After all of the education that exists about HIV & AIDS; why do people still fear "catching" it

After all of the education that exists about HIV & AIDS; why do people still fear "catching" it?
Despite all of the information available about the HIV/AIDS virus there is still a lot of fear about "catching" the disease from an infected person. What I mean is there are a lot of people who think it is possible to acquire the disease without sexual contact or through the use of intravenous needles as if they don't believe the information that is available. Furthermore, although they are afraid of catching the disease the same way that they might catch a cold they STILL chastise the infected people for the alleged "Behavior" that led to the contraction of the disease.

I wish I knew the answer to that! And I have lived in some pretty major metropolitan areas and people are still squeamish about it, like you get it from someone coughing, sneezing or the like.....how utterly ridiculous and stupid and ignorant this still is. IF it were that easy then everyone would have it. I don't get it myself..........very sad and very disturbing!
