthy" public? Maybe we put them in ghettos with large gold D's on their clothing (designating diseased), and then we could also send them off to these "special camps" where they are tattooed with identification numbers. . . . Oh wait. Something like this was done already, wasn't it? Did you not learn from it????

it already is a crime to knowlingly infect another person with AIDS! you have a good point! if chilkd molesters have to register, than whould people with AIDS? YES! IF THEY have been convicted of knowlungly infecting another human being with this disease! they should be jailed! also! and like rapists, forced to register with the county they live in for life! yes!

I don't think they should have to register that they have the disease - a person's health is personal. BUT I do think that they should be held responsible if they knowingly infect someone else. If you know you have it, and you tell your partner, that's one thing. But if you keep it from them and one day they mysteriously test positive, then you should be accountable. I know that there have been cases where people have gone to jail for knowingly infecting someone else. But I think they should be held financially responsible too - AIDS drugs are expensive!

If they are irresponsible yes. It would be illegal for me to club someone in the head and it should be illegal for me to infect someone with something they can't get rid of or something that will kill them. It is murder!
