It's something fishy about this

seems their casual attitudes towards multiple sexual partners might be involved.
2 :
it's not African Americans, it's Africans. The aids rate in Africa is very high and they make up more than 13% of the population so it only makes sense that they would lead the world in aids cases.

Say hello to Africa, population ~1 billion So you think HIV/AIDS was a conspiracy to kill ethnicities? First it was the Gays, now its the the africans, whats next...handicap people?
4 :
it means that of the entire african american population, they have the most # of people that have HIV/AIDS than other ethnicities. i think mexican people are close up there also.

You are confusing African-Americans with Africans. AIDS is rampant in many countries in Africa and the 13% is only the makeup of blacks in the US not in the world. Black people have more cases but most of them are in Africa.

Yeah, there is something fishy about that. Makes you wonder doesn't it.

It's not Africa Americans who lead the world in HIV cases, it's Africans. But to awnser the question, it's because of a number of facters. First of all, it seems AIDS originated in Africa (as HIV is a form of SIV found in chimpanzees in Africa) so the African population was hit first, before anyone knew what the disease was or how it was transmitted. Other populations were insulated from the original and/or ongoing outbreak either by sociatal dictations of sexual activity, isolation from the original outbreak either or before information was known about prevention, or simple or partial immunity. I attended a confrence by a leading genetic researcher (who focused on HIV) about 3 years ago. His research indicated that certain populations had either a partial (thus slowing down the onset of symptoms) or total immunity; these were the populations most affected by the Bubonic Plague some few hundred years ago. Apparently, those who were able to survive the Bubonic Plague had a mutation in their killer T cells on the Delta 32 receptor... the same one HIV uses to infect the T cells (whom are responsible for identifying foreign threats to the body... kinda like generals). While its nice to look up your ancestor and find out that you might be immune, fact of the matter is there are 2 major types of HIV out there. HIV type 2 has no immunity, is more virulent (meaning more likely to get infected), faster on-setting symptoms, and while its current contained to South Africa... it's just a matter of time before it gets out. To answer the other part of your question, the US prisons have an proportionate amount of African-Americans in it's systems in comparison with general population. Furthermore, HIV type I is most infectious with blood contact and in regards to sexual relations, anal sex tends to be more likely to cause scopic or microscopic abrasions (cuts; whether your male or female). As such, there has been pandemics in the prison systems throughout the last 15 years, ebbing and tiding, but such pandemics disproportionatly affect black males because there are more of them in there as a population percentage compaired to the other races. Upon release it is possible that they could further spread the disease through their wives, girlfriends, or other partners.
