Condoms aren't always that reliable because they can break or already have a hole in them. But your likelyhood of catching it with a condom is alot lower but you are still at risk. That is vaginal/anal sex. But oral sex, I'm pretty sure your likelyhood is very low.

I dont know the exact statistics, but you would not be completely protected from HIV, no. The risk = too much to be worth it, in my opinion.

condoms do not protect agains sexually transmitted diseases.

Unless you have sores in the mouth or esophagas you should be relatively safe...stomach acids have been shown to kill the virus.

It is absolutely NOT complete. Secretions slip through the top of the condom. I myself am too afraid these days of being with someone no matter how clean they appear. They may not even know they are HIV positive. Symptoms of HIV may not appear in a person for 10 years.

Oral sex is a low risk activity for acquiring HIV. It is important to remember that there is still risk. Using condoms properly lowers the risk even further. That being said, it does not eliminate it. Condoms are medical devices in the US and Canada and must meet rigorous testing to make it to the shelf. Do people who use condoms as contraception sometimes get pregnant... YES. Do people who use condoms to control the spread of STIs... YES. It is about risk, and what level of risk you are comfortable with. That being said, if you get tested and your partner is tested and you are in a monogamous relationship you will have a pretty good idea of what level of risk you are really dealing with. The reality is nothing is perfect; condoms are not an exception. Seatbelts save lives in car crashes, condoms save lives when it comes to sex.... neither is 100% perfect. You have to weigh your risks. Good luck!

eh, not a large chance, but there is a chance, even if theres a condom

Well considering your partner is positive, the risk of transmitting HIV orally when using a condom are extremely rare. A good site to check out which holds a discussion of experts in this area looking at the risks from oral sex with HIV positive partner with No Protection. http://hivinsite.ucsf.edu/InSite?page=pr-rr-05 Hopefully after reading some of that and adding a condom in to the mixture you would agree it is very low.

If you are having oral sex...... which means shes sucking and ur licking kinda stuff. Its 99%impossible to get aids, but herpes.....etc are possible. Because to get aids she would have to put a gallon of saliva all over you and it would have to enter into your blood stream. But.... if you are having vaginal, anal sex then a condom wont protect you, you may still get an std. Just get checked and have her get checked. I mean its free at most if not all clinics and this way both of you will enjoy sex much more.
